Happy Christmas!

The first of three Christmas Bob Moran cartoons exclusive to Lockdown Sceptics

For the three days over Christmas – starting today – we’re publishing a pared down version of Lockdown Sceptics so we can have a bit of time off over Christmas. Cartoonist Bob Moran has very kindly given us three original cartoons which we’re running on consecutive days and, below them, we’re including a round-up, as well as an And Finally…, but little else.

Happy Christmas to all our readers. Thanks for all your links, stories and suggestions, as well as your comments below the line and in the forums. Lockdown Sceptics is really a collaboration between our small team, the commenters and the people who email us at lockdownsceptics@gmail.com – like Mitesh B. Karia, who sends us dozens of links to interesting articles every day. To date, we’ve had over 21,000 emails and we do our best to read every one.

Back in April, when Toby set up this blog, he imagined he’d be signing off about now. Turns out, that was a bit naive. God knows when this madness will end, but at least there are some comforts in this digital camaraderie. Readers often get in touch to say Lockdown Sceptics has kept them sane. The feeling’s mutual.

Is the London surge ending already?

From the ZOE Covid App report on December 24th

The percentage of London ZOE Covid app users reporting feeling unwell has plummeted in the last two days. A blip or sign of things to come?

And Stockholm, too?

Source: Government of Sweden

Covid ICU admissions in Stockholm (where there’s still no lockdown) halved last week compared to the week before, according to official figures released yesterday. A Christmas reporting delay or the fizzling out of the autumn surge? Watch this space.

Round-up

  • “Covid: Some Good News” – Three nuggets of glad tidings from the Swiss Doctor to cheer your day
  • “People who have had Covid could be just as vulnerable to new South African variant” – Telegraph report on the scaremongering comments of the chairman of NERVTAG, Professor Peter Horby, made it seems without any evidence of anyone actually being re-infected
  • “Major UK testing lab suffers coronavirus outbreak after claims of safety breaches” – Sky News report on problems at the Milton Keynes Lighthouse Megalab that will surprise no Lockdown Sceptics readers
  • “Let’s put the straw man of pandemic denial out of his misery” – Jacob Hale Russell and Dennis Patterson in STAT distinguish denialism from scepticism
  • “Contrast Between New York And Florida” – Francis Menton in the Manhattan Contrarian points out that low-restriction Florida has fared better on every metric than lockdown New York
  • “Pfizer and Moderna’s ‘95% effective’ vaccines – let’s be cautious and first see the full data” – Peter Doshi in the BMJ has some probing questions and calls for full transparency and rigorous scrutiny of the data
  • “It’s time to talk about how lockdowns have plunged society into a mass mental health crisis” – Sherelle Jacobs in the Telegraph says the mental impact of lockdowns has been of extraordinarily little interest to academics and activists
  • “Lockdown money-printing sets us up for an even greater Covid collapse” – Liam Halligan in the Telegraph says the Bank of England is inoculating No 10 from hard choices
  • “A postcard from Brazil, where party-loving residents are fighting calls for another lockdown” – Telegraph report that the country’s tourism minister Gilson Machado has said that while New Year’s Eve events “need to happen” they should be limited to just 300 people

Love in the Time of Covid

We have created some Lockdown Sceptics Forums, including a dating forum called “Love in a Covid Climate” that has attracted a bit of attention. We have a team of moderators in place to remove spam and deal with the trolls, but sometimes it takes a little while so please bear with us. You have to register to use the Forums, but that should just be a one-time thing. Any problems, email the Lockdown Sceptics webmaster Ian Rons here.

Sharing Stories

Some of you have asked how to link to particular stories on Lockdown Sceptics so you can share it. To do that, click on the headline of a particular story and a link symbol will appear on the right-hand side of the headline. Click on the link and the URL of your page will switch to the URL of that particular story. You can then copy that URL and either email it to your friends or post it on social media. Please do share the stories.

Social Media Accounts

You can follow Lockdown Sceptics on our social media accounts which are updated throughout the day. To follow us on Facebook, click here; to follow us on Twitter, click here; to follow us on Instagram, click here; to follow us on Parler, click here; and to follow us on MeWe, click here.

We’ve decided to create a permanent slot down here for woke gobbledegook. Today,

“Mask Exempt” Lanyards

We’ve created a one-stop shop down here for people who want to buy (or make) a “Mask Exempt” lanyard/card. You can print out and laminate a fairly standard one for free here and it has the advantage of not explicitly claiming you have a disability. But if you have no qualms about that (or you are disabled), you can buy a lanyard from Amazon saying you do have a disability/medical exemption here (takes a while to arrive). The Government has instructions on how to download an official “Mask Exempt” notice to put on your phone here. You can get a “Hidden Disability” tag from ebay here and an “exempt” card with lanyard for just £1.99 from Etsy here. And, finally, if you feel obliged to wear a mask but want to signal your disapproval of having to do so, you can get a “sexy world” mask with the Swedish flag on it here.

Don’t forget to sign the petition on the UK Government’s petitions website calling for an end to mandatory face masks in shops here.

A reader has started a website that contains some useful guidance about how you can claim legal exemption. Another reader has created an Android app which displays “I am exempt from wearing a face mask” on your phone. Only 99p, and he’s even said he’ll donate half the money to Lockdown Sceptics, so everyone wins.

If you’re a shop owner and you want to let your customers know you will not be insisting on face masks or asking them what their reasons for exemption are, you can download a friendly sign to stick in your window here.

And here’s an excellent piece about the ineffectiveness of masks by a Roger W. Koops, who has a doctorate in organic chemistry. See also the Swiss Doctor’s thorough review of the scientific evidence here.

The Great Barrington Declaration

Professor Martin Kulldorff, Professor Sunetra Gupta and Professor Jay Bhattacharya

The Great Barrington Declaration, a petition started by Professor Martin Kulldorff, Professor Sunetra Gupta and Professor Jay Bhattacharya calling for a strategy of “Focused Protection” (protect the elderly and the vulnerable and let everyone else get on with life), was launched in October and the lockdown zealots have been doing their best to discredit it ever since. If you googled it a week after launch, the top hits were three smear pieces from the Guardian, including: “Herd immunity letter signed by fake experts including ‘Dr Johnny Bananas’.” (Freddie Sayers at UnHerd warned us about this the day before it appeared.) On the bright side, Google UK has stopped shadow banning it, so the actual Declaration now tops the search results – and Toby’s Spectator piece about the attempt to suppress it is among the top hits – although discussion of it has been censored by Reddit. The reason the zealots hate it, of course, is that it gives the lie to their claim that “the science” only supports their strategy. These three scientists are every bit as eminent – more eminent – than the pro-lockdown fanatics so expect no let up in the attacks. (Wikipedia has also done a smear job.)

You can find it here. Please sign it. Now over three quarters of a million signatures.

Update: The authors of the GBD have expanded the FAQs to deal with some of the arguments and smears that have been made against their proposal. Worth reading in full.

Update 2: Many of the signatories of the Great Barrington Declaration are involved with new UK anti-lockdown campaign Recovery. Find out more and join here.

Update 3: You can watch Sunetra Gupta set out the case for “Focused Protection” here and Jay Bhattacharya make it here.

Update 4: The three GBD authors plus Prof Carl Heneghan of CEBM have launched a new website collateralglobal.org, “a global repository for research into the collateral effects of the COVID-19 lockdown measures”. Follow Collateral Global on Twitter here.

Judicial Reviews Against the Government

There are now so many JRs being brought against the Government and its ministers, we thought we’d include them all in one place down here.

First, there’s the Simon Dolan case. You can see all the latest updates and contribute to that cause here. Alas, he’s now reached the end of the road, with the Supreme Court’s refusal to hear his appeal. Dolan has no regrets. “We forced SAGE to produce its minutes, got the Government to concede it had not lawfully shut schools, and lit the fire on scrutinizing data and information,” he says. “We also believe our findings and evidence, while not considered properly by the judges, will be of use in the inevitable public inquires which will follow and will help history judge the PM, Matt Hancock and their advisers in the light that they deserve.”

Then there’s the Robin Tilbrook case. You can read about that and contribute here.

Then there’s John’s Campaign which is focused specifically on care homes. Find out more about that here.

