During the run-up to the General Election, one of the strangest points made by some politicians was that the country needs to invest more in Net Zero.
"Net Zero is economic growth, the opportunities are huge but we have to grasp them," said SNP leader Stephen Flynn in a BBC televised debate.
Around this time I was researching the U.K. Research and Innovation (UKRI), a quango that spends just under £9 billion in taxpayers’ money per year on university projects, and knew that it was far from the case that the Conservatives had scrimped on environmental initiatives.
Type “Net Zero” into the UKRI portal (where every taxpayer-funded study is listed) and you get a sense of the colossal amounts going into this area. Of the 1,977 projects currently underway, the most expensive costs £77.4 million.
Projects costing into the tens of millions follow, including one about 'Hybrid Hydrogen Flying cryoGenic tecHnology demonstraTor [sic]' worth £24.2 million and 'Safety Critical Harsh Environment Micro-processing Evolution' at £22.4 million.
I have no idea what any of this means, incidentally, so I am not going to comment on those studies’ merits. But there’s definitely a “fluffier” end of the Net Zero projects scale, such as the study on the “need to understand how our diverse population can become more 'carbon capable'”. Former Conservative MP Chris Skidmore is earning at least £420 an hour from his green consultancy for advising on decarbonisation. I would, free of charge, advise his clients that they are wasting their money. The problem is that it is your money they are wasting.

Green eco fascism/net zero is mostly a money laundering scheme. As a local councillor once, I revealed the miserable fraud, paybacks and bribes to install on perfectly wonderful farmland, a massive solar panel farm. None of the usual processes were followed. Faux consultations. The project was fast-tracked, but so were the bribes and payments. Everyone made money including gov’t workers, politicians and the media, not to mention the corporations involved. It has 0 to do with Gaia. It has evthg to do with sin and greed.
Same entirely for wind farms in Wales.
Subsidy farms.
