And Finally…

by Toby Young
17 January 2022 10:21 PM

In this week’s London Calling, James and I argue about whether we’re witnessing the end of Covid hysteria; discuss the Johnny-come-latelies who claim to have been lockdown sceptics all along; worry that it may be all over for our old friend Boris (although James isn’t that worried); question why the BBC doesn’t become a subscription service if it’s such great value for money; and, in culture corner, James praises Yellowjackets, while I give lukewarm reviews to The Duke, Being the Ricardos and Red Rocket.

Wait? What?

This surely can’t be the same Dominic Cummings who Johnson burned massive capital trying to save after he (DC) went off an a road trip across the whole country at the height of the restrictions despite being a Govidian lockdowner fetishist?

UK government hires ad agency to convince the public they don’t need privacy
https://reclaimthenet.org/uk-government-hires-ad-agency-privacy/
The government thinks all communications should be available for snooping. The UK is stepping up its “war on encryption,” reports are saying, and like in any good old war, propaganda comes first to “prepare the ground.” And a new campaign is expected to launch as early as this month.

It turns out my cat is Team Toby, which is a real disappointment. Cock-up? It’s like she hasn’t been paying attention.

Toby was at Piers Morgan’s Christmas party in 2019 (he floated the idea of a post Brexit “truth and reconciliation” committee with the FT editor who claimed he was never anti-“Brexit” – rather like we’re starting to see over lockdowns (strewth, I hope that’s true))!!!
And on that bombshell…

Never mind the media. Actually read what Dominic Cummings published today. All the MSM commentary on it has been worthless. Some points:

  • 1. Why was there “intense conflict” over the future of the Cabinet Office, Simon Case, and Martin Reynolds BEFORE the 20 May 2020 party? (Recall that Simon Case has close connections with the royal family.) That sounds like a far more fundamental issue than whether having a party in a garden is “work” or not. No newspaper is covering this.
  • 2. Then read this bit: “I notice that when I explained about the PM trying to go see the Queen when he might have been infectious and I stopped him, No10 issued a total denial and I was told that ‘Martin is supporting the PM’s denial’. This episode was also witnessed by others who will tell the official inquiry that what I have said is true and the official denials are false.” Now why on earth might Sue Gray consider the “Johnson wanted to go to see the monarch but Cummings told him he shouldn’t” business? There must be a reason.
  • 3. You know that photo of the monarch looking sombre in some chapel somewhere, oh so “socially distanced”, something to do with the funeral of a workshy upper-class reincarnationist who despised the unemployed and Indians? Guess what. That has been brought out again FOR A REASON. An effort is being made to make the monarch (and by extension the intending monarch, the loony crown prince) look clean, clean, clean. Why? And this is at a time when they’re putting it out that one of their family will be facing Virginia Giuffre in court as a “commoner”…at least until she gets “Alma-ed” or the judge gets paid off, that is, given that the said second son’s dignified use of the so-respected style “HRH” has only been suspended, not terminated.
  • 4. Cummings again: “On 20 May, after the PPS sent the invitation to the drinks party, a very senior official replied by email saying the invite broke the rules. This email will be seen by Sue Gray (unless there is a foolish coverup which would also probably be a criminal offence).” So he’s trying to influence Sue Gray – this is clear. If anybody reading this isn’t convinced, read how he concludes: “There are many other photos of parties after I left yet to appear. I’ll say more when SG’s report is published.“
  • 5. Has Sue Gray interviewed Cummings? Either she hasn’t, and you can see which way that goes. Or she has and there are issues arising, and she may possibly be taking it into her head to stitch him up…or at least he thinks this is what she might be doing…and he’s shooting across her bows. Once again, as far as I’m aware this obvious question hasn’t been asked anywhere in the MSM.
  • 6. Gossip says Rishi Sunak is Cummings’s preferred successor to Boris Johnson as PM. That could well be true. If it is, that would be until about the middle of next year, before Michael Gove took over. Don’t underestimate Gove. Gove was moved out of the Cabinet Office before the shit started hitting the fan and for that reason.
  • 7. Expect more fun and games as this week wears on.

The VILE… REPELLENT…NOXIOUS Piers Morgan
James, you really are going to have to learn to unlock your feelings. Take a deep breath, count to three, and tell us what you really think about Piers.
PS: I beat you to the Australa as Japanese soldier idea months ago. Not that I’m bragging.