There’s the GoodLawProject’s Judicial Review of the Government’s award of lucrative PPE contracts to various private companies. You can find out more about that here and contribute to the crowdfunder here.

The Night Time Industries Association has instructed lawyers to JR any further restrictions on restaurants, pubs and bars.

And last but not least there’s the Free Speech Union‘s challenge to Ofcom over its ‘coronavirus guidance’. A High Court judge refused permission for the FSU’s judicial review in December and the FSU has decided not to appeal the decision because Ofcom has conceded most of the points it was making. Check here for details.

Quotation Corner

We know they are lying. They know they are lying, They know that we know they are lying. We know that they know that we know they are lying. And still they continue to lie.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn

It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

Mark Twain

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, one by one.

Charles Mackay

They who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Benjamin Franklin

To do evil a human being must first of all believe that what he’s doing is good, or else that it’s a well-considered act in conformity with natural law. Fortunately, it is in the nature of the human being to seek a justification for his actions…

Ideology – that is what gives the evildoing its long-sought justification and gives the evildoer the necessary steadfastness and determination.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn

No lesson seems to be so deeply inculcated by the experience of life as that you never should trust experts. If you believe the doctors, nothing is wholesome: if you believe the theologians, nothing is innocent: if you believe the soldiers, nothing is safe. They all require to have their strong wine diluted by a very large admixture of insipid common sense.

Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury

Nothing would be more fatal than for the Government of States to get into the hands of experts. Expert knowledge is limited knowledge and the unlimited ignorance of the plain man, who knows where it hurts, is a safer guide than any rigorous direction of a specialist.

Sir Winston Churchill

If it disagrees with experiment, it’s wrong. In that simple statement is the key to science.

Richard Feynman

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

C.S. Lewis

The welfare of humanity is always the alibi of tyrants.

Albert Camus

We’ve arranged a global civilization in which most crucial elements profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.

Carl Sagan

Political language – and with variations this is true of all political parties, from Conservatives to Anarchists – is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.

George Orwell

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

Marcus Aurelius

Necessity is the plea for every restriction of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

William Pitt the Younger

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

Joseph Goebbels (attributed)

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.

H.L. Mencken

I have always strenuously supported the right of every man to his own opinion, however different that opinion might be to mine. He who denies to another this right, makes a slave of himself to his present opinion, because he precludes himself the right of changing it.

Thomas Paine

I can’t understand it myself. It’s like the woman yesterday who shouted at me about a lack of a mask. On Christmas Eve of all days when people were struggling to get some cheer. The other thing is, you can stand outside in your Garden and sing Carols, that’s allowed I believe. Shame on the police as well. That would not have happened around here because the Chief Constable said Police would not be deployed on these trivial matters (including non mask wearing)

This article that you have linked to is complete crap:

  • “Let’s put the straw man of pandemic denial out of his misery” – Jacob Hale Russell and Dennis Patterson in STAT distinguish denialism from scepticism

You should pull that rubbish. There in fact was decidedly not a pandemic- full stop.

Start with the fact that average age of “Death by Covid” exceeds Normal Lifespans:

Austria 80+ years Source EMS;Canada 86 years Source HCSC;England 80+ years Source NHS;France 84 years Source SPF;Germany 82 years Source RKI;Italy 81 years Source ISS;Spain 82 years Source MDS; Switzerland 84 years Source BAG; United States 78 years Source CDC; Sweden 86 years Source FOHM;

The WHO changed it’s definition of pandemic in 2009. In the annals of pandemic since the year 350 Covid ranks 23rd out of 24 in overall deaths as a percentage of population worldwide. The swine flu pandemic of 2009 (coincidentally the same year the WHO changed that definition) ranks 24th. These two pandemics are several hundred to a thousand % points lower in mortality rates than past pandemics.

“Deaths from Covid” are from a specific demographic- pandemics are noted to impact mortality rates of a broad demographic. The only demographic impacted by “Covid” was not merely the elderly but the most fragile of the fragile of the elderly- mainly those who were living in squalid conditions in nursing homes AND received altered and improper treatment which killed them. Virtually all, if not all were poor.

THAT IS NOT A PANDEMIC- quit perpetuating this lie.

By soft selling this lie cover is provided for the crimes that were committed.

I am putting together a “Covid Fraud Destruction Document” that I shall send to my entire email list. Perhaps it will be “The Final Straw in the Destruction of Friendship and the Gateway to Banishment”

The Covid-19 Event

The response to the virus is a fraud throughout the western world. France removed Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) from over-the-counter availability in February after the Chinese had reported that its predecessor chloroquine was effective in treating Covid-19. (American medical supremo Fauci recommended it for earlier sars outbreak in 2005.) Fauci and western countries then banned the use of HCQ as a treatment of the disease. Countries that used HCQ such as Russia and countries where HCQ is used for treatment of malaria had far fewer fatalities. Many doctors fought their governments trying to get permission to use cheap, safe, effective treatments such as HCQ, but it was not until a vaccine was approved that it was reinstated as a treatment for C-19 in the USA. (I am not sure whether HCQ or Ivermectin treatments are yet allowed in this country.) HCQ is an anti-viral and works with vitamin D and zinc to treat C-19 and it is also good as a treatment for 'flu, according to Prof. Dolores Cahill.

This is just one example of what has been happening. Clearly, there is an agenda.

It’s amazing how the BBC and the UK MSM are ignoring the gathering stolen election crisis in the USA!

Trump’s posted a no nonsense video from Man in America calling out the CCP’s primary role in an all out assault on America and Trump in particular. The video’s had 3 million views. Trump has called for his supporters to protest in DC on 6 Jan when Congress is supposed to be ratifying the Electoral College vote. I haven’t heard of any organisation going into that but my hunch is there is a lot of pro Trump anger in the land. I really wouldn’t be surprised if a million turned out.

Florida in 2000 looks like a minor bureaucratic squabble by comparison with this. We are in uncharted territory here. As you have said before, much more hangs on this than most observers outside the USA would care to imagine. A Biden presidency essentially means that China will be the dominant world superpower for the foreseeable future.

Good to hear 🙂 Just back from midnight mass in Manchester where there were about 100 (mostly masked) people. No singing allowed by the congregation, but I was part of a quartet singing carols. It actually made for a rather lovely service. Shame about the public service announcements, but the priest was maskless for the sermon, and (anti) social distancing was minimal.

The keenest supporters of Comrade Stalin were the young; having known nothing but war, revolution and civil war they thought the relative stability of the 30’s meant denouncing kulaks, nefmen, priests and bourgeois conspirators to the Cheka/NKVD was the ‘right’ thing to do.

They were also the most likely to be taken in by the promise of a radiant Socialist future just around the corner and so not complain about the constant sacrifices they were making.

As with the end of lockdown, that radiant future was at the end of the rainbow.

Love the poignancy of that image, and I’ve duly nicked it to send in many of my Christmas greeting emails and IMs – cheers!

Special greetings to fellow Christians.

And is it true,
This most tremendous tale of all,
Seen in a stained-glass window’s hue,
A Baby in an ox’s stall ?
The Maker of the stars and sea
Become a Child on earth for me ?

And is it true ? For if it is,
No loving fingers tying strings
Around those tissued fripperies,
The sweet and silly Christmas things,
Bath salts and inexpensive scent
And hideous tie so kindly meant,

No love that in a family dwells,
No carolling in frosty air,
Nor all the steeple-shaking bells
Can with this single Truth compare –
That God was man in Palestine
And lives today in Bread and Wine.

Merry Christmas everyone. I’ve woken up early, so had a browse. So glad there’s a petition against face nappies in shops. I don’t wear one in supermarkets, fortunately never been questioned. And surprisingly haven’t been questioned the times I haven’t worn one on a train.Signed mask petition and the GBD petition. End this crap now!

A touching poem from a DT comment on Sherelle Jacobs’ article:

A Visit from Granny

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through tier four
Not a household was mixing, the PM had implored ;
The presents were posted; wrapped with such care,
Hopes dashed that relatives soon would be there;
The children were dreaming as they lay in their beds;
While visions of better years danced in their heads;
And mum, lockdown sceptic, and I with my views,
Had just settled down for the BBC news,
When out on the drive we heard boxes clatter ,
We sprang from our chairs to see what was the matter.
Away to the windows we flew like a flash,
We realised Granny had done a mad dash.
The lights from the homes on the road where we live,
Shone a beam on the presents Granny wanted to give.
When our small children’s wondering eyes did appear,
It wasn’t a dream, their Granny was here!
With a little commotion, we had to be quick,
We hustled in Granny our movements were slick.
More rapid than eagles we helped hide her shame,
She hugged all the children and called them by name:
“My Rosie! My Jamie! My Daisy and Carrie!
My Thomas! My Benji! My Anna and Harry!
I’ve missed you all so! I couldn’t do Zoom!
Now hug me! And hold me! And show me my room!”

