Europe’s biggest dairy company Arla is facing a backlash after giving cows Bovaer, a synthetic additive to their feed in an attempt to cut their methane emissions as part of the Net Zero drive. The Telegraph has more.
Arla, which makes brands including Lurpak butter and Cravendale milk, said it was working with Morrisons, Tesco and Aldi to trial giving cows the additive Bovaer.
Thirty of Arla’s 9,000 farmers will test how the additives can be introduced into normal feeding routines, with the aim of then rolling Bovaer out more broadly.
Arla said Bovaer had been found to reduce methane emissions from cows by around 27%.
Morrisons, Tesco and Aldi said it was a “great way of testing out where we can drive change at scale to bring down emissions”.
However, the announcement sparked a backlash on social media, with some shoppers raising concerns about the use of additives in their groceries.
Some went as far as to say they would no longer shop at supermarkets involved in the trial, while others urged the grocers to label any products which may have come from the farms using the additive.
There is no suggestion that the additive is not safe for consumers, with the U.K.’s Food Standard Agency having approved it for use.
The regulator also said that Bovaer poses “an acceptable” risk to the environment.

I hope the Green psycopaths don’t have a schoolchild tell them that there used to be 80 million Bison in N America, and that all the great herds in the Tundra, Africa, and elsewhere all burp and fart methane as well. They will call for the extinction of all natural life on Earth.
Christ do these fruitcakes know anything about geological history whatsoever?!
Correct, the world was able to support more life when it had more Co2 in the atmosphere than it can now!!
Can’t they get this through their thick skulls?
You could try using a mallet and tent peg.
Ah, but there’s nothing inside their skulls!
I see that as an opportunity to put something worthwhile in that hole then!
CO2 was 8,000 ppm higher when we first developed as creatures but they don’t care. This is not about the environment, this is about virtue signalling, tyranny, money, power and ultimately Bill Gates getting us chewing on his fake meat.
At least we know what butter and milk not to buy.
Many will now boycott arla products as well as the stores that sell that crap.
Here is the fun part. Every top climate scientist is certain of one thing. Neither beast nor man cause climate change. It us a natural phenomenon. Read Professor Willie Soon, Astrohysicist, interpretation of climate change. Perhaps the current gov’t might take one of Professor Soon’s courses. Because our health and food safety agencies are seriously negligent in their understanding of climate change.
I for one would prefer not to be one of their victims due to negligence on their part.
There must be some other sinister reason they want to put this stuff into us via the poor dairy cattle…
“In January 2023, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates invested millions into a rival start-up, Rumin 8, which develops similar methane-reducing supplements.”
If Gates has got a hand in this, you know it can’t be good for you. He wants to “Abolish Animal Agriculture” and force us all to be vegans. So this new stuff must be designed to cause some disastrous side-effects further down the line, to put people off dairy products.
Yes, it’s the first stage in a process to eliminate milk production and then animal husbandry.
Exactly! And news today said a large dairy company in South Australia was forced to close, citing “High Energy Prices” as one of the reasons.

“There is no suggestion that the additive is not safe for consumers, with the UK’s Food Standard Agency having approved it for use”.. Lol.
In other words, enablers a la the MHRA etc.
Must be good though, Gates approves (maybe makes money from it) so it must be good – just like his vaccines that have saved millions of lives.
That’s me done with whoever sells products derived from its green benefits.
“There is no suggestion that the additive is not safe for consumers, with the U.K.’s Food Standard Agency having approved it for use.”
Of course it’s safe for consumers. Where and how often have we heard that before?
Fortunately we buy our milk from a local farmer so not affected. This is madness off the scale. Shame on those supermarkets.
Until your local farm is forced to use it or Bill Gates’ copy.
Boycott these stores
. this is insane .luckliy for past 12 years or so i buy delicious organic raw milk from my local farmer who will never vaccinate his cows either .i used to be fine with buying milk in england when traveling thinking is much better than in the center fo r GMO s usa . even managed to buy raw milk from hook&sons. but now one more thing to worry about buying milk from a supermarket in london , thought was safe there .
why isn’t gates in jail yet. hope rfk jr will help with that!
I feel so comforted that am official government body has approved it for use, just like the jabs.
I shop at Tesco but will no longer buy milk or meat from there and will no longer buy any Arla products, which includes Anchor butter and Muller products.
Boycott

Who makes the treatment. I hope not Phizer
A company which involves a certain Mr Gates. No surprise.
This was when I realised Bill Gates is either a total ignoramus, a psycho or something in-between… November 2016, on his own blog, gatesnotes:

EDIT – realised you’re asking who makes the treatment for the side effects of the foodstuffs from animals who ingested Bovaer
Remove B and G from the reptile’s name and you get Ill Ates, which is exactly what he wants for us all.
‘pparently it causes birth defects in animals.
I’m sure it’s nothing.
DIrty compliant bastards !!!!… + F the supermarkets !

Reducing Cows’ Methane is Madness
So every farm will require at least three official (and, of course, highly trained) fart analysts to follow, sniff, listen and record every emission of gas from each and every cow’s rear end,
I sense a new subject requiring a degree to be taken at the woke universities, a massive reduction in the unemployed, a minimum of three FA’s per cow, (eight hour shifts) with standby available in case of illness/maternity/lengthy holiday, suitable (and minimum) income levels, plus pension rights(to be available from age 45) as few will be able to cope with this onerous and malodorous work for very long.
The income potential (to be funded by the wealthy capitalist farmers, of course) will attract many people from abroad and solve the immigration crisis at a stroke!
And, finally, WE, IN THE UK WILL BECOME THE ENVY OF THE WORLD!!
Erm… There are some people in white coats hammering on my door… An Amazon delivery? No. I don’t think so… Very odd…
Me thinks there is a full time job in Westminster analysing the noxious effluvia that is being emitted from that place, and it is far more damaging to the environment, the economy and frankly everything!
Yea, they said the covid vax and thalidomide were safe too.
Well I for one won’t be buying their contaminated product.
Once again for profit and power our basic natural foods are being messed with. I will be forwarding this piece to all my friends and I am 100% sure they will, if they are buying Arla products will stop doing so.
“There is no suggestion that the additive is not safe for consumers, with the U.K.’s Food Standard Agency having approved it for use.”
Oh well that’s okay then!
I expect some of that additive will enter the food chain. Are any other subscribers getting fed up with ‘worth reading in full’ only to be taken to a newspaper that requires another subscription? DS
please stop wasting my time, just add a star symbol or something to indicate the link requires this.
Bovaer. Read the package insert please. For those handling this drug/chemical, avoid inhalation, concerns about male fertility. Concern about eye and skin irritation. What exactly were the tests done on this drug/chemical which is now being fed to cows and possibly passed onto humans through cow’s milk, cream, butter and yogurt consumption in Arla products?
can anyone remember the safe and effective mRNA vaxxes used over the past three yrs? That were not safe nor effective. Why do we always have to fight for honesty from the UK health and food safety agencies. why cannot we trust them to do their damn job?
