“RAISE THE COLOURS!”

Is anyone on here flying, carrying, wearing or displaying England’s National Flag in honour of England’s National Day today?

Keir Starmer shares St George’s Day message – but fails to mention England | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

“If the fire-bombed synagogues had been mosques, the Government would respond very differently”

If the fire-bombed synagogues had been CHURCHES, the Government wouldn’t respond at all.

Is it any wonder young people won’t fight for Britain?”

Leaving aside the obvious point that things were different then, I wonder, were it possible, if transporting a core sample of the young men, who sacrificed themselves in either of the world wars, to today’s London, whether any of them might consider the sacrifice was worth it, and how many of them would change their mind about ‘fighting for Britain’?

A land fit for heroes… indeed.

”The past is a foreign country..”, applies across many contexts, of course, because we’re never getting anything resembling previous generations back. With regards this example: I don’t know if it’s possible to reach previous levels of patriotism again. What would it take? A radically different government to steer the country back on course to some degree? What if the UK doesn’t get a radically different leadership? What if Reform miraculously get in at the next election but by then they resemble nothing like how they started out, because they seem to be undergoing quite the metamorphosis?
I think if Reform can win and they keep all their pledges about immigration, abolishing DEI/woke crap ( essential as this destructive bilge is indoctrinating kids/young people away from feeling proud of their country and heritage, as well as all the gender woo stuff, and has obviously infested the entire armed forces ) etc, then Britain might just stand a chance. However, harking back to times that we’ll never see again is an exercise in futility.

”When I joined the Royal Marines, apart from the personal feeling of accomplishment I had in passing one of the toughest military courses in the world, an additional source of pride was that I now represented Britain. Whenever Britain needed to exercise power or if Britain ever came under threat and on the news they’d be saying things like, “The govt has ordered the Marines to be on stand by” they were talking about ME, and I enjoyed being a small part of the bigger cause. “We Brits are all on the same team and I’m doing my bit” you might think is a naive or simplistic view but I was brought up to be proud of my country and my Grandad did fight in the War, (no one ‘hated’ Britain growing up, self loathing is an entirely new phenomenon introduced over the last 20 years).

It’s hard enough to get respect in civilian society when you’re pigeon holed as a former soldier anyway, but it’s clear that those in the Westminster bubble Knighted clique have absolutely no respect for you at all.
Do NOT join the Armed Forces*, use all your skills and physical capabilities to earn a good… Read more »

“Police need new powers to tackle antisemitic attacks, says terror watchdog”

Why is it that the answer to all societies ills is always ‘new powers’, rather than effectively using the ones we already have?

No cool new thing to announce if the answer is just ‘enforce the laws we have now’…

“Ed Miliband’s green energy is going to waste, says EDF boss”

It started off as waste! We could have had a good reliable cheap plentiful nuclear/hydrocarbon based energy grid with the money wasted on green energy!

Nuclear isn’t cheap. It is the most expensive spinning generation there is. There isn’t a single nuclear power station anywhere in the World that was built either by Governments with taxpayer cash, or heavily subsidised with taxpayer cash.

Hinckley Point C (EDF + Chinese consortium) is being bailed out by the taxpayer and guaranteed £128 per MWh wholesale price, inflation linked for operational lifetime. Gas is currently £70 per MWh.

Telecoms firms warn they may have to ration mobile signal to save energy, according to the Sun.

So people won’t be able to go about their business, whilst AI is free to burn up energy replacing their business. Somehow that awakens the Luddite in me.

So is it the woke youth or a country that doesn’t inspire them to patriotism. After this week’s shenanigans I am tending towards the latter.

The woke youth I wouldn’t trust with a stick, let alone a rifle.