I see there has been a Covid breakout at the Milton Keynes lighthouse lab, featured in last month’s Dispatches program. Who would have guessed…. No doubt Toby will find out more later.

Best wishes to all the sceptics and heartfelt thanks to Toby and the team.

Hang on to your resolve and your sanity folks.

Secondly, spoke to my sister yesterday; her rural area is now confined to Tier 4 for no good reason, she will not be having the vaccine and she and my brother-in-law are preparing to become largely self sufficient within the next couple of years.

She foresees the introduction of some kind of vaccine passport in the not too far future and believes that we, the conscientious objectors, must be prepared.

There are more sceptics just below the radar.

The problem is not the virus but the NHS itself. Because of Covid hospitals have increased the spaces between beds so hospitals have less capacity now than they prior to the virus. In addition there are high rates of staff sickness amongst NHS staff for various reasons some related to the virus. The NHS won’t pay the premium rate for agency staff so are in the position of chronic shortages of staff in some areas. All this has been confirmed to me by a senior consultant friend and family members who are doctors. So in summary we are still saving the NHS at huge economic and associated health costs. The patient can be saved but the NHS cannot.

Anyhow Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy your celebrations 🎄🎄🎄🎄

In fairness, my wife works for the local NHS trust, and has just received a bulletin from their Chief Exec tightening the rules on self-isolation. Now they are quite specific that you have to have to have been in direct contact, wearing no PPE, with a confirmed Covid case before you can swan off for 2 weeks paid holiday. Just working alongside someone with a sniffle is not considered an acceptable reason. (It hardly inspires confidence that it’s taken them about 9 months to make this clarification!)

Two days ago a lady I have known for some years told of her elderly mother going into the main hospital for an ulcer.
While there she contracted Covid but recovered and was given a release date following a negative test.
The evening before going to the daughter for Xmas she tested positive !

She is now isolating in hospital because of what the daughter is convinced must be a false positive.

The other aspect is the cumulative predation on the NHS that has taken place from the Blair days onwards under various privatisation scams, so that we end up with fewer beds and capacity to start with than most European countries.

I am writing to ask if you would consider doing a ‘Band Aid’ song in support of the toyless and hypothermic children of Wales

Something along the lines of ‘Do they know it’s Christmas time at all’ or ‘Thank God it’s them instead of you’ would be spiffing

Happy Christmas all, thanks for all the encouragement and words of wisdom over the last god knows how many months. It’s been a huge support.

We went carol singing at two care homes locally yesterday – I volunteer for a local charity supporting elderly people, particularly those with dementia, through singing. We go and sing with residents in care homes every week – or we did until March. I’ve missed it so much but it was lovely to go and sing yesterday and wave through the windows to so many of them. I just hope that we get to go back next year and sing with them properly rather than at a distance.

Love and hugs to all

Yes, it’s Christmas morning and I’m already typing here. But I’m a sad obsessive git:

Sweden continues to be chastised for its failure to knuckle down with covid theology:

https://bylinetimes.com/2020/12/18/how-sweden-abandoned-its-most-vulnerable-and-its-principles/

This has to be the most obnoxious example of phony moralising from a ‘Leftist’ perspective.

The hyperventilating sanctimonious rhetoric erupts in the very first line.

‘Sweden’s self-proclaimed role as a humanitarian superpower has died, along with the country’s nearly 8,000 COVID-19 victims.’

And we are subjected to the hypocritical mewling over the “most vulnerable” – that elderly portion whose deaths are most questionably attributed to covid.

The use of the elderly has been a vital prop of the covid narrative since the big Western push started with Italy. And it’s easy to see why. No population experiences a higher rate of deaths than the elderly sector for the very fact that they are old. And from the beginning, no attempt was made to determine whether those who had covid AND comorbidities died from the covid or a comorbidity.

But now that Sweden has ‘learned its lesson’:

‘…the Government announced that it would begin the use of rapid COVID-19 tests, recommended by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control since 28 October.’

The Ouija boards are now set to play their indispensable part.

A very slight disagreement here. Assuming that the death rate is constant, I calculate that the total for the year would be 94,359. This is from (85336/331)*366. But that total is not so far from the highest total for those years (92185 in 2018).
This is a very crude calculation and doesn’t take into account the fact that the total for 2019 was the lowest of the ten years, so in general, I agree, no different at all.
Merry Christmas.

The downside is that while competing to buy groceries for shielding neighbour the player might get attacked by the Covid or find the shelves emptied by panic buyers.

I would have added getting assaulted by a seasonally attired Covid marshal for buying non essential items like toys for the neighbours grandchildren.

Our old dog was nicknamed Bugle: a big bear-headed Akita who loved to play with gloves, socks and smalls. Our new dog, a smaller Akita, prefers toys, but flings them round the room, endangering pictures, the TV, blinds etc. He also loves things that squeak.

Despite our Christian faith and that Mrs Bugle and I share similar views on covid and lockdowns, our life would have been much poorer without the bright presence of our dog – just life-affirming. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting just published article about the problems in PCR testing using pooled samples. Today also news of the outbreak of C-19 in one of the biggest testing lab in the UK.Clare Craig asks the relevant question. Could it be risk of contaminating tests, a rather interesting question considering the “alarm” about mutant strain.

https://probabilityandlaw.blogspot.com/2020/12/pooled-covid19-testing-makes-data-on.html

Pooled COVID19 testing makes the data on ‘cases’ even more dubious

Have had to register again as appears my old user name and password no longer recognised.
Anyway, took MOH to Heathrow yesterday for a premature flight back to Qatar, thanks to Hancock’ s scaremongering with his precious new strains. Mr Hattie should have been here for 3 weeks after not seeing each other for 5 months – though Skype was a great help. Concerns were, that borders would be shut again thanks to the ramping up of mutant strains. Although yesterday that was not the case, the country has upped the quarantine rules in the past 2 days to hotel isolation ( which we were not aware, even the exceptional permit needed for entry stated home quarantine as he is over 55) – so inspite of a pre flight negative PCR test, he is now confined in a hotel room for 7 days, if no false positive occurs, with a very limited food menu. Luckily, there are a few Christmas treats in his suitcase. So, thanks Hancock for your continued fakery and hysteria aroumd the virus threat, though I would imagine there are plenty of truck drivers that would like to personally offer their thanks ….and South Africans.
I would note, on the drive back from London, plenty of illuminated signs stating ‘stay home, tier 4’ to which a raspberry was blown to each one I passed, the M25 was pretty busy, likewise the M11, A14, A11. Not too much notice being taken then of the stay at home message – good.
So we will have a Skype lunch today, and at least the hotel is providing beer and wine, so not a complete disaster.
Will now head off to our secret church with a candle. A beautiful old church at the end of a public footpath hidden in a load of trees. We stumbled on it last Good Friday whilst on a bike ride. It has been left open throughout and although not in formal use, is still intact inside and has been our little refuge. Well, it is more inspiring to sit there quietly than attending mass in the local church surrounded by masked goons.

“ A very comprehensive study in Iceland with 40,000 participants found that children under 15 were about half as likely as adults to be infected, and only half as likely as adults to transmit the virus to others.”

But what does the term ‘infected’ mean here? Looking at the numbers, I would guess its out old enemy PCR+ results.

Yes. That study I’ve cited to many parents looking to close schools.

Some of them are still saying Kawasaki Syndrome as a reason for their desire to ruin my kids development. It’s the one topic where I get close to feeling violent

On the 18h of December Tennessee nurse Tiffany Dover received a covid vaccine and 17 minutes later passed out on live TV.

The guy in the following video found a death record for a ‘Tiffany Dover’ on http://www.searchquarry.com, with details that matched those of the nurse. That was several days ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfph6_IXUPs

If you go now to http://www.searchquarry.com then all searches for ‘Tiffany Dover’ are timed out, although all searches for other names are executed.

