  • “Twin Covid variants begin spreading in Britain: Health bosses are now officially tracking pair of Omicron splinter strains as outbreak levels off with one in 30 people infected” – The U.K. Health Security Agency has deemed BQ.1 and XBB “variant designations” due to their rapid growth and fears over their mutations, the Mail reports.
  • “‘Compassionate’ 17-year-old girl was hit by train and killed after her mental health worsened during Covid lockdowns, inquest hears” – The Mail reports that a teenager from Fleetwood, Lancashire, was killed after being hit by a train after suffering serious mental health problems because of the Covid lockdown, an inquest heard, in a likely tragic suicide.
  • “Let us free: Rare protest erupts in Tibet over three-month Covid lockdown as hundreds march in streets and clash with officials in hazmat suits to decry harsh measures, no income and food shortages… before footage is wiped from Chinese social media” – Tibet’s capital Lhasa has been locked down for 74 days in accordance with China’s Zero-Covid strategy, which sees millions of residents across the country repeatedly confined to their homes, reports the Mail.
  • “U.K. scientists created mutant Covid strains in ‘high-risk, low-benefit’ lab experiments: SAGE-linked team comes under fire amid calls for more regulation over controversial ‘gain-of-function’ research” – The Mail discovers that scientists at Imperial College London have also been making Covid mutants, with critics calling it “insanity” and warned the lab trials could unleash a new viral threat.
  • “Business insolvencies surge 40% in wake of Covid” – Economic turmoil is expected to spur an even larger wave of bankruptcies over the next year, reports the Telegraph.
  • “Matthew Wade situation shows Australia’s ludicrous double-standards on Covid” – While Australian cricketer Wade was able to be picked for the T20 World Cup match with England despite actually having Covid at the time, Novak Djokovic remains banned from the country due to his vaccination status, fumes Oliver Brown in the Telegraph.
  • “Vaccine injury payouts explode to $77m” – News.com.au reports that in Australia, payouts for COVID-19 vaccine injuries are set to explode more than 80-fold to nearly $77 million by July next year, budget papers have revealed.
  • “Kheriaty vs. University of California” – Aaron Kheriaty, former Director of Medical Ethics at the University of California, writes in Brownstone about his lawsuit against his then-employer over the vaccine mandate, which he brought on principled grounds despite having previously been a fulsome supporter of the pandemic measures.
  • “The dictatorial, dreadful state we’re in” – Dr. Niall McCrae in TCW Defending Freedom recommends Simon Elmer’s new book: “We are in a battle of biblical poignancy against a dystopian technocracy that will dehumanise us and determine whether we live or die. If you think that far-fetched, you should read Elmer to understand the predicament for humanity.”
  • “Journalists Continue Their Valiant Struggle to Make Monkeypox a Thing” – Monkeypox will never be a thing, says Eugyppius.
  • “Covid Vaccines and All-Cause Mortality” – The ‘Swiss Doctor’ offers an assessment of the Covid vaccines.
  • “Eco-extremists are leading the world towards despair, poverty, and starvation” – Utopian solutions for saving the planet are doomed to failure and worse, warns Jordan Peterson in the Telegraph. “We must wake up before it is too late.”
  • “WEF: ‘Climate Reparations’ on Top of the Agenda” – Igor Chudov says the message is ‘you owe reparations because you emit too much CO2’.
  • “Sunak is right to stay away from COP27” – Downing Street said the PM will stay home to focus on “pressing domestic commitments”, Ross Clark writes in the Spectator. But the truth is, he says, “there is no point in any U.K. Prime Minister travelling to any more of these summits when the world’s largest carbon emitters have made it perfectly plain that they have no intention of copying Britain’s example”.
  • “Top Dems Urge Biden To Nationalise Oil and Gas Industry” – Calls for Biden to socialise industry have moved quickly from fringe to mainstream, says Michael Shellenberger.
  • “The climate scaremongers: Reality catches up with the electric car” – Paul Homewood in TCW Defending Freedom notes that electric car production is shifting to China, where energy is cheaper.
  • “The U.S. must resolve its Ukrainian contradiction” – Avoiding dialogue with Russia is reckless folly, argues Daniel R. DePetris in the Critic.
  • “Elon Musk and the great fear of free speech” – Brendan O’Neill in Spiked explains why even the hint of more liberty sends the woke set into meltdown.
  • “Anti-woke Chief Constable turns failing force around with back-to-basics approach” – Stephen Watson has taken Greater Manchester Police out of special measures after a pledge to investigate every crime and put bobbies on the beat, reports the Telegraph.
  • “Now another Cambridge College axes its Harry Potter-themed event after ‘transphobic’ row: Furious undergraduates hit back against formal dinner associated with J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world” – A Cambridge University college ditched its Harry Potter concept for a formal dinner after some students complained that it was “transphobic”, reports the Mail.
  • “Tavistock whistleblower says SNP ‘only listened to trans activists groups’ over Gender Reform Bill” – Dr. David Bell accused the Scottish Government of ignoring concerns raised by psychiatrists, clinicians and campaigners about the proposals, the Telegraph reports.
  • “How British Rowing fell victim to radical trans ideology” – The governing body is accused of a “failure of leadership” by former U.S. Olympic rower Dr. Mary O’Connor over its “indefensible” transgender policy, reports the Telegraph.
  • “The British Barack Obama?” – Andrew Sullivan writes on the rise of Rishi Sunak and the American Left’s “staggering silence” – though he still claims Sunak’s rise was “unlikely”, which suggests his own misunderstanding of Great Britain.
  • “Ireland to Jail ‘Hate Speech’ Offenders for Up to Five Years” – Breitbart News reports that those who use so-called ‘hate speech’ will soon be jailed for up to five years under new legislation published this week.
  • “Heavy menstrual bleeding (heavy periods) was added by EMA as another side effect of the ‘safe and effective’ injections from Pfizer and Moderna, the EU agency stated on October 28th 2022” – MEP Cristian Terhes tweets that “they made people who trusted them their lab rats”.

