Thirty Years of Self-Hurt: Remembering Euro 96

As England face their first knock out game of the World Cup, Steven Tucker looks back to Euro 96 and the pre-Blair era, when the country unhesitatingly pulled together behind the national side.

Andy Burnham is precisely the kind of empty political shirt who thinks he can get by on vibes alone. If that’s what you want, buy a dildo. In a certain sense, that’s exactly what the Great British public have just been sold, whether they wanted to have it rammed up their guts or not. Being a self-styled humanoid of the people, Toffee Burnham, just like Gooner Starmer before him, has latched onto the data that many ordinary voters like football, so has spent the last few years developing a suite of ‘policies’ based upon such crowd-pleasing formulae as moving FA Cup semi-finals away from Wembley, legally requiring all football clubs to be 51% fan-owned and listing more games to be compulsorily shown on free-to-air TV. That such measures would help destroy the game’s financial model doesn’t particularly matter to Andy. They sound good, and it’s far easier to gain shallow temporary popularity by swanning around talking about ‘the footie’ than it is to develop convincing policies on any real issues like taxation, immigration, welfare and defence.

During his lamentably successful by-election campaign in Makerfield, Burnham thought it essential to release a short video detailing his preferred sportsball moments from the past. His favourite ever goal, he said, was Alan Shearer’s right-foot blast against Holland at Euro 96, opportunistically seeking to tie himself directly to the fortunes of the national team with World Cup 2026 kicking off. Burnham thought this would help associate

Wow, I didn’t realize that! But Harry Kane, ably assisted by Anthony Gordon for both goals, saved the day!

What’s worse is the next venue: Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, which is nearly ONE & A HALF MILES HIGH in altitude, and that’s why Mexico have never lost a single World Cup match at that stadium, in all ten matches played there since 1970.

The high altitude gives the Mexican teams a ridiculous advantage over everyone else, and I’m sure it was deliberately chosen to knock out the England team so they can go no further. I hope the England squad can even survive the match there without collapsing from lack of oxygen. Even the Guadalajara Stadium is almost a mile high, so Mexico have always had the advantage, and it makes no sense that they have been allowed to muscle in on hosting the World Cup for a third time. The Evil Old Hag Claudia will be gloating and rubbing her hands together.

Leftist FIFA refused to allow the two White-founded Nations of Canada & the USA to jointly host the World Cup, unless they added Mexico for “DIVERSITY”, as if the teams weren’t diverse enough already! Even the… Read more »

The irony behind the public being “educated” into appreciating the so called diversity of the England team and getting behind it is that your native white Brits are the one’s who are most loyal and enthusiastic supporters of the team.

The one’s who are least into the team are.precisely much of the migrant population. The one’s creating all the “diversity” are precisely the ones with the divided loyalties.

Again, more gaslighting.

As far as that Migration Museum illustration goes, it just shows the horror that has befallen the West, which nobody ever voted for.

I think that picture needs to come down. It’s showing an England Team which actually looks English.

It’s an astonishing photo, isn’t it? Such a shock to remember how all English, Scots, Welsh & Northern Irish teams used to look, only a couple of decades ago, as well as all the other sports teams in every country founded by Ethnic Europeans. And no one criticized them for being all-white teams, and none of them felt the need to apologize for being white.

It’s also good to see how loose and comfortable their shirts are, compared to the tight-fitting ones nowdays. And they all had more hair on their heads, because all the female contraceptive hormones had not yet flooded the water supply.