Searches for ‘Tiffany Dover’ appear to have been blocked.

Try it for yourself.

Confirmed.
I also tried searching for Ben Dover (just picked a random name there) in Tennessee – returned 11 results.

(I wonder what life is like for anyone called Ben Dover in Tennessee?)

Exactly – that should be possible, if she is alive.

The death record plus subsequent blocking means one of two things for me:

Either:

  1. The nurse has died and that fact is being concealed, or,
  2. She is alive but the authorities wish to create the impression that she has died but that her death is being concealed.

Testing in France. Another example of the unreliability of PCR testing and how dependent on the amount of test done. Strong argument for replacing completely the PCR tests outside hospital setting with LFT and an intelligent test setup for hospitalized patients.

Or not test at all except for people with symptoms as has been the case before. The trouble with PCR is that it is a search test rather than a characterised threshold test. They are trying to justify different Ct levels because they want to show that RNA/DNA is present without thinking through how that correlates with illness or even correlates with other tests at different cycles.

The percentage of London ZOE Covid app users reporting feeling unwell has plummeted in the last two days. A blip or sign of things to come?

I’m glad the ZOE Covid app is being used as source of evidence. It has been a fairly reliable leading indicator of Covid symptom prevalence since May.

Just remember, though, that the app effectively debunks the Yeadon theory of a ‘False Positive’ epidemic. On the other hand, it does support the app does suggest that daily infections were falling before Lockdown 2 was introduced and that the lockdown had no effect.

You can’t pick and choose I’m afraid.

No it doesn’t. Self-reporting as conclusive diagnosis in the middle of focused psychological warfare regarding sniffles and snuffles? Don’t be daft.

The only reliable data regarding a viral outbreak remains all-cause mortality – and we know the pattern of that.

We have already a GP syndromic surveillance system in place and importantly can compare to previous years. Zoe app is a hyped up reporting system relying on Apps which automatically would bias the reporting as elderly (which we are most interested in) use Apps less and not comparing with earlier years. And 80-90 percent of PCR testing for symptoms are PCR negative and must be some other virus.

Merry Christmas, Mayo. I really appreciate all your input here and your commitment to a truly sceptical approach.

Does the data from the app really debunk the false positives theory, I wonder, or just it just confirm that folks continue to feel bit under the weather for a multitude of reasons as they always have and always will?

Merry Christmas to all fellow Sceptics. Eat, drink, laugh and enjoy!

Found this thread from Zuby yesterday and it made me laugh:

https://twitter.com/ZubyMusic/status/1342169173192015872

Inspired by his post, here are my predictions of further tiers (some nicked from Zuby himself and other commenters):

Tier 5 – All human interaction will be banned to slow the spread of the virus

Tier 6 – All Zoom, Teams calls will be banned as it’s found that the virus can spread even via face to face calls

Tier 7 – All Facebook messaging, Whatsapp, Viber will be banned as new evidence shows that the virus can spread even via messaging functions

Tier 8 – Mandatory clapping for the NHS every Thursday at 6pm. First one to stop clapping will be shot

Tier 9 – Those who tested positive have to commit hara-kiri to stop the spread of the virus

Tier 10 – The bodies of those who committed hara kiri will be incinerated to stop the spread of the virus

Tier 11 – Cities will be evacuated and nuked to stop the spread of the virus

Tier 12 – Unauthorised breathing will be penalised

Tier 13 – Parts of the City of London and Canary Wharf will be demolished to make sure that everyone is following social distancing

Tier 14 – All libraries and archives will be banned as books and manuscripts have been shown to spread the virus

Tier 15 – Ritual purification every day mandatory

Tier 16 – Ritual purification every hour mandatory

Looking forward to any creative suggestions

This is surprising. In Florida it’s rolled out to the elderly exclusively. The only logical would be to roll it out to all LongTerm Care Homes which must be a few millions in the US and then over 70. Prioritize the young HCW seems strange considering the initial problems in younger persons with more anaphylaxis than expected. But this massive roll out in all age groups is beneficial for Big Pharma as a more age restricted start might have scared more people.

I have not checked the links below but it seems not that generous pay out if something is going wrong in the US as the companies are not liable for anything.

“COVID Vaccine Injury, You are on your own
Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) is administered within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). It is much less generous than the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP or NVICP)
You have to file a claim with the (CICP) Within one year of vaccination, run by DHHS which is also sponsoring the COVID-19 vaccination program. DHHS therefore essentially acts as the judge, jury and defendant.
First, everyone involved with getting the vaccine to you has had their liability waived under the PREP Act …
Keep in mind that if your employer mandates the vaccine, they will not be liable for side effects.
According to the experts CNBC spoke to, “claims would be routed through worker’s compensation programs and treated as an on-the-job injury.”
If you are injured by a pandemic vaccine, you cannot sue any of the parties involved in getting the vaccine to you.
CICP does not pay any of the costs associated with any claim, This means you’ll also be responsible for attorney fees and expert witness fees.
According to the CICP director, the maximum payout you can receive — even in cases of permanent disabilityor death — is $250,000 per person; however, you’d have to exhaust your private insurance policy before the CICP gives you a dime.
CICP will only pay the difference between what your insurance covers and the total payout amount establishedfor your case not to exceed $250,000.

The CICP also has a one year statute of limitations, so you have to be quick. This has been very tough on claimants, because most people are unaware the program exists, another big problem with claims for injuries from Covid vaccines: nobody knows exactly what the serious injuries are, nor how to identify them with certainty.

If you become injured after receiving a designated ‘countermeasure’ vaccine, do not anticipate that you will get help from the government nor from the manufacturers.
Please inform yourself of the benefits and risks beforehand.

Why one earth would anyone do that?

This is giving way to control freaks and paranoia.

And for those who are always worried that the security services are watching them only serves to make it easier to identify people.

You know that for sure do you? You’ve looked at all the previous threads you posted on here have you?

Well I was, it was a PITA, and it turned out it was ridiculously easy to do and apparently a flaw in the comments code when just using a moniker linked to an email address, but not logged in, which could be changed to one (or more) that others were using.

No more information is collected in logs as far as I’m aware but just makes it more secure for users! Who would want more security for themselves? Duh!

Dr Birx’s fall. One of the leading in CDC response to the pandemic

“Dr. Deborah Birx said she took her Thanksgiving jaunt to Delaware because her parents were so down in the dumps, they “stopped eating and drinking” — a justification ripped by people who said it was her coronavirus restrictions that prevented them from seeing their own dying loved ones.”

https://nypost.com/2020/12/23/dr-birx-trip-came-after-parents-stopped-eating-and-drinking/?utm_medium=SocialFlow&utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitterhttps://twitter.com/JordanSchachtel/status/1342168385115860995 Apart from the hyperbole “Shakespearean” a rather good take on this story
“A tragedy of Shakespearean proportions: in the end, Birx was forced to break the rules she inflicted on the entirety of American society in order to save her parents’ lives. Still, she refuses to acknowledge her failures, which have torn apart millions of American families.Birx unintentionally exposed the true, horrific costs of the lockdowns she has relentlessly advocated forDeborah Birx *wrote the rules* that directly led to her parents falling into such a deep depression that they stopped eating.” She also pleaded the American people not to travel on Thanksgiving day

That article is grim reading. So many questions. One individual had a parent die with Covid marked in March, but still hasn’t buried them.

And if this is all a project fear type exercise why would she allow her family to suffer to such an extent:

““My daughter hasn’t left that house in 10 months, my parents have been isolated for 10 months. They’ve become deeply depressed,” Birx said of the need to “recover from the trauma of the last 10 months.””

So Birx can’t be in on it if there is an Agenda. Seems to point to convergent opportunism rather than full scale NWO plans.

Are You Sacrificing That Which Matters Most?
“Of course, I’m not telling anyone what to do. I would encourage you, though, to ponder what matters.

Most people will agree that the most valuable moments in life are those spent with family and friends, especially elderly relatives whose days are already numbered. Those very moments that make life worth living are now being stolen — if we let them.

The question is, what value do we place on family, versus the risk of illness? As mentioned, Gates predicts social restrictions will need to stay in place for the next two years. Are you willing to give up three years of life for an illness that poses no greater threat to life than a bad flu season?