Heavy menstrual bleeding (heavy periods) was added by EMA as another side effect of the "safe and effective" injections from Pfizer and Moderna, the EU agency stated on 28.10.2022.

Anti Royalist sentiments. The msm is vociferously endorsing one of the family members and his wife, while for the last few years of the Duke’s and the Queens lives, that particular family member were expressing those sentiments for the world to hear and read for cash. To arrest anyone for expressing their own sentiments seems hypocritical

Trevor Sinclair should not lose his job, he should be given another go at apologising for his opinions.

Hmm. Not quite the pinnacle of sceptical thought.

I think Toby Young and Nick Dixon should listen to what they’ve said and maybe have another go themselves.

No matter how royalist you are, there is such a thing as overkill. We’ve still over 5 days of this compelled national woe to endure before HMQ’s funeral and it’s driving me nuts – and I was a fan of the Queen. I’m so glad I haven’t had an appointment cancelled, and it was a wrong move to do this.

It’s got so bad I’m actually starting to feel sorry for the Royals (unheard of!) This mawkish, overblown theatre of Britain in Gloom must grind their gears as well as some of ours. When Charles threw a tantrum over the leaky fountain-pen, I can only think it was symptomatic of the strain he’s under. OTOH, maybe he is just a prat, but I can’t imagine the Queen doing that. The enforced walking behind the coffin seems just cruel and now seems ingrained in the catalogue of What We Do.

I expect it’s all driven by a fear of being found wanting in respect, but I can’t bear cruelty, even when it’s being inflicted on people I don’t particularly like.

Quite agree.
When talking about some of the tweets, e.g. from the professor at Carnegie Melon, the guys didn’t use the word obscene, although they maybe should’ve done. However what they didn’t say, and no one else has said, is that the burden placed on Charles and the other senior royals is nothing short of obscene. I’m not a moderate republican, and disagree with a lot of what certain royals (Charles and Harry in particular) have said in the recent and not so recent past. However I also see in them fellow human beings who have just experienced one of the worst things that could happen to anyone i.e. loosing a beloved member of their family. Surely they could’ve been allowed to grieve in private and not make a public appearance until the Queen’s funeral, after which Charles could’ve become King Charles III. Even the most ardent monarchist would have to admit that the country wouldn’t collapse into anarchy if we went for 2 weeks without an official head of state.
Something else that hasn’t been mentioned anywhere is the issue of virtue signalling, which the daily sceptic has rightly criticised in the past. Therefore I find it strange that they haven’t wondered how much of the public outpouring of grief over the Queen’s death can be explained by virtue signalling. I remember when Princess Diana died in 1997 and numerous commentators in the media were taken aback by the massive public show of grief. The term virtue signalling hadn’t been invented back then, so they talked about people doing what they felt they should do, and even wondered if it was a mild form of mass hysteria. It makes me wonder how many people queueing for 20+ hours to see the Queen’s coffin and/or travelling hundreds of miles to lay flowers in London are just doing what they think they should do, in other words virtue signalling.

On London Calling I am generally Team Toby but I may be moving towards the Delingpole view that Toby is a cuck on Liz Truss.

The nonsense from Truss about fracking “under the right circumstances” is just a mealy mouthed way of saying no while appearing to no longer be an opponent. Truss has enabled local councils to block fracking regardless of the national interest.

Truss’s energy subsidy might be a short-term political necessity but it would have been far better to have immediately suspended all net zero taxes, subsidies, mandates and associated regulations for a decade and then made net zero the focus of the next election.

Liz Truss clearly doesn’t grasp the enormity of the problem and isn’t up to the job of PM, we don’t have to wait for the results of the next election to see that Truss is the Kim Campbell of the UK Conservative Party. Campbell was briefly PM of Canada and led the Conservatives from a majority government to 2 seats after less than 100 days as PM.

It is hardly controversial being against the monarchy. Like every other institution, from Parliament, the Police, the Judiciary, the Clergy, they are all on board with the Great Reset.

The Queen was happy to meet Trudeau and therefore condone his action against the Canadian Truckers.
