It’s not really “a new study challenges orthodox climate science”; it simply re-states orthodox thermodynamics before it got corrupted by NASA/GISS/UN, Mann and “post-normal science”. This corruption introduced the whole of the carbon dioxide theory (yet miraculously excluded water vapour and phytoplankton) which led to the idea that carbon dioxide “trapped” heat. Alarmists point to the work of Arrhenius and Fourier on absorption of infra-red radiation by gases in test tubes, but then ignore the work of Nusselt, Reynolds, Grashof, Prandtl and all the other forgotten engineers who investigated how convection operates.on a much large scale than test tubes. On a global scale, convection dominates how heat is transported from the Equator to the poles. Absorption by trace gases affects the *height* at which radiant energy at different wavelengths are mostly absorbed, but it doesn’t affect *how much* energy is being absorbed.
