Green Party activists who discussed wanting Israel “wiped off the map” in a private WhatsApp group are now backing a motion at the Green Party conference that would force Britain’s biggest newspapers to bend the knee to a state regulator. The Times has the story:
Green Party activists exposed by the Times over private discussions about “wiping Israel off the map” have backed plans to give a statutory regulator powers over journalists’ ethics.
Animah Kosai, a member of the Green Party Council, which helps to set the party’s political direction, used the same WhatsApp group where the anti-Zionist discussions were held to urge members and supporters to back the proposal.
The motion, which could become Green Party policy if selected and approved at its autumn conference, would require the country’s biggest newspapers to submit to statutory regulation and allow a watchdog to determine whether assignments given to journalists were unethical.
At least three members of the Greens Against Imperialism group named in The Times’s reporting are among those backing the motion. This newspaper revealed this week how participants had described hostility towards Jews as “understandable” and supported Israel being “wiped off the map”.
Zack Polanski, the Green Party leader, has separately called for government action against the press in response to an article about climate policy.
He said: “It’s time we sorted out the press. Constant misinformation to protect their donors and fossil fuels is destroying lives and our planet. The government must step up and stop being cowardly.”
Sophus Magill, a Green parish councillor in Wootton Bridge on the Isle of Wight, set up the Greens Against Imperialism group in which the messages were shared. Magill wrote “Zionism has to go”, adding: “The only solution is one equal state.”
When another participant asked whether that meant wanting Israel “wiped off the map, in essence?”, Magill replied: “Yes, I would like that.”
After the article was published, Magill complained about the Times using his photograph amid suggestions that newspapers should not be allowed to use pictures of people they were reporting on without their consent.
He wrote: “The fact they used my picture as well […] I stand by the things I said. Unfortunately the framing was very distorted and strawmanning.”
Kosai then used the group to urge members to co-propose the press regulation motion. She wrote: “Reminder to those not yet co-proposed the Late Motion on Jason Arday as that addresses the woeful unethical sensationalist media that doesn’t care about the people it smears – especially if they’re black, because the mainstream media in this country IS racist.”
More than 50 cross-party MPs have written to the Independent Press Standards Organisation arguing the regulator should investigate media coverage of Arday, the former Cambridge professor who was found dead at a property in London last week.

I’d agree to ban anything the Guardian has to say, though I’d have to find some other form of comedy.
So, more than 50 cross-Party MPs have nothing better to do with their time than blame the MSM for doing the job which Cambridge University should have done before they hired the serial liar and con-artist Arday.
I guess Arday didn’t know his Bible:
“Be sure your sin will find you out” is a famous warning from the Bible, found in the Book of Numbers 32:23. It means that hidden wrong choices or secrets will always come to light. People cannot run away from the results of what they do.
And I guess the 50+ dross being paid a large sum of money to represent their Constituents in Parliament don’t either.
And numerous Bible passages/verses which confirm that God’s eye is always on the land of Israel. To imagine that it can be ‘wiped off the map’ is utter foolishness. That’s the destiny of other nations.