How about five years? Ten? In all likelihood, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is here to stay, just like the pandemic swine flu, which is now one of the many viruses we encounter in any given flu season. In 2009, the swine flu pandemic was touted as a grave threat, yet no panic has ensued in the years since, even though it’s still in circulation. Why is that? Why should SARS-CoV-2 be any different?

As noted by A.J. Kay in a recent Medium article, “If safety requires us to indefinitely forfeit the most valuable parts of our lives, what exactly are we trying to save?”

According to a report by the AARP and United Health Foundation, social distancing measures have led to an epidemic of loneliness, and this too has significant risks that should be included in the risk-benefit calculation as it increases mortality from every cause.

Public health researcher Kassandra Alcaraz recently told the American Psychological Association:

“Our research really shows that the magnitude of risk presented by social isolation is very similar in magnitude to that of obesity, smoking, lack of access to care and physical inactivity.”

You know, if it was up to me, there would be no comment facility on this site at all.

It only upsets me a lot of the time. I woke up this morning having slept well. I was in a good mood and my mood is now miserable.

I come on here and all I get is abuse from a smug, anonymous troll.

I’m not afraid of the security services. I am, however, afraid of the anonymous posters who come here.

I’m fearful that I might upset one of them and the polis will be knocking on my door for having offended one of them in an unguarded moment.

I did once ask that Toby make it more difficult to comment, but, as I say, I would prefer it if the facility did not exist at all.

It’s not good for my mental health coming here.

It’s catch22. I have to come here for good information on the so-called “pandemic”. and I’m urged to comment by that friendly green popup that would just love to know my thoughts.

Well, as I say, I intend to try to repair my – thanks to this site and that troll – damaged Christmas. Thankfully, perhaps I don’t drink. I do still get stressed though.

I think, as I’ve said before, it’s the British psyche. I just don’t like my countrymen and women on the whole. I prefer Americans and Russians. (No, that’s not a joke).

That’s a very good question Annie.

I have tried to explain though. I have to come to this site for reliable information on the situation, and I’m often in a neutral mood.

Then that green popup appears and I feel urged to comment. Then I end up getting upset a lot of the time.

Sometimes I like to write though, but what good it does is very much open to question.

People have their own views and I seem unable to get a lot of them to undestand mine.

Sometimes I think it helps to let off steam. Just now I’m not so sure.

I really do not like a lot of the people who post here.

You are one of the exceptions to that for me.

You seem one of the most balanced people here.

I generally try not to make personal comments. If I say something angrily then I try not to direct it to a particular individual.

I have before said “don’t take me personally” but people do not listen!

I am actually a very quiet person. I live alone. Even at school I was regarded as “quiet”. I was an extremely shy teenager. I never really got over it. But I am strongly opinionated.

To tell the truth, you thrive on argument.
It’s the healthiest state of mind for a human. Ask Socrates.
Not the safest, only the healthiest. It wasn’t very safe for Socrates. People said nasty things about him, e.g. that he was a corrupter of youth, meaning that he taught young men how to think. A dangerous game.
Don’t drink hemlock if it’s offered by Pfizer.

Are you the same John P who called anyone who believes in a conspiracy a moron and idiot?
I would prefer if we engage in reasonable debate;that way we can all learn something from each other and also see flaws in our own arguments.
We are not friends on here but are all united in opposition to the policies of the government, whatever we believe is the reasoning behind them.
Merry Christmas

Well we are actually. I assume you live in Britain, don’t you? You are living in one of the most tolerant and friendly countries in the world. A country where harsh words and strong disagreement is not taken as fighting talk in general. Where people of different races get on quite well and don’t separate themselves into ghettos, by and large. Where publicly expressed hatred and disdain for different views is universal in the media (Brexit versus remain, etc.) but doesn’t translate into hostility on the street. Sure, there are exceptions. But British people are quite nice.

I find generalisations about people and places misleading and potentially dangerous. Before 2020 I wouldn’t have guessed there were so many curtain-twitching informer types in the British Isles as there have turned out to be. The types who ring the cops because the people at No.34 had friends over and perhaps social distancing wasn’t observed. Gasp! Horror!
I think many Brits will put up with more sh£t from their government than many peoples would and Boris Johnson is enjoying himself by testing the limits. Will he and they go too far? We will see…

“I’m not afraid of the security services. I am, however, afraid of the anonymous posters who come here.”

In which case, John, you are letting your perceptions get entirely out of proportion. You can, after all, just ignore the comments section : you don’t have to go anywhere near it in order to pick up most of the information, although you might miss out on some of the data posts.

If your Christmas is ‘damaged’ by anything here, then it is a result of your choice to let it be so. I hope you can repair it quickly by getting things in proportion again.

I’m wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas this year, as any “happiness” or “merriment” has been banned by the dictatorship.

Suicide and domestic violence rates are going to skyrocket over this yuletide, which will please our oppressors – conveniently of course, these facts won’t be apparent in statistics until Autumn next year.

Just had another blazing row with my mother on the phone during my “Xmas wishes” call, the stupid, brainwashed old hag. Could hear “Pater” tut-tutting in the background too. They say you become what you hate – and he’s become a bedwetting poofter.

I don’t hate my parents. To hate them might mean BECOMING them. I just pity them to the point of despair. I shall expend no more energy on trying to wake them up during 2021 or beyond.

Twenty years ago – to their credit – neither of them would have stood still for this bullshit.
Mum was no-nonsense and didn’t suffer fools, Dad was a strong, active man who had no time for snowflakes. Yet here they are in 2020, transformed beyond all recognition, eking out their “living deaths”.

How the mighty have fallen, eh?

Well, I say fuck them. My weekly phone calls to them are going to become fortnightly(ish) from 2021 onwards. You can’t reason with idiots.

Just before I sign off, I’d just like to say that the log-in stipulation is probably for the best. It was only a matter of time before the 77th turned their guns on us, we ‘d done well to avoid their “undivided attention” for as long as we did. The clues were there, Toby obviously noticed them. This will make it a lot harder for them to disrupt the forum, thankfully.

All the best everyone. Off now to try and make the best of things …. Enjoy!

I fixed this ditty to the gate of our Covidian Temple this morning. Don’t suppose many zombies saw it before it was ripped down, but it made me feel better:

SONG FOR MEMBERS OF

THE COWARD COVIDIAN CULT OF LIVING DEATH

TO BE MUMBLED THROUGH FACE KNICKERS.

HUMMING AND SINGING ARE PUNISHABLE BY DEATH.

See the zombie cowards come,
Knickered faces, voices dumb,
See them cringe and keep apart,
Blank, dead eyes and stony heart.
See how they kow-tow to evil,
Worshipping the Covid devil,
Gibbering in selfish fear,
Will not let a human near:
See the zombie cowards come,
Knickered faces, voices dumb.

Wear face knickers, it’s the law:
Where have we heard that before?
Grovel to the tyrant’s word,
Let no truth be ever heard.
Gas the Jews, it is the law,
Chop the head off Thomas More!
On real faces vent your spite,
Shrink from honesty and light.
See the zombie cowards come,
Knickered faces, voices dumb.

Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ, the everlasting lord,
Long ago you all denied.
All the faith within you died.
Shrivelled is your coward soul,
Lost to keep your body whole.
Can it ever have been true,
Jesus gave his life for you?
See the zombie cowards come,
Knickered faces, voices dumb.

In the following video Denis Rancourt discusses his paper where he shows that the spikes in death rates in several jurisdictions in March and April can be much more logically attributed to government intervention than to any especially virulent virus – ie typical failures of central planning.

Just back up here after a lovely Christmas lunch, pity I couldn’t invite a friend to join me but that is life. Trying to forget about the virus for a few hours.

Zoom Christmas church service this morning, just about to join our family one then hope to get a walk in the woods before it gets dark.

I am not sure if the enforced login is just over the festivities while there are presumably fewer moderators around. I’ve just had a pleasant conversation with a nice lady from the Samaritans. I haven’t spoken to them for over a year. It was because of the exchanges on here today that I phoned.

Earlier, I was so upset with one poster that my hands were shaking uncontrollably with emotion as I was writing, responding to a mean remark directed at me by “Major Panic”.

I can’t handle it.

