As of 4.30pm today, only 31 people had been arrested at Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally and the rival, pro-Palestinian Nakba Day rally – both of which took place in Central London this afternoon. But the Met hasn’t yet broken down how many were arrested at each protest, promising to do that later. The police appear to have done a good job at keeping the two rival groups apart, with my social media feed indicating the pro-Pals were much more intent on provoking violent clashes. At one point, a group of far-Left protestors started chanting “Shoot him in the neck like Charlie Kirk” about Robinson.
Judging from reports in the mainstream media, the turnout at the UTK rally was lower than it was last year – an estimated 50,000, according to the Telegraph, as opposed to last year’s 100,000, but this figure will undoubtedly be contested by the rally’s organisers. The organisers of the Nakba Day demo claimed 250,000 attendees, a number I think we can comfortably divide by 10. The Times estimates the number participating in both rallies at 80,000.
Attempts by Labour politicians and others to depict the UTK rally as ‘racist’ (David Lammy said that the organisers of the march “are spreading hatred and division”) were belied by the number of black and brown participants. GB News’s Nana Akua went to the rally to look for ‘far Right’ protestors and struggled to find any. In fact, the people on the other protest were more guilty of “spreading hatred and division”, with the usual antisemitic bile being spewed on every street corner, often by protestors displaying the Hamas red triangle. Lots of people in my social media feed have been complaining about the failure of the Met to arrest anyone for chanting ‘Globalise the Intifada’ , ‘Intifada revolution’ and similar incitements to violence against Jews, although I suspect several of the 31 arrests will have been of pro-Palestinian protestors for stirring up racial hatred.
Robinson addressed the UTK attendees from a platform in Trafalgar Square sounding quite ecumenical.

There was no appearance from Elon Musk this year warning of a coming civil war, although Robinson did invite the crowd to thank him. “None of this would have happened if it wasn’t for one man – thank you Elon, on behalf of Great Britain,” he said.
All told, then, a protest that could be described as “largely peaceful” without irony. To put the 31 arrests in context, 528 people were arrested at last year’s Notting Hill carnival, four people were stabbed and 55 police officers were assaulted.

Yes, I thought the same. But I also don’t know why people get so fixated on the numbers anyway. Nobody can put an actual figure on the number of attendees and the aerial footage shows us there were shedloads of people there, so we have a general idea. Plus, the fact is it’s not even a true representation of those who share the sentiment of these people because there’ll be many more who supported UTK from afar because they couldn’t physically be there. So I couldn’t care less what numbers people want to guestimate and report because you know the patriots will always be underestimated and the pro-Pally lot will always be overestimated by the press.
I’ve always been slightly unsettled by some of Toby’s output, but I always give him the benefit of the doubt because this place was my only real refuge during Covid.
The numbers are, of course, incredibly important and the state knows it. The bigger the number, the greater the pull, until a critical mass is formed and the thing rolls in a direction that would see gallows being erected up and down the country. That’s what terrifies them and that’s why they make sure the number that’s reported is as small as they possibly can get away with without looking ridiculous. They need the people divided and this sort of event unites people in numbers that sends shivers down their spines. Far better to download the whole thing and keep the gathering mob at bay.

You are spot on, but the UKC has always been that way, as I learned many years ago while attending a UKC public lecture and meeting, after which the public were invited to ask questions. When I raised the spectre of Muslim Rape Gangs, I was shouted down by the audience and derided by the speaker Brian Gerrish, who was then thunderously applauded by the audience for having politically correct views. I never went back.
No wonder they keep arresting him. The guy is asking for trouble, The last time the British public got political and voted in a way the establishment didn’t approve, all hell broke loose.
The Brexit vote triggered an unprecedented attack on our freedom of expression and the normalisation of arrests of political dissidents. God knows what voting en mass for the wrong party will unleash.

It’s really good that there was essentially no trouble, I saw a YouTube video of one man being arrested although he appeared to do nothing wrong. Once suggestion was he was arrested because the police were already looking for him, maybe their much vaunted facial recognition equipment may have actually worked for once.
It was Ryan Bridge, co-founder of the Raise the Colours campaign, who was arrested by about six police officers while trying to join Tommy Robinson’s rally today. He has been arrested before for putting up British and England flags in Oxfordshire, after Leftist agitators accused him of “causing alarm and distress” by putting up the national flags of his country.
