Audiences up and down the country have been watching the People’s Emergency Briefing, the film launched 10 months ago to great fanfare. The emergency, if you did not guess, is the so-called ‘climate crisis’.
The 50-minute film features a mix of briefings by experts, interspersed with video footage of weather disasters and reactions from celebrities such as Jennifer Saunders. It has been produced to appear as if it is an official Government briefing, complete with Covid press briefing style podiums. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is fronted by the BBC’s favourite eco-activist, Chris Packham.
The choice of film distribution is a curious one, given that those behind it want their message spread far and wide. It is not available by download, nor on channels such as You Tube. Instead, it can only be viewed at specially organised screenings. The organisers clearly don’t want people to have the time and space to carefully examine the claims made and question them. Instead, it is all about ‘group emotion’. Each screening is even followed by a ‘structured discussion’.

There are nine separate briefings on Nature, Climate, Tipping Points, Weather Extremes, Food Security, Health, National Security, Economics and Energy Transition, plus an introduction by Mike Berners-Lee.
Many of the claims made are not factual, something you might expect in an expert briefing. Many of the statements made are simply opinions or unproven projections.

A monumental hoax and scam the modern world has never seen before. The propaganda has been an unmitigated success capturing and brainwashing most people into thinking they are virtuous by agreeing to save the planet. Whilst common sense and voices that try to promote an entirely different and reasoned opposing views are silenced and cancelled at every opportunity. Always treated as climate sceptic fools.
So it should be titled “The day after the day after tomorrow” – a mockumentary
The great poobahs of the anthropogenic climate change religion just can’t help themselves, can they. Due to the existence of a tiny trace compound in the atmosphere, the climate is going to change beyond all recognition and it’s all our fault. We must remove every trace of this compound and remove all ability for plants to be fed before the world is destroyed. We are seeing a change in the climate never before recorded and it’s got to be stopped by returning us to the Neolithic era. We won’t even be allowed candles because they are made either from oil or animal fat, and the vegetarians won’t allow those.
But is a measurable change over a century or less unprecedented? Actually no. I have just watched the PBS programme on the fall of the Egyptian empire about 2200 BC, caused by a multi century drought which saw the end of Nile flooding and a lack of rainfall around the world above the equator. No man made change, possibly a super El Nino. Known as the 4.2 kiloyear event. Conclusion, they’re a bunch of charlatans.
The Egyptian mega-drought has been linked to a massive volcanic eruption in Alaska which cooled the planet due to the amount of sulphur that was blasted into the stratosphere. Cooling led to changes in global weather patterns and lower rainfall over the Ethiopian Highlands which led to less Nile flooding. A far less severe analogy are the famines that regularly affected the Sahel region, including Ethiopia in the 1970’s and 1980’s following relatively modest cooling.
Your theory differs to the one I saw but doesn’t change the fact that a period of drought that existed across the globe, Egypt, India, the Americas etc for about two centuries, started almost instantaneously when compared to the time that humans have walked the earth, due to a change in the climate. This is something that the green Luddites claim has never happened in the past and is only happening now due to our behaviour.

Same here. And now the CofE has instituted the new Creation Season. If that isn’t worshipping nature, I don’t know what is, and I’m sure it’s not Biblical. Of course, it’s all underpinned by the Net Zero messaging that’s become a regular part of services in my Diocese, and lapped up by anyone who’s not prepared to think or do a bit of research for themselves. I can’t recall the last time I heard a sermon about salvation or the Church’s missionary calling.
And in my large local C of E church, where it was so ‘popular’ that there will be another showing. I did not attend for fear of bursting a blood vessel.
Decades ago doom-mongers would stand in our high streets wearing their end of the world bill boards. On the whole they were ignored, maybe slightly pitied. Now they dominate the media and are taken seriously by many. The age of stupid indeed.
Except for the famous billboarder in the West End shopping area of London, who called it completely correctly about 50 years ago “eat more fruit, fish and nuts”. He might still be with us if he took his own advice!

Idly searching ‘500 year weather cycles over the last 2,000 years’, the item explains—‘following the last ‘little Ice Age, we have ‘Industrial, unprecedented Global warming’ and tales of doom and gloom. It seems the programmers of AI haven’t moved on from GIGO.
Odd that among the trailer’s ‘talking heads’ (only 3 of whom I recognised) there is a very brief clip of Vladimir Putin. That, I thought to be a little lame, when they could have put in every scaremonger’s favourite bogeyman, Adolf Hitler, instead.