And I don’t know who was responsible for the new login policy, but as I said, I don’t like it.

My comments were addressed to whoever was responsible for it, but I don’t bear grudges.

This is not good for Christmas Day.

You may think you know me, but you really don’t.

I’m going to try to make this my last posting here. I just do not feel comfortable and many of the people here I do not like, though, I repeat, I do not bear grudges.

So I will again wish a good Christmas to those who are receptive to my comments. I have tried not to be boring or predictable. And I’ve tried to be honest.

I seem so have positive feelings towards Annie and Julian in particular and Philip of the tired fingers. There are many other good people here as well as the nasty ones.

PS: I’m not going to come back to read any responses to this comment, for fear that some will write snide remarks.

All the best.

I’ve just started watching Scrooged. Classic. Bill Murray. It occured to me that a lot of family Christmas films have the premise of something bad/evil attempting to mess up Christmas. Ultimately the plot to ruin Christmas fails because a hero with the help of others fight back and saves the day. Die Hard. Scrooged. Home Alone. Gremlins. Grinch..

Yet our leaders and the greedy bastards that puppet them i.e. Gates have ruined Christmas in reality more than any of the villains or monsters in these fictional stories.

It’s based on what we call archetypes and they are throughout all story telling in human history. EVERY Disney movie for example involves a fallen one, enduring some childhood trauma (very often a parent dying or being taken away, see Bambi, Frozen, Dumbo). They carry this weight, spend time in the wildnernes (like Jesus) and gain righteous avengence through struggle

I just read an interview with Richard Tice, the Chairman of the Farage led Brexit party (that wants to be the Reform Party, but the electoral commission has just ignored them so far re the name change). This is what he says about Covid:

On Covid, he praises the Government for having ‘taken a punt’ on purchasing large quantities of vaccines before they came to fruition and for the Nightingale Hospitals project, which he said benefited from the Army and private sector project managers who had been resisted by senior managers in the NHS.

But he is ultra-scornful of the handling of the test and trace system, branding it ‘a catastrophically, monstrously wasteful scandal’

And that is all. Nothing whatsoever about the fact that the whole thing is a giant stinking lie, so if you are pinning your hopes on Farage and co to dig you out of the Covid hole, you might as well forget it.

I’m not wishing anyone a Merry Christmas as there is nothing to be merry about.

I hope some politician manages to break ranks and take a contrarian, sceptic stand because there will be little traction gained otherwise.
We have no organised resistance or should I say “Resistance”, with a capital R to form around.
Without that meaningful acheiving scepticism will be delayed.
I had hoped Farage would emerge again after Brexit deal was done and challenge the current orthodoxy but maybe we will wait longer.
Any LS members in the consituencies of Sir Graham Brady or Sir Charles Walker, maybe nows the time to email them with Parliament recalled for 30 December?

Certainly a new party is what we need soon. If Farage isn’t it then maybe Laurence Fox’s ‘Reclaim’ party might be, although I caution that I have not read his views on the Corona fantasy, so I can’t be sure here. His party is more of a free speech anti woke/cancel culture platform.

In all honesty I doubt that, in the present climate, any political party can stand up and give out an anti lockdown message. First the message itself would be branded as false information and expunged, and second the damage such a message would do to anyone’s political reputation would be incalculable. The number of people that are not following the government lies right now is so small that it wouldn’t amount to a single MP in any election. I have no doubt that will change eventually but not until Boris and the gang declare the war over and people begin to think about what has happened and why. This is one of several reasons why it is not in Boris’ interests to do that for a long time to come.

Have really pushed the boat out for Christmas this year; not usually one to buy into it all, but in an act of defiance to the pathetic diktats – off the back of a year of fearmongering, oppression and information warfare.

Been a lovely day. Carol service on the TV this morning was lovely, loads of great gifts exchanged, screwdrivers and beers aplenty being consumed, an enjoyable walk in which we saw many families on the way, everyone greeting eachother with cordial Christmas greetings, not one mask in sight.

And Christmas dinner smells filling my home now.

The sun is shining here, blue skies and crisp air. You can’t lock nature down. Will be continuing this spirit into the new year, come what may and no matter what is thrown at humanity. Humanity always prevails in the end, and we’re all stronger in spite of it.

Best of wishes to everyone!

https://www.aier.org/article/oxfords-stringency-index-is-falling-apart/
A very good detailed article demolishing our belief in the Oxford’s team Our World in Data stringency index. Many have used this index and comparing outcomes. “Most metrics in the Blavatnik School ranking don’t measure what thoughtful observers look for: they are clearly not nuanced enough or spaced enough to capture the differences between countries or reflect what any normal person would mean by “lockdowns” or government mandates. Their researchers seem to interpret statements and press releases a little arbitrarily (sometimes from English-speaking sources only, and two or three steps removed), and they use the strictest policy in any region as a stand-in for the entire country.” “The benefit of trusting a third-party assessor for ranking policy responses ‒ like we do for the human development index, democracy index or economic freedom index ‒ is that the researcher using the numbers took no part in creating it. One hopes that those creating it did so with no obvious ulterior motive for how it would be used. The drawback is that you’re trusting the interpretative judgment to a third-party observer. That’s fine if that judgment is balanced and accurate, disastrous if it’s not.” “In the spring, when the ranking roughly seemed to reflect what was happening in various countries, nobody objected to it ‒ or even looked under its hood. Now, after its strange rewriting of history and poor use of the Nordic countries show very misleading stories, nobody should trust it without looking at the details.”

Bylinetmes really is the most noxious spreader of covid propaganda with a Leftist veneer. I had intended to do an in-depth study of the following article but found the first half so vile that, for the sake of my own sanity, I had to stop.

https://bylinetimes.com/2020/12/24/byline-times-christmas-cheer-reasons-to-stay-hopeful/

Merely consider these two items on their list:

‘Five: Communities Took Back Control’

This looks like a sadistic joke:

‘Hyperlocal, local, regional and municipal initiatives and enterprises have proven themselves to be much more effective than the lumbering outsourced private companies over track and trace’

i.e. we are determining ‘control’ in terms of what is most effective for mass surveillance. And note that constantly exploited zoning in on Leftist rhetoric with ‘lumbering outsourced private companies’. But if we are talking about non-invasive tactics, communities were in fact locked down, masked and told to stay away from each other.

‘Six: Lives Mattered More’

‘Just as the Coronavirus crisis put our humanity on the line, the heroes of the moment became health workers, care workers, cleaners, transport staff, delivery drivers and many more.’

Ah yes, the virus suddenly caused a turnaround to all that soulless privatisation and caused an explosion of pure human empathy where we were all inspired to rush into each other’s arms – only to stop as we were reminded to socially distance!

‘… this was the first pandemic in which lives were put above the economy and most of the population were willing to suffer some material disadvantage in order to protect the health of the less advantaged and vulnerable.’

No, ‘most of the population’ suffered ‘some material disadvantage’ and stayed indoors and away from each other because they were told to do so.

This endlessly repeated mantra of ‘people before profits’ is the central prop of the deception. In reality: everyone was relentlessly intimidated and indeed terrorised by constant hysteria mongering, ordered to wear masks, ordered to stay apart, deprived not only of their jobs but of all regular activity and- perhaps worst of all – derived of medical services for actual real conditions.

And a preview of coming attractions:

‘This could see a shift of behaviour when we come to face that other deadly and more permanent threat to our future – climate change. With Johnson joining Joe Biden in apparently supporting green investment, the first green shoots of a remaking of policy and politics are there.’

Every time these media hacks trot out the ‘we’ it becomes more pathetically obvious that they mean ‘they’ assuming the mantle of a phony populism.

I suppose you can say a lot of those things are true in a microcosm of what we’ve seen this year. But when you add in the monumental costs, which they don’t even attempt to contemplate in any meaningful way (as if they were inevitable in these “unprecedented” times), whether lockdowns work to their intended purpose and the overall context of SARS-CoV-2 in relation to flu epidemics.

The idea that PCR is driving a pseudo epidemic would be so far from their thoughts that it would be earth shattering stuff for them to even engage in it.

‘But when you add in the monumental costs’

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/12/post-war-economic-recovery-covid19/

‘The pandemic’s impact on major economies has been four times worse than that of the 2008 global financial crisis.’

