In December last year, I wrote for the Daily Sceptic about a youth democracy charity titled My Life My Say.
I believe it is no more than a voting nudge-unit for Labour/Left-wing parties, despite its claim to be a “youth-led, non-partisan movement on a mission to encourage young people to participate in democracy”. I am on my own mission to elevate its profile – so significant do I consider its efforts to influence voter behaviour.
Today I will show you the line up for its ghastly 'Next Gen Conference 2025', which takes place on Saturday this week and fuels my impression of the charity being Left-wing in nature.
But before that, let me show you 10 reasons so far that I think this is a voting nudge-unit for Labour/the Left:
- It was founded by Mete Coban, who is Sadiq Khan’s £150,000 per year Deputy Mayor for the Environment, and is now one of the charity’s Directors.
- Coban was CEO of the charity while he was Cabinet Member for the Environment at Labour-run Hackney Council.
- According to Coban’s own account, Alastair Campbell helped him set up the charity over a decade ago.
- The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change partners with My Life My Say.
- The charity has received funding from the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation (which are notoriously Left-wing, the latter promoting open borders), as well as receiving funding from the US Embassy in London

How Alastair Campbell still has the nerve to pronounce in public eludes me. I think maybe he would be better providing advice close to home.

How long before they call it the National Socialist Party, or has that name been already taken?
The whole thing is perfectly consistent with the general attitude of people with socially progressive, socialist mindsets.
They don’t see themselves as being on one side of an argument. They see their positions as being the only morally defensible position and anything else as immoral.
Not long ago I had a conversation with some recent university graduates in which abortion came up. When presented with the case against abortion, it’s not just that they disagreed, it’s that they were truly horrified that I would even put the arguments across. It’s as if just presenting the argument was way beyond the pale.
To some degree that is the typical response with any of these hot issues – immigration, gay and trans rights, feminism, Donald Trump, economic collectivism. There is the morally correct position and there’s the extremist, fascist position.
So labelling that organisation as non-partisan plays well to the mindset of people of a certain age. Obviously the people behind it know exactly what they are doing.
