The West "provoked" the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Nigel Farage has said. The expansion of NATO and the European Union gave Putin "an excuse" to go to war.

In Western Europe and North America, people overwhelmingly blame Russia for the war in Ukraine. But in "neutral" non-Western countries – like India, Turkey and Indonesia – public opinion is much more divided.
Outrage seems to be the emotion driving current policy towards Russia, replacing the Fear that had dominated Covid policymaking in the past two years. But outrage, however justified, is no basis for achieving peace.
