Boris Johnson loyalist Nadine Dorries appears to have admitted that the Government, which now prides itself on having imposed restrictions more lightly than others, considered tearing “mothers and fathers and families and children” from their homes if they ‘tested positive’ for Covid during lockdowns to be sent to isolation centres.
A health minister at the time, Ms. Dorries was approached by former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and told to adopt this ‘Zero Covid’ approach, she told GB News.
The now-Culture Secretary told Dan Wootton, who decided not to dig deeper into the claims:
[Jeremy] said ‘you’ve got to speak to Matt [Hancock]’. It was at the time Nightingale hospitals were being built. ‘You’ve got to tell him that you don’t put sick people in the hospitals, you follow a “Zero Covid” policy… When someone tests positive, you take them from their home and you take them to an isolation centre and you leave them there… That’s the only way you can beat Covid.’
Ms. Dorries said she responded:
‘The British public will not stand for mothers and fathers and families and children being removed from their family and their home and put in isolation.’ He said: ‘Who said they won’t?’ I said: ‘The behaviour and insights team who I’ve discussed this with. They won’t wear it.’
This is very revealing. Anyone with an ounce of humanity would have rejected this outright, whether she thought the public would accept it or not.
Remember, also, that those officials in SAGE believed the British people wouldn’t accept being ‘locked down’ at all until Italy made it clear that they would.
Professor Neil Ferguson told The Times in December 2020:
[China] is a communist one party state, we said. We couldn’t get away with it in Europe, we thought… and then Italy did it. And we realised we could.
So has Ms. Dorries revealed that the only reason we weren’t pulled away from our families after seeing two red lines was because other Europeans weren’t first?

That Hunt creature must never be allowed anywhere near power ever again.
Pure evil. This is the kind of thing which should be resisted at all costs. Anybody who thinks this totalitarian nightmare is over should think again. Keep focused everybody and never let these b*st@rds off the hook
Indeed. Never again! We can never, EVER, allow them to pull the wool over our eyes again! Give them an inch, they take a mile, every single time.
Indeed… you can feel the fear bubbling up again in the middle of summer. Summer! That time when lots of people traditionally have a respiratory disease – NOT! But of course, it’s because COVID is different and nothing to do with a novel untested vaccine we gave to missions, most of whom didn’t need it.
Quadruple vaccinated friend has caught COVID for the 4th time and they don’t really socialise. Calling for return of restrictions and masks. They didn’t work before, why would they work now?
I would be very interested in if we tested so manically for previous coronavirus that we’d see similar levels.
Oh please.
This is just part of the Tory leadership race.
It might have happened, but why is she telling us now? Why not 6 months ago?
For the same reason that the No.10 parties and well known misdemeanours of ministers were made public when they were.
All these people are exposing over and over again is what a bunch of scumbags they all are. All they really care about are their horrid little political games.
This may well be the case. But this kind of information would seem relevant for that to me.
The only relevant information I draw is that Nadine Dorres leaves no doubt that she is a ruthless political operator who doesn’t give a toss whether people are taken to isolation centres or not. The only interest she has in the subject is how she can use it for her own political gain. In this case, thwart Jeremy Hunt’s political ambitions
I don’t even want to think what horrific ideas for dealing with the coronavirus will have been aired behind closed doors over the last 2 years. I’m sure this one isn’t the worst.
Prominent politician championing more aggressive, woke-compatible online censorship to protect the children is actually a politician and doesn’t seem to have more of a conscience than her peers is hardly news.
They should be on trial for crimes against humanity
For that to happen you’d need a legal and judiciary system that believe a crime has been committed but unfortunately we haven’t got one. In their eyes everything that happened needed to have happened for the greater good.
They’re like rats, scampering over each other to get to the top of the sewer. In a grim way, it’s a shame they didn’t try out this policy – would have been a good wake up call for the Thursday pot clangers.
The reality CG is that for this to have happened would have required honest diagnosis of so-called C1984.
With upwards of 50,000 alleged infections every day, space for 250,000 would have been required from Week 1, for a bad cold at worst and when NHS advice was to go home and treat yourself as if for ‘flu. So either ditch the PCR garbage and see infections fall off a cliff or continue with the scam. For obvious reasons they chose the latter.
Doolally Dorries is making this up. Or in real speak – lying.
Indeed, such a policy, euphemistically called “centralized quarantine”, only works at the very, very beginning when case numbers are very low. That’s because it requires good contact tracing to know who more or less who is infected, and when the numbers get too high the math simply no longer works anymore.
A better argument for why ‘more of the same’ simply won’t do would be hard to find.
Cameron’s, May’s, Bunter’s teams are all completely discredited.
Time to skip on to the next generation.
Kemi Badenoch
She was on Bunter’s team.
We need people who haven’t shown themselves to be moral imbeciles.
There are only ‘moral imbeciles’ standing.
But, otherwise, really good thinking.
Which is why your enthusiasm for her is moronic.
I’d prefer a moral imbecile who didn’t insult us by pretending they resigned this month because of Johnson’s lies about Pincher.
One of her constituents commenting on the Reddit sceptic site set up after Toby insulted many of the BTL commenters here made it clear that Badenoch didn’t give a sh*t about the damage being inflicted by Lockdown on the small businesses in Saffron Walden, a constituency she was parachuted into and with which, not surprisingly for a Yoruba, she had no connection.
You are absolutely right. There do seem to be a lot of bigoted morons about, particularly those ones, you know, who cannot even define British ethnicity.
You make distinguishing between moral imbeciles sound quite easy. Probably it helps to be one.
There were doubtlessly backroom actors pushing for Chinese-style COVID concentration camps at that time. One should also keep in mind that these were actually implemented in New Zealand with the police gaining the power to detain everyone there they deemed a danger for public health who had tested positive for Sars-CoV2. And each and every of the sanctimoniously masked who still roam the streets also wanted others to be put there.
There is a very good article listed in today’s ’round up’
‘….who could forget the scotch-egg rule’

Remarkable how the draconian restrictions of very recent memory get no mention in the leadership contest; an embarrassed silence……but without the embarrassment….
As Bunter himself said: ‘When the herd moves, it moves’. How we laughed. Hilarious!
He and his entire government were part of that illiberal and profoundly bovine national and international lockdown herd.
But so were Her Majesty’s opposition.
It is for that reason, and that reason alone, that the Conservative party still has a chance to win the next election.
And whoever they pick as leader will be tainted by association with the most disastrous set of policies, the worst Prime Minister, government and parliament in this country’s history.
But they will get away with it because just about every journalist of note was part of that fat, useless, mindless, oafish, herd as well.
Javid pulling out. Good.
Just 8 more to go.
Hunt is basically a Fascist – any anyone who didn’t immediately reject this proposal is no better than the SS.
Let’s pray Jeremy Hunt isn’t the next PM then (though whichever one is his replacement is just another puppet of the puppeteers – why was Bill Gates here on 6th July, arriving at 9pm by private jet?!). Utter evil. And I am afraid Nadine Dorries is no better – her attitude towards and reply to the cross-party joint Commons-Lords committee when questioning her about the Online Safety Bill was appalling, an extraordinary lack of respect and virtual-rudeness.
I always thought that Jeremy Hunt was rhyming slang.
