This week Sadiq Khan made a visit to the Regent Street pop-up store of the charity Choose Love. He is not the only one to do so. As well as an onslaught of celebrities appearing in recent times, yours truly popped in earlier in the month. Today I will share my findings with Daily Sceptic readers just to cheer you all up at this festive time.
But before that, a quick recap: Choose Love is a registered charity in the UK (and there is also “Choose Love, Inc” in the US) which says it is “a movement of people who are using love to make the world a better place”. On social media it posts messages such as “REFUGEES WELCOME HERE” and “Choose Love over hate. Stand with refugees.” Its very slogan implies that one’s attitude to border control is simply a matter of whether you “choose love” or (presumably) hate. Never do you see anyone representing Choose Love discuss the murder of Rhiannon Whyte last year by a Sudanese asylum seeker, who stabbed her 23 times with a screwdriver. In fact, the Choose Love pop-up actually had this display inside it:
Nor would Choose Love representatives bring up Wayne Broadhurst, who was stabbed to death as he walked his dog in Uxbridge. An Afghan refugee has been accused of fatally stabbing Broadhurst along with the attempted murder of his landlord and a 14 year-old boy. Did they not “Choose Love”?

If people want to give their time and money then they are welcome to do so in the name of free speech. However, looking back to similar campaigns they will go away in the light of reality. Did we ‘Ban the Bomb’, ‘Flower Power’ ‘Crazy Horses’.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to attract so many people to this country. If people are genuinely fleeing something in their own country, it’s not realistic that they can all come to Europe and UK. Surely it’s the responsibility of the country they’re fleeing from to sort themselves out. If everybody flees their country to the West, things will never improve. Also it’s’ clear that migration is causing problems in the UK and so we need to stop granting asylum to so many people at the present time, especially as it’s unlikely that they are all genuine. We have so many of our own problems to sort out. Instead of spending so much money on hotels etc., more money should be spent on investigating and trying to mitigate some of the problems that lead people to come to this country in the first place
However, that does not mean it’s necessary to paint all migrants as rapists and criminals.

Currently, some interviews for university places now include a surprise discussion on personal attitudes to immigrants (as well as climate bs.). No matter what the subject. No pressure, of course. “Othering” and demonising are to be deplored, unless it’s Trump or Reform, naturally, then that’s fine.
That would suggest it is not a university that is serious nor one you would want to go to.

As stewart pointed out the other day, it’s the same old left wing tactic of portraying everyone you don’t agree with as a bad person. Who wouldn’t “choose love”?
In a similar vein I saw some houses in my area with “Hold on to hope” posters in the window. Again who wouldn’t want to do that? Turns out it’s a “campaign” of Hope not Hate, which seems to exist primarily as an organisation for promoting open borders and portraying anyone who doesn’t agree as a horrid racist.

The above is one of many fluffy phrases that no-one could argue with, surely? But it’s a very particular kind of “hate” they are against.
