Who I’ve got no time for are these cynical ‘glass half empty’ types, for whom no party will ever measure up to their idealistic expectations, so they lose touch with reality due to both their extremely jaded perspective coupled with conspiratorial worldview, thinking that it’s pointless voting for anyone so they don’t bother voting at all. Then they never tire of pouring derision on anybody who has the good sense to get off their arse and use the only real power they have: to vote with the intention of getting rid of the status quo. Some people are not completely devoid of optimism and hope.
The apathetic are bad enough but these doom-mongers are the worst.
The way I see it: the Muslims will all be out voting and so will the Lefties. The only chance any Right-leaning party has of winning is if voters galvanize themselves and match the turnout of the aforementioned, because what’s the alternative? This is a junk article, giving us the same old wedge issue of lack experience in government vs experienced people who have failed in government.
I will confess that Reform still seem to be struggling to have the ‘Big Idea’. Policy planning is tinkering at the detail, but not the substance of a new vision for our nation. I suppose everyone under 40 is now totally ingrained with ‘more government, more government’, and the thought of less government must be pretty scary. It needs a transition period too maybe 5-10 years from here to there, and the weak economy isn’t giving much hope that people removed from the public teat, can easily find other employment. I’m glad I’m not in charge of it. Where the hell do you start.? The UK really needs an enema…

Quite. Reform is the systems response to growing unrest. They keep the proletariat off the streets and queueing at the ballot box. The system only maintains its legitimacy by the proletariat maintaining belief in the system.
I personally believe that Reform emerged organically. Whether they have been consciously or unconsciously aqcuiesced to or encouraged by “the system” I am not sure. I tend to doubt it and believe that “the system” is genuinely concerned about Reform and don’t think they are that clever or co-ordinated to be able to keep up a pretence.
I am not sure if this constitute “belief in the system” or not, but I think a Reform government would almost certainly be much better than the plausible alternatives and are at least worth a try. The alternative is to continue for another few centuries until our civilisation collapses and there is renewal. Perhaps that would be better. Reform are a long way from what I think governments should be doing, or not doing, but my ideas are not shared by many.

Sadly you and I do not. It would be nice to last long enough to see our enemies defeated. Whether something anywhere near as good could be rebuilt after a collapse, I don’t know. Perhaps not.

I dont agree Hux. Anyone who has witnessed the stalling of Brexit by the Blob must surely realise that you can’t just go head long into the fight, The beliefs of the left run too strong and too deep. They are an immovable object. Its hard also to win a logical argument against them, because they have come to their views without logic, or without accepting that there is another logic. All this stuff about ‘Day 1’ Sack the civil servants, deport the Muslims etc etc is just wishful thinking. It is going to take time and guile to shift the blob. There has to be a direction of travel, and Reform will bring that. My point is that we could really do with a shared, or sharable aspiration for our nation. Right now we are at war with each other intellectually. The have to find some common ground, some common aspiration to really be able to move the blob, and win hearts and minds.

Isn’t the “Big Idea” just less socialism and smaller government? I don’t want big ideas, I want the state to get out of our lives. You could do worse than repealing most laws passed in the last few decades. My priorities would be zero immigration – leave ECHR, stop issuing visas, get rid of all illegals, cut benefits for everyone, especially immigrants, repeal Climate Change Act, Equalities Act, repeal all laws restricting freedom of speech, restrict Ofcom to technical matters, cut taxes and spending.
