A Christian police support officer was sacked after he asked questions about Islam in a diversity training session. The Telegraph has the story.
Luke Salmons lost his job as a police community support officer (PCSO) with the North Yorkshire force and was barred from policing after a conversation about Gaza with a Muslim officer.
He later won an appeal against his dismissal but has never received an apology from the force where he said a “culture of fear” existed among officers who were terrified of being fired for saying the wrong thing.
Salmons, 46, told the Telegraph that a training day on race, religion and culture turned into an “indoctrination” session as trainers chanted “Islam is a religion of peace” and discussed white privilege.
Having been encouraged to ask questions in what staff were told was a safe space, he asked a Muslim officer about his views on terrorist attacks by Islamist groups including Hamas. The officer happily discussed the issue with him and invited him to chat further over coffee after the session.
But within two days he had been suspended for gross misconduct by an inspector who told him: “I don’t like your beliefs.”
Salmons told the Telegraph: “I loved my job and I was good at it. I was well respected as a PCSO and my colleagues said they loved working with me and couldn’t understand what was happening.
“But an overzealous inspector took against me and that was the end of my career, even though I had done nothing wrong.”
On Thursday, the Telegraph reported how police officers in the force that failed Henry Nowak felt “controlled and pressured” during diversity training.
Salmons, a father of two from Harrogate, spent 20 years working in construction before he decided to apply for a job as a PCSO because, he said: “I’m passionate about the community, partly because of my faith, and I wanted to give more to the community.”
During his eight-year policing career he received a commendation from the chief constable for the way he handled a “horrific” incident involving a person’s safety, and received a rare “outstanding” grade in a professional development review.
Then in the spring of 2024 he was asked by a superintendent to write an article about Easter for the internal intranet site “because of my religion”, only for an inspector to intervene and tell him he could not make any reference to the Bible.
His personal views were then questioned after an online training session about the growing problem of inappropriate sexual behaviour by minors towards other minors, during which participants were asked to give feedback.
Salmons suggested that if children were raised in solid family homes and taught right from wrong the problem would decrease, which resulted in the trainer reporting him to his sergeant who told him he could not talk about his morals in the workplace.
Matters came to a head in October 2024 when Salmons attended a race, religion and culture training session at the police headquarters in Northallerton.
He said: “The whole day was pretty much about Islam. At one point the trainers walked up and down the room for several minutes saying ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ over and over again. It was bizarre.
“Then, a Muslim sergeant spoke about his faith and invited questions. It was made clear that there was no such thing as a bad question and we could speak freely.
“Someone asked him about why it was bad to depict images of Mohammed, then I asked him what, as a peaceful Muslim, he thought about the situation in Gaza, with Hamas and other terrorist groups carrying out atrocities in the name of Islam.
“We had a really good discussion and I asked him what he understood jihad to mean. There was no problem, I spoke to him privately at lunch and he asked me what books I had read about Islam. He said he would love to speak to me more, so we arranged to meet for a coffee at his police station.
“I believed I was on safe ground when the training sessions invited open discussion. I quickly discovered that questioning Islam is now treated as ‘wrongthink’ within North Yorkshire Police.”
In anticipation of the meeting, he took a book with him to work called Answering Jihad – A Better Way Forward by Nabeel Qureshi, the New York Times bestselling author, a former Muslim who converted to Christianity. Two colleagues found it in his locker, photographed it and reported him as a “risk” to superiors.
The next day, he was hauled into a meeting with a female inspector who told him: “I don’t like your beliefs,” and told him to hand in his police ID and go home. He was later told he had been suspended.
He said: “There is no way that inspector would have taken a Muslim officer into a room and said ‘I don’t like your beliefs’.”
Salmons was suspended on full pay for months, and eventually resigned in April 2025. A disciplinary hearing was held in July 2025 at which he was formally dismissed for gross misconduct and placed on the College of Policing barred list.
He said: “It devastated me and my family. For months we lived in total uncertainty, with my reputation being shredded in secret.
“I resigned not because I had done anything wrong, but because the silence, the delay and the pressure became unbearable for my wife and daughters.”
With the help of the Christian Legal Centre, he appealed against his dismissal, and at a hearing in December last year, Tim Forber, the Chief Constable, overturned the decision before Salmons had even finished presenting his case.
After beginning employment tribunal proceedings, Salmons reached an out-of-court settlement with the force in April. He said he had never had an apology from North Yorkshire Police.

