Trans Green Party Candidate With No Permanent British Visa is Elected to Holyrood

2 min read

A biologically male trans Green candidate, who had been crowdfunding for a temporary UK visa days before the election, has now been voted into Holyrood as an MSP. The Mail has more.

Q. Manivannan, 29, began a fundraiser for a temporary graduate visa before [his] election to Holyrood as an MSP this week.

Dr Manivannan, a non-binary Indian immigrant who came to Scotland in 2021, sent messages to party colleagues asking them to donate to a fundraiser seeking to collect £2,089 for the visa, which would allow [him] three years to work and live in the UK.

A newly-elected regional list MSP who stood in Edinburgh and Lothian East, Dr Manivannan said the time-limited right to stay in the country would allow [him] to save for the £5,047 cost of applying for a global talent visa. …

Former Conservative MSP Sue Webber, who failed to win a seat on Friday, had previously said: “Voters will be astonished that this candidate doesn’t even know if they will be able to stay in the country going forward.”

Dr Manivannan was elected as one of the first two transgender MSPs to sit in Holyrood …

Dr Manivannan was able to stand for Holyrood despite not being a UK citizen because of legislation passed under the SNP Government in 2020.

Under the updated election law anyone with the right to live in the UK, including those with a temporary right to vote, can stand as a candidate at elections to the Scottish Parliament. …

Since January last year Dr Manivannan has been listed as a co-convenor of the Scottish Green Party’s Palestine Solidarity Group.

They have pledged to support activist group Mothers Against Genocide’s Manifesto for Scotland, including pushing to enforce the Scottish Parliament’s boycott, divest and sanction (BDS) motion.

Worth reading in full.

The sooner we get independence for England the better.

The Scots and Welsh Nazi Parties think democracy means excluding a huge part of the electorate from the government process, because they don’t like them, and they dared to vote Reform UK instead of them.

We all know the Green Party is a basket case. Alongside this Dr (Wo)Manivannan, we have a newly-elected Mayor of Haringey who’s admitted to drug use in the past. She doesn’t say whether that use was illegal or not, so we’re left to draw our own conclusions.

I strongly suspect that Dr Manivannan is not only a trans-woman but also, a trans-doctor and was neither of both before he became a Green Party candidate, ie, his acceptance was conditional on claiming to be both in exchange for a right to live in Scottland and a handy pay cheque.

Without Commonwealth citizens from India voting for Brexit because of the semi-tacit promise of replacing immigration from the EU with immigration from India, the latter wouldn’t ever had had a chance of being delivered, as Theresa “No more queue jumpers!” May and Boris “Get Calcutta moving!” Johnson duly did.

Every Commonwealth citizen who’s legally in the UK in whichever way, including student’s and temporary work visa, has a right to vote in all UK elections.

Funny how every trade negotiation with India involves making it easier for Indians to come to the UK, almost as if they are trying to get rid of some of their population….

Presumably it would be illegal for them to be paid as they don’t have the right to work in the country.

How does this work?
It is illegal to employ people without first checking their right to employment.
The employer is legally obliged to carry out checks on candidates.
And yes, of course, he’s a bloke.

Please stop using the nonsense phrase “biologically male”. There’s no other way to be male. Male is a biological term.

He’s not ‘trans’ at all, he’s just a man with long hair who’s taking the piss. Have a listen to him speak. Do you detect a sort of weird pseudo Scottish accent + thick Indian accent combo going on, which just screams ”Trying too hard!”? Who acquires an accent after living somewhere for just a few years?
Also, is he meant to be trans or non-binary? I don’t think people typically identify as both. Shyster;

”Transgender non-binary migrant without legal right to work in the UK gets elected as new Member of the Scottish Parliament.
“I am a transgender Tamil immigrant. My pronouns are they/them.”
He will now earn £77,711 ($105k) a year despite not having the right to work in the UK.”

It’s absolutely astonishing that this should be allowed for a national government.

Any kind of government. 😡

Nothing the Scottish parliament does is astonishing; disappointing is a better description imho.

Somehow disappointing doesn’t quite cover it. I’d use the word appalling for a start. I look at my fellow Scots in horror now. Everything seems to be a big joke on them and they don’t realise it. I really do fear for the future of Scottish people. I console myself with the fact that more people didn’t vote for the SNP than did but the opposition is fragmented. We’re done for unless the opposition work together but that’s not looking likely at the moment.

This isn’t any old kind of Government – it’s the SNP, the Scottish Numpty Party. They live in a different world from the rest of us who they hate.

… And yet it’s totally consistent with the Green Party’s open borders policy. Once you cease recognising national borders, then anyone can stand for any parliament anywhere, regardless of where they currently reside. How could that possibly go wrong?
