Wow! Now that was the very last thing I would have guessed for the Paris Olympics attack.
What I can’t understand is how they knew exactly where the cables were, how to take them out without frying themselves, and which ones would cause the maximum disruption, as one French railway engineer said.

I’m not sure if lots of commentators are genuinely deluded or on a mass gaslighting campaign. I think mostly the former, with a sprinkling of the latter. I listened to Nick Dixon’s interview with David Frost the other day and had to draw the conclusion that Frost seemed like a decent guy but was completely detached from the traditional Conservative voting base. He clearly just couldn’t get his head around the simple fact that the Conservative party sank because they stuck a middle finger up to the people that put them in power and merrily proceeded to enforce the most left-wing government the people had ever seen. He was saying things along the lines of “we’re not sure what position Tory voters want us to hold” – the centre right you bloody idiot. And that’s one of the more right-field of the Con-servatives! I absolutely despair at anyone who still thinks that party is in any way Conservative. As far as I’m concerned, they’re dead in the water. I’d have to be a complete moron – like off my head tripping – to ever even consider trusting those far-left traitors again.