This suggests a financial coup four times the size of the 2008 banker’s crisis but done much more covertly as a ‘health emergency’.

How’s this for impartial reporting from the BBC:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-55435942

Quote: While the haggling continues on Capitol Hill, the president is spending Christmas at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida. A White House memo said he was working “tirelessly” with “many meetings and calls”, though he was spotted at his golf course on Thursday morning.

well, the Queens speech is 100% covid. lots of masks, lot of blank stares through windows and a f*cking choir of NHS employees all in uniform so we know they are NHS heroes standing in a cuhurch singing “joy to the world” Amazing how quickly the NHS can make you ill I feel like vomitting
a long time ago before the NHS became a religion, wasnt there a rule that medical uniforms should not be worn outside of hospitals so as to minimise the risk of bringing an infection into the wards.

This elevation of the NHS to the status of a church has been part of the cynical propaganda strategy of the government, aided and abetted by politicized senior management.

I was underwhlemed sadly and had to resort to listening to the rest of it rather than watching as the masks, social distancing and the NHS was rendering it unwatchable.

Her Majesty mentions Christ but part of what I’ve seen makes no mistake that the NHS has become our new State Religion.

Her father’s 1939 Christmas broadcast struck a better note and was much more hopeful especially when he quoted from that poem in the end:

‘I said to the man who stood at the Gate of the Year,
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
And he replied, “Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.”‘

There is only one way to control my anger when surveying tawdry manipulative sites like Bylinetimes and that is to acknowledge that the covid talk is only a cover and that these hack writers either know it themselves or are being directed by those who know it. This is clearly a huge restructuring project which would be totally unacceptable to the vast majority if it was done openly and honestly. This is why it has to be effected under the cover of this staged pandemic whose rhetoric must be maintained all the way no matter how obviously deceptive it is to how many people. The covid talk it a kind of lingua franca that has to be dogmatically enforced by an unspoken acquiescence where vast numbers don’t believe a word of it but know they must keep all their statements within its realm.

Even if they didn’t know it, previous experience would have indicated that it would be a massive overestimate as data came in.

The serious issue is that anyone working at that level would have to be either blindingly incompetent or venal not to understand the simple probablilities.

Either explanation is a disqualification for office.

Hi Swedenborg,

did you quote Kevin McKernan in a comment a few days ago, as saying that Drosten would have needed two months to develop his PCR?

This would be big as the Drosten-PCR came out in January.

Or am I mixing something up?

Thanks.

Also remember seeing such a phrase but can’t find it in his comments now.  I don’t think he meant it seriously, just that Drosten did a very quick work which if it was solid, would have taken longer time. Drosten was involved in the swine flu PCR testing.
But I don’t think we should take it he had worked on it for two months and had it ready in the end of January, more that he made too many shortcuts (no live virus) which resulted in a bad test.

I’ve not seen anyone else mention this (especially not the wee dictator who had plenty to say about Brexit deal last night) but weekly figures for Scotland announced yesterday suggests there were 52k people with covid last week and it’s now fallen to 37k this week, quite a significant drop. If figures had moved in other direction I’m sure we would have had a comment from her almost immediately.

I used to think of Scottish people as tough, canny, clever and cynical…why the hell don’t they fall out of love with Sturgeon? She’s appalling from all angles and on all levels. To me she is the antipathy of everything Scottish, except perhaps in her attention to detail.

I’m not looking at this from the point of view of the Union. I think an independent Scotland could be very successful and if I was Scottish I might well be a nationalist but I couldn’t stomachthe daily whinge fest from Sturgeon,

I suppose the Scots though have always loved virtue signalling since the days of Knox…is that her appeal?

AS I sit part zoning-out to a re-screening of ‘The Italian Job’ (such are simple pleasures), I am struck by this paragraph from the Telegraph comment piece on the growing incidence of mental illness (see above) :

“Perhaps one of the silver linings of 2020 is the revelation that it is not the people who are going mad, but the world itself. Society is sick, suspended between the eras of the life-loving baby boomers and a perverse new desire to abolish death. Next year, the challenge will be to muster the strength to try and restore some sanity to the planet, at the same time as heal ourselves.”

“a perverse new desire to abolish death”

I would award this phrase as the best of the year in summing up what has happened

It is utterly perverse, because of the futility and the huge cost. Unnatural, inhuman, against nature, sinful

Our opponents often attempt to seize the moral high ground, but where they are is anything but

Post the populist successes of 2016 there was a deliberate, unpleasant and unrelenting campaign in the globalist-controlled MSM to undermine people’s mental well being and their confidence in their own perceptions and judgments. The basic message was that everyone has mental health issues, that we should all feel anxiety, and that it was abnormal not to, that we cannot trust our own judgment and that we should rely on experts to tell us what we are experiencing. Everyday experiences and challenges – the trials of life – were turned into mental health crises.

It’s hardly surprising that after that two year plus campaign most people had few defences against government-induced hysteria.

Thanks for this, which I will take as a vindication of my own assessment. The campaign to make every anxiety, depression or disappointment a mental health issue is insidious and dangerous. Participants have included Lloyds Bank UK and Bell Telecom Canada. Doesn’t anyone ask why large corporations suddenly want us to ‘talk’ about our states of mind? The BBC has even pushed the issue through Monty Don, but at least his prescription is ‘gardening’.

Mental Health Weeks have become commonplace round the world and pop up in English schools, presented by such bodies as the Anna Freud Foundation and funded by such charities as the Wellcome Trust. I do not – by the way – deny that mental illness can be serious issue, causing destructive reactions even to the point of suicide, especially as a result of the government’s lockdown policies.

Having said this, the involvement of big business and big pharma should raise eyebrows. Drug companies are interested in selling drugs and have shown themselves willing to do so by identifying new conditions, even in children. I don’t feel I’ve done a great job with this post and so would invite others to correct or support my thoughts.

You’ve done a great job, not least by reminding us we should be suspicious of Big Pharma’s involvement in the campaign to induce anxiety…I would say it’s only the same as being suspicious if your local drug dealer turns up at the gates of your child’s school with a smile on their face.

Though not a Scientologist myself, I’ve noted before that while Scientology (which opposes psychiatric medicine) gets a bad press and has many adherents who have serious mental health issues, I can’t recall a single incident where one of their number has gone on a murderous rampage with guns. But in nearly every mass shooting, the killer has been found to be on psychiatric drugs or a heavy cannabis user. Peter Hitchens has been good at exposing the facts but still the MSM pushes Big Pharma drug solutions and suggests cannabis is a harmless recreational drug.

Merry Christmas from England, where we didn’t expect to be. We have just escaped from Switzerland after an abortive skiing holiday. We got to the resort okay without wearing masks, despite some heavy pressure from EasyJet and a little flak on the train. After a few days we were told that anybody from Britain was subjected to retrospective quarantine, which would have meant house arrest in our rented apartment over Christmas; and that all restaurants were to close on 27th Dec. We booked flights home, which was difficult; we had to go via Paris. And we were lucky to get anything at all. There were no direct flights, and some options would have taken up to 24 hours. The trip home was stressful. I’m not used to breaking the law. During the train journey to Geneva Airport I received 6 text messages telling me I must report myself to the cantonal authorities and stay indoors for 10 days on penalty of a fine of 10000 CHF, which is over £8000. I got increasingly paranoid thinking we’d be arrested at the airport at the last moment. But we made it. Now for 10 days quarantine in England. If I choose to comply.

It’s sometimes OK to break the law if this stops a worse crime from being committed.

Don’t forget, a government minister stood up in parliament and said that they might break international law. Also it’s corrupt to give £10s of billions to ministers’ mates without a proper tendering process.

What an ordeal! I’m sorry you had to go through that — unimaginable before 2020. Do not comply with the ridiculous quarantine! When my daughter went back to university in August she was forced to quarantine for 2 weeks but was also forced to get 3 Covid tests during the 2 week period. I told her that since the government thought it was perfectly OK to break quarantine to get 3 Covid tests, she should feel free to break quarantine to go for a walk and get a coffee. It was a proud moment when she told me she broke quarantine the very first day. Merry Christmas — even though you should have been skiing. While we have hills rather than mountains, the government has shut down skiing for the next month.

Ah well. It was worth a try.