This is a fascinating example of what UK Column Founder ex-Royal Navy commander Brian Gerrish called “Neuro-Linguistic Programming”, this one in the form of inducing hypnosis by rhythmic chanting and repetition. Their walking movement was an imitation of a pendulum, and they were trying to cement their propaganda into the subconscious minds of the participants.
I wonder whether other tricks for inducing hypnosis and hyper-suggestibility were used to overload the senses, such as flashing lights, different colours, incense or other smells, disharmonic sounds, sudden surprises or images (like the Hari Krishna Retards used to leap out in front of Gullible Westerners). Other techniques are subtly touching the target person, or clicking the fingers, as you have no doubt seen stage hypnotists perform.
This sort of anti – Christian prejudice has also been going on for years in the NHS. When I was working for a Yorkshire NHS Trust, whose employ I left in 2006, there was a compulsory session entitled “ Celebrating Diversity “. This consisted of hours of having every religion other than Christianity lauded and rammed down our throats. The C of E chaplain who was also an attendee, and I felt that we had to put up a strong defence, and fortunately there were no repercussions. I am so glad that I am retired and no longer have to put up with such attempts at brainwashing, which I understand from friends still working in the NHS, have got much, much worse.
And people still wont believe its a take over unless we stop it, its blatant racism against whites, blatant 2 tier policing by the very police employed to serve all, not an ideologistic cult, and our own Gov promoting it, we need to get Liebour out.
This is grotesque. The latter revisions of the Koran make it clear that Islam is not a religion of peace but the opposite, and it aims to attack and displace other religions and non beliefs. That the police ‘services’ have obviously been subverted by Moslem officers and high ranking DEI appointed Common Purpose type agents requires an urgent clear out. Ordinary policing of real crime is already at an all time low and a loss of these officers would probably improve the performance while saving taxpayer’s money.
It would appear that in the Public Sector, saying somewhere is a “safe space” for open discussion is actually a trap used to identify people who do not conform.
I was in a week-long diversity course around 2002, provided by an external training company. God, it was tedious.
The first thing the trainer said on Day 1 was that it was a ‘safe space’ for views and questions, and people shouldn’t fear saying what was on their mind. I told her that acceptable words and phrases were changing week on week, and people felt like they were walking on eggshells. She emphasised how we could say what was on our minds during the course. So I did. That turned out to be a mistake.
There was a discussion early afternoon about removing the height requirement to be a copper. A chap from HR was all for it, so I asked “How far do you go? You could have pygmies and dwarves joining the Job.”
The external trainer blew a fuse, saying I had used an offensive term – “dwarves”. I was genuinely shocked. When I pointed out that ‘dwarf’ is a real word, she said that dwarfism is an illness, dwarves could be offended by my using the term, and she was offended.

These training discussions must be their way to identify staff who have the ‘wrong’ views and can then be got rid of. Why is it that these Stasi types are almost all women?
There was an odious bloke who worked for the force training unit who lived and breathed everything woke and anything diversity.
I pulled out of having a further discussion with him (for the same reasons as in my previous post) about the n-word. The subject of historic language came up, including that word, and I made the point that certain black people are hypocritical for attacking non-blacks for using the word when many black people openly use it when addressing each other, in song lyrics, and even in the name of their music group.
The trainer’s response was “It’s about ownership of the word.”
I didn’t bother replying that no-one ‘owns’ language, that there are NO words which some people should be allowed to use and others not – the epitomy of segregation. I didn’t reply because it was obvious that I couldn’t win, no matter how logical and reasonable an argument I made.
While I have great respect for the DS moderators, I am disappointed to see my post edited to “n-word” when I wrote it out fully.
I didn’t use it as a reference to anyone, I wasn’t using it as an adjective. Nor was I using it any way pejoratively or insultingly.
Whilst I understand why you edited it out, it is not an illegal word to use when used in an appropriate context – in this case conveying the specifics of a very relevant conversation many years ago.

Has the Chief Constable of N Yorks police taken any action to discipline its officers who persecuted Mr Salmons? If he hasn’t, does Christian Legal Centre have a route to applying pressure to do so? It’s high time that persecuting managers everywhere got their come uppances. The proportionate punishment is they should lose their jobs, thats what they dished out to Mr Salmons without a care.
When members of a police force can be so blatantly anti-Christian, it’s not hard to imagine or even expect them to take the short step to being anti-white.
They can’t possibly claim to police without fear or favour and deny two-tier policing exists when we see the evidence from this DEI/woke training bumf circulating all over the shop. And what ”specific needs” are they referring to?
