The use of antidepressants among British children has reached an all-time high over the past year of lockdowns, with many children having been prescribed drugs because waiting times to see professionals were too long.
Children as young as five are having panic attacks over meeting their friends following more than a year of lockdowns, with some GPs warning parents "not to bother” waiting for an NHS appointment.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation has "reached some conclusions" on giving children Covid vaccines, but the Health Department says it is waiting for a "formal recommendation" before considering further.
The Department for Education has instructed schools to be prepared for the reintroduction of face masks in classrooms and for the return of remote learning in case of "local outbreaks of Covid".
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is to recommend against the vaccination of under-18s until there is more safety data, according to the Telegraph.
A member of the Government's NERVTAG advisory group says "there’s a very strong argument" for vaccinating children against Covid, largely due to the prevalence of Covid variants.
Moderna has asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to extend the emergency use of its Covid vaccine to American children aged 12 and over.
Nicola Sturgeon says Scottish children will be vaccinated "as quickly as possible" if the JCVI approves the vaccination of children aged 12 and over. Planning for a child vaccine roll-out has started already.
School leaders have swung into action following the approval of the use of the Pfizer vaccine in those aged 12-15, calling on the Government to vaccinate schoolchildren before the start of the summer holidays.
Travel to France will be allowed from June 9th, but Brits who aren't fully vaccinated will need a "compelling reason" to visit the country and will be required to quarantine for a week if granted entry.