A decidedly less family-friendly novelty track also stormed this week’s charts: Boris Johnson is a Fucking Cunt by Essex band the Kunts, which reached No 5. The 56-second punk track – or 82 seconds in its extended album version – features the title repeated over and over [again] in rising key changes. Charlie Brooker and Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock were among those supporting the song on social media.

The band’s mononymous [sic] frontman Kunt previously attempted to reach Christmas No 1 in 2010 under the name Kunt and the Gang. He performed an even more luridly titled song aimed at the then Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, who had formed a coalition government with the Conservatives that year. It reached No 66.

The green burn-off does sound like metal content in a meteor. Rather unusual daytime occurrence, though. Meteors do not usually have enough light to show up in daytime although they can occur at any time of day or night.
In late 1988 I went for a walk on a freezing night in Scotland and saw several meteors. I was on the edge of a city (Dundee) so less ambient light. Beautiful sight. I am not superstitious but I thought it might be a good omen and indeed a job application I had made proved successful.

Judging by my neighbours there is mass disobedience regarding the dictators latest edict.
Hopefully this is the moment that they have overreached themselves.
If not Stalingrad at least Barbarossa.
Merry Christmas to one and all.

Merry Xmas all! I’m having Xmas giggle at Hat Wancock and Zweli Mkhize, his SA counterpart.

After trying to scare their populations re their respective terrifying mutant strains, all they accomplished was to earn their countries international travel bans. Here’s Mkhize backtracking on his earlier claims of a much more transmissible, dangerous and youth gobbling mutant:
https://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/covid-19-theres-no-evidence-that-sa-variant-is-more-dangerous-than-the-uk-variant-zweli-mkhize-20201225

I am currently watching a video of the German solicitors association “Klagepaten” about consent to be vaccinated in care homes in Germany. They want to start tomorrow or Sunday.
The interviewed solicitor has power of attorney for several elderly clients. He informed about the forms he has been sent by the care home management and local authority. Of course with a VERY short period to fill in these forms and return, so no proper consultation possible. Although hopefully they will not vaccinate if no consent has been given.
I am wondering if anyone is on here who have power of attorney re medical treatment for anyone in a care home. Have you been consulted?
What is your experience?

We now have to login to comment – this because one or two members reported others posting in their name. Maybe that did happen but the login requirement is an effective disruption tool, so if someone did want to cause disruption, making the claim of impostor posting is enough to cause disruption (the complainant specifically requested this remedy). I can’t be the only to have forgotten my password!

We’ll maybe see what effect it has had after 1 Jan when normal traffic resumes but numbers of comments are way down on what they would normally be.

But I can’t re-register my previous name and email because I get a message saying that that email has already been used, and it won’t let me login in under the previous password … I hare messing around like this, such a waste of time.

Merry Christmas everyone, I know I don’t post a lot even though I have been reading this site and comments near enough from day one.

Most of the time I don’t post as I generally agree with everyone and by the time I think of a good response is someone has already posted what I would have said. It probably speaks to my insecurities of using social networking, some years ago I came off Facebook as it was making me feel anxious and a bit depressed, coming off of that platform was a breath of fresh air. I don’t mean to compare this platform with us on here.

Despite few posts, I battle in my own way with mixed success of promoting this website to family, friends and the odd random person eg taxi drivers, bar staff etc. The one thing that always strikes me most is when people feel they know something is suspect but no real idea of where to go for answers. Giving people the URL of this site has hopefully contributed to questioning things further.

Particular shout out to awkward git, Bart Simpson, Rosie and KH the cafe owner. Merry Xmas one and all!

Evening all. I’m back from a visit to my parents. Normalish, apart from all the distancing and being seated at the opposite end of the table (not a huge table, in fairness) for dinner. Great to see them but still resent that they’ve been made to see me as a threat. They are both a little sceptical, mum more so, but still their sense of personal threat has been magnified, just as the bastards intended.

As Christmas Day draws to a close I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Toby and all ABL contributors but equally all BTL. I never thought for one moment when I found this site in April that we would still be here discussing the catastrophe that is lockdown. I am not alone in the damage to businesses but have lost £100s of thousands in this and if it were not for the community here, I would have given up a long time ago. I cannot put into words how much my daily intake of sanity has meant in a mad mad world.

From the bottom of my heart – thank you. I will never give up.

I will sign off the evening with my favourite quote of the year from St Augustine:

“Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are.”

Merry Xmas!

So no material Covid found among lorry drivers. Poor truckers. I’m ashamed to be British.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9087279/Another-800-military-personnel-sent-help-test-4-000-drivers-stuck-Kent-Christmas-Day.html

10,000 tests and only 24 positive. Yes just 24 out of 10,000.
This is a 0.24% positive rate. Well within the real of false positives.

More evidence PCR is rubbish and should be tested.

Hopefully someone will start to notice.

Ivor Cummings said something similar in the interview with Tom Woods – at some point they’ll need fewer positives to show that the vaccine is working (and there’s a lot of money invested in vaccines, as we know). The interview is very good (it was posted here before, but I’ve only found time to watch it today, of all days):

There was a troubling moment today when a guest at my Xmas table, after one too many glasses, started to show the effects of being subjected to brainwashing and suddenly began openly insulting people (loved ones, I think) in the room who do not wear masks in shops.

This was in spite of our excellent hospitality. He knows we don’t wear masks so I was gobsmacked. Totally. Ouch.

Our governments and our Gates paid for mass media are extremely divisive and nasty, and they know it, and the do it on purpose. They will continue. They fcucked Xmas for thousands.

I will have to put this incident down to a lovers tiff and too much Port…as I wish to continue seeing my family. Family is more important than masks.

Port is a nasty drink, like the government and Gates paid for media and so called “health reporters” in particular.

I couldn’t understand why they were so keen on getting London into tier 4.

The mutant virus story is such an obvious pack of lies

Then the brexit deal was cynically announced on Christmas Eve. I doubt if many have read the full document yet but it is bound to be a surrender and not brexit at all

MP’s and protesters are less likely to be able to travel to London whilst it’s in tier 4

What the serial liar Handy cock has done to 5,000 lorry drivers is inhuman

This is the point, isn’t it: “MPs and protestors are less likely to be able to travel to London while it’s in tier 4.” Avoiding scrutiny and suppressing dissent are major preoccupations of this government. There is also the public order angle: when people eventually become angry about their ruined lives, the restrictions will come in handy to prevent riots. Finally, I suspect the decision to cancel Christmas was taken to prevent people from rediscovering freedom – reality even. A proper five day celebration would have let the genie out of the bottle, possibly necessitating force to get it back in again.

I try to be ultra cautious because of health issues but I’m fiercely anti lockdown and pro making your own choices as a responsible adult. Yesterday, I visited my cousin also cautious because of health problems. We acted normally and had a lovely afternoon.
Today, I was invited to visit church friends, B and S whom I usually spend Christmas with. S is lovely and was very good to me in the spring, B has been freaking out since March and living apart from S but joined her today.

He collected me, at least he didn’t fuss over my lack of mask but had all windows wound down rather than a usual couple of inches for ventilation. (I’m all for letting some fresh air in but this was freezing) He grumbled the entire journey about people who disobeyed the rules and said it was too dangerous for me to stay long.

He decreed where we all sat. He sat at the far side of the room while S and I sat at opposite sides of the table. He made her move a further foot away and wear a mask save when eating. I told him I hardly went out and quoted the US Marines. study for the futility of trying to control a virus. He still muttered about rule-breakers,and obeying every rule and acted as if I had leprosy, bubonic plague and ebola combined.

The food was very good. I then tried to show them some photos which was someone difficult 10 feet apart.

S was tired so I made my excuses and thankfully returned home. I guess this is Christmas according to SAGE!

Social media today suggests tier four has been disregarded totally in my area. Today felt pretty quiet actually, not even a peep of doom from SAGE or the media. I expected some Sage prof to come out early in the morning with some catastrophic prediction of 20000 dead in the next two weeks because of Christmas in some final push to get people to cancel their plans.

I’m sure the fear porn will be ramped up over the next few days to prepare us for a January lockdown. The death registering lag over Christmas will probably mean the death toll in a few days time will be over 1000 which the media and government will blame on Christmas and people not following the rules.

Hope you all had as good of a Christmas as you could have and good luck with whatever awaits us in the future Thanks Toby and this community for keeping me sane this year.
