Police forces are hiring diversity officers on £75,000 a year while crime rates in their areas rise. The Telegraph has the story.
Jobs being advertised by police forces with rising crime rates include a £75,000 equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights role and a £64,000 culture and inclusion lead.
Politicians said it was “unacceptable” for police forces to use taxpayers’ money to hire diversity officers instead of investing in making the streets safer.
Forces are under pressure to scrap race action plans and rethink diversity training following the murder of Henry Nowak, who was handcuffed by police while his Sikh killer, who had made false claims of racial abuse, was treated as a victim.
Serving officers suggested police staff were now so terrified of career-ending accusations of racism that they would rather bungle a murder investigation than fall foul of diversity guidelines. But there is no sign of the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) jobs boom slowing down.
The Metropolitan Police is looking for a “senior culture lead” in the culture, diversity and inclusion directorate, on a starting salary of £62,310, rising to £72,254. The force pays police constables a starting salary of £42,210.
An advertisement for the role said the successful candidate would “hold a pivotal role in… driving forward the Met’s culture, diversity and inclusion ambitions” and it would appeal to anyone “passionate about equity, inclusion and organisational transformation”.
Crime rates in London have risen from 83.3 crimes per 1,000 people in 2020 to 2021 to 106.4 in 2024 to 2025, with an explosion in mobile phone thefts partly to blame.
Police Scotland, the UK’s second-largest force after the Met, is looking for “an experienced equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights professional” with a starting salary of £75,641.
Its latest quarterly figures show Police Scotland had 123 fewer police officers at the end of March than it did at the same time last year.

Whatever fantasies we’ve ever had about what police forces are for, the reality is that they are and have always been the praetorian guard of established power.
The highest officials in the land are the most protected people and then you work your way down from there gradually until you get to young girls from low income backgrounds who are barely protected from being raped.
The establishment is determined to protect its fake equality, diversity agenda, so that’s what the police are going to do because they know who they work for and answer to.

Clearly not.
The police need to start arresting far more innocent people and fitting them up so that they can meet their diversity targets.
After all, it is not fair on society if crime is concentrated in the hands of criminals.
We need a more inclusive, diverse and equal criminal class and that means targets to be met to even up the imbalances.
