The garment worn by some Muslim women is already banned in public places in the Scandinavian country, but the move would now expand the order into classrooms across Denmark.
In Denmark, the term ‘parallel societies’ refers to residential areas where more than half of inhabitants are from an immigrant background.
The ban on full-face coverings was introduced in Denmark in 2018, with those found to break the rule forced to pay a £1,300 fine.
Despite Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s move to extend the ‘burka ban’ to schools and universities, critics have argued that the use of the face coverings are not widespread in classrooms.

Denmark has some of the toughest migration laws in Europe, which were introduced after its Left-leaning Government, which came into power in 2019, promised to curb migration to “protect Danishness”.
In addition to introducing the famous ‘burka ban’, new rules came in compelling all newcomers and their children to learn Danish or lose asylum-seeker benefits.
Immigrants were also moved around the country to stop a ‘parallel’ foreign society growing up under a so-called ‘ghetto law’.

It’s beginning to look like Denmark would be a decent consideration for anyone thinking of escaping the multi-cult hellhole that’s been deliberately created in Great Britain.
I am and always have been against the State proscribing clothing (within obvious limits).
I despise any face covering, and also head coverings that are for cultural reasons. The hijab is not religious – it is cultural. Both garments represent the oppression and subjugation of half of the population. To me, they also represent the barbarism of the men of that culture, because they were imposed on women by men who can’t control the urge to sexually assault women.
I defend their right to wear them, but I insist on the right to mock those who do, and to mock their men who enforce it, and to mock the culture it comes from. Such cultures are the antithesis of Western values.
For balance, I’m not in favour of head coverings for religious reasons either. I find skull caps ridiculous as I do nuns’ habits. This is quite likely because I believe religion to be humanity’s poison. If God had wanted people to wear head coverings, he wouldn’t have given us scalps.

And evidently you don’t have to be Muslim in order to support and wish for the oppression and subjugation of females, as regular comments/behaviour on this site clearly demonstrate. There are various manifestations of this illiberal and undeniably misogynistic attitude which don’t take the form of hijabs and burqas.
I agree with your final sentence but, honestly, I’m not on here enough to see the behaviour pattern you’re writing about. That’s not to say it doesn’t happen, so I’ll look out for it.

I am generally against the state banning anything though I am not keen on face coverings of any kind. They are trying to send a signal. I am not convinced it’s the right approach, but I agree with the motivation. As for creating prosperity, one hopes they are trying to do that too, but bear in mind that prosperity is not the be all and end all AND it is made possible by high trust societies with good social cohesion, monocultural apart from small minorities, good human capital – so it’s up to the state to try and create or maintain those conditions. Probably too late now. Jews, Amish, nuns, priests, vicars represent tiny minorities pretty much wherever they are in the world – nobody cares much what tiny minorities do, because they don’t affect much. The parallel societies are not going to go away because you force people not to dress in a certain way in certain places.
It’s a state of mind, never mind the place.

True, but IMO it’s a signal that will be ignored for a few generations, maybe forever. It won’t resolve anything in my lifetime. A bigger signal would be to stop all immigration from non-European countries.

Certainly in favour of removing anyone here illegally and those who commit serious crimes or commit less serious crimes repeatedly, and certainly in favour of shutting down the “asylum” racket and making the benefits system a lot less generous. Also in favour of looking at revoking the right to vote in GEs for Commonwealth citizens. Stop virtually all immigration. Abolish all restrictions on speech, abolish Equality Act. No more extended families brought over for those already here. But people who are here legally, who pay their own way, don’t commit crimes, I think it would be morally wrong to remove them and will never command anything like enough public support for it to happen.

Re Commonwealth citizens voting rights in the UK we need to be careful but perhaps we could work towards confining voting rights to citizens of those Commonwealth countries whose head of state is the King.
I think the case for giving Commonwealth citizens special treatment is long long gone. To vote in a GE, become a British citizen. Same rule for everyone. OR minimum 5 or 10 year period of residency, same rule for everyone including the millions of our European cousins with Settled Status.

I completely agree with this ruling on full face covering. However, I am puzzled by the comment made by the judge of Kaur, mother of Henry Nowak’s killer. This from the BBC News website, “The judge tells Kaur she would have been fully aware the kirpan could only be used as a “last resort” in self-defence.” Only last night on GBN, we heard from a resident of beleaguered Crowborough that she was only allowed to carry an alarm as self-defence – nothing else. Can anyone explain the judge’s comment, because I cannot.
