“The hijacking of Ann Widdecombe’s death”

During my time “never speak ill of the dead” was an automatically excepted taboo whether you loved them or hated them it just wasn’t done in public and you would be the one frowned upon for doing such a thing
These days it seems to be open season on anyone, dead or alive, to slag them off for anything you can dig up on them (pardon the pun)
Just another sad pointer to the western moral slide towards Sodom and Gomorrah!

(Ps: when I started writing ‘Sodom and G..’
the spell check replaced it with ‘Sodom and Glamorgan’! 🤣)

it’s a shame that the spell check gadget didn’t replace ‘excepted” with “accepted”. However, in this case it appears to have been open season by many journalists.

Calling an American a ‘Yank’ is racial harassment, court rules

“American” is not a race, it is a nationality composed of members of numerous races.

And “Yank” has been in wide use for years. What next? Will it be an offence to refer to the French as Frogs or the Brits as Pommies. Sadly all too likely.

And what about Yanks calling us Limeys?

Will the 18th Century song Yankee Doodle be banned as racist along with the 1942 film Yankee Doodle Dandy?

And what of the New York Yankees – baseball team (with a large number of black players), and their stadium Yankee Stadium – racist?

Yank is shortened from Yankee which comes from “Yengis” which was how native tribes who encountered early English settlers pronounced “English”.

I think the entire judiciary in the UK should be sent to the fields to pick fruit, and we should start again.

Starmer’s parting gift to pet owners: quieter fireworks” – Ministers have proposed reducing the noise of consumer fireworks by approximately 50% in a concession to pet owners, reports the Telegraph.

“Labour” petty nannying, at its very very best.

Starmer’s parting gift to pet owners: quieter fireworks”

Good luck with that… a few years ago we celebrated Guy Fawkes’ Night with ‘silent’ fireworks. They weren’t.

If you really wanted to resolve this, the only thing to do to is regulate sales and ban domestic fireworks completely.

When we were youngsters we used to wrap bangers in sellotape in order to increase the bang. Bloody hell it worked.

Blimey, Argentina are making this Malvinas thing difficult for themselves aren’t they? If they just send over a fleet of Argentine filled rubber dinghy’s not only can they inhabit the island but we’ll pay for their housing and living costs, our government will brand all the current islanders far-right racists for noticing the dinghy’s and ban them from flying the union jack. Job done.

Labour nationalises British Steel”

This is excellent news! It takes a Labour government to really show the world how a business should be properly run.

Hopefully, Burnham will put someone really capable, a powerhouse like David Lammy perhaps, in charge of this, as a reward for his scintillating work as Justice Minister and DPM. And, he’ll reverse the £635k a day losses, and this once mainstay of the British economy will rise again, phoenix-like from the ashes…

Those losses are now £1.3 per day. But… once the State is running it, loss will turn into profit just as water turned into wine at the wedding of Cana – so we may expect another miracle by the new Messiah Andy of Manchester.

The reason for nationalising British Steel is to preserve UK’s ability to produce steel particulately “high quality” steel, otherwise we would be dependent on imports.

But, facts, facts, facts… curiously unreported in the media or mentioned by the political Parties.

There are six companies making crude steel.

Four make high quality steel, or high-value steels (e.g., aerospace, defense, oil & gas, nuclear, stainless, or engineered grades).

These often involve stricter specifications, alloys, and processing.

They are: Specialist Steel UK – known for high-integrity specialty steels for aerospace, defense, etc.

Sheffield Forgemasters – specialist heavy forgings for critical sectors.

Marcegaglia – stainless steel products.

Tata Steel & British Steel (and others) also produce higher-spec or premium grades alongside commodity steel.

So saving British Steel to prevent foreign dependency is a lie.

The problem for British Steel is it is using blast furnaces whereas the industry has moved the electric furnaces which cheaper not least because fewer workers… Read more »

Trans ex-Labour candidate is charged over Ann Widdecombe post

Interesting. Charged with what exactly? I wasn’t aware that simply demonstrating being a vile piece of excrement was actually illegal, but there you go…

And, the University he works for are ‘investigating’ his remarks? How long will that take, I wonder?

Yes, this is where people have to check their double standards at the door. He should be condemned for the odious PoS that he is but not arrested. However, he’s in Scotland, where they do have a Hate Crime and Public Order Act;

”Just going to remind people that Scott “Heather” Herbert was arrested in Scotland… Scotland has the Hate Crime and Public Order (2021) Act.. The Equality Network & Scottish Trans were key contributors via written submissions, oral evidence to Parliament, and briefings. They strongly supported the Act, including “stirring up hatred” offences and updated definitions protecting transgender identity…
This also applies to online posts.. Posting “abusive” comments is a much lower threshold than under English law, which usually requires content to be “grossly offensive”, “menacing”, or to contain direct threats… Scott’s own comments were “grossly offensive”…easily meeting even the higher English standard… That’s why he is being charged under the very law that his TQ+ allies helped create…”

Agreed.

The ethical view is that no matter how amusing it is to see someone skewered by a law they probably agitated for, we can’t normalise this.

However, the law exists. That’s the problem.

Irrational’ Natural England loses pheasant shooting legal fight

‘Mr Justice Ritchie said the conditions imposed by NE were “irrational” due to them “misinterpreting the scope of their powers”.

‘“We did everything we could to avoid this. We engaged with NE’s leadership and we were ignored.’

‘Natural England’ gets £333 million p.a. of taxpayers money.

How much of that money has been wasted on this court case?

Who is going to be held accountable?

Clue: A lot…and no-one…

These people are a law unto themselves, Historic England are as bad, if not worse, they make decision to list a building and there is no right of appeal, no matter how provably bad the information their decision was based upon.

Their ‘business operation model’ appeals to the type of people you really wouldn’t want to put in charge of anything… except maybe political prisoners.
