The former First Minister of Scotland and lockdown zealot Nicola Sturgeon has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the SNP. The BBC has more.
Police confirmed a 52-year-old woman was taken into custody as a suspect and is being questioned by detectives.
It follows the arrest and release of her husband, ex-SNP chief executive Peter Murrell in April.
A spokesman for Ms Sturgeon confirmed she was cooperating with the investigation.
He said: “Nicola Sturgeon has today, Sunday 11 June, by arrangement with Police Scotland, attended an interview where she was to be arrested and questioned in relation to Operation Branchform.
“Nicola has consistently said she would cooperate with the investigation if asked and continues to do so.”
On April 5th, officers searched Ms. Sturgeon’s home and the party’s headquarters in Edinburgh.
Mr. Murrell was later released without charge.
A luxury motorhome was also seized by police from outside the home of Mr. Murrell’s mother in Dunfermline.
Almost two weeks later, SNP treasurer Colin Beattie was arrested and released without charge.
Mr. Murrell and Mr. Beattie were both treated as suspects and were taken into custody for the legally defined period of up to 12 hours of questioning before being released pending further inquiries.
Under the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2016, police can release a suspect for further investigation, but they can be re-arrested at a later date.

Stop Press: Murdo Fraser, the Conservative MSP, is enjoying the turmoil in the SNP, judging from his Twitter feed.

Non-urgent, non-violent crime, public figure. I’ve no time at all for Nicola Sturgeon, but once upon a time it was, “Would you accompany us to the station to help us with our enquiries?” Arrest was done at the time they had a decent case, wanted to charge, and the suspect had sufficient reason to do a runner.
Am I wrong in thinking that psychological intimidation is the sole name of the police game nowadays?
Some hone their skills in-house.

Scottish law may be different in this respect, I’m not sure.
Justice would be served if she shared a cell with the transgender bloke she was so keen to badge as female.
I’d also like to mention a country gets the government it deserves.
As John Wayne said, life is hard. Being stupid just makes it harder.
Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, those island places – all under the yoke of an unelected civil service.
That aside, the SNP doesn’t represent Scotland, they represent Other Interests but seem to have fooled many into thinking that leaving one Union and joining a bigger union is in some way independence. If Scotland were to be separated from the UK it would risk going on a faster-track to Communism.
Remember John Smeaton’s “We’ll set aboot ye” after tackling the terrorist at Glasgow Airport? Changed days after 20 years.
The dictionary version of “Independence” is —–Free from the authority and jurisdiction of others. —–The SNP say they want to be “An Independent country within the EU”. But there is no such thing. No country in the EU is “Independent”. Ask Poland if they feel “Independent” when the EU fines them half a million Euros a day for daring to keep using coal. The SNP version of Independence is a fake. Back in the EU the Scottish Government would simply be local administrators implementing everything dished out to them from Brussels.
Funny
I’ve always wondered if “Nicola” was a transgender bloke or if that’s just how they make them up there. I’m reminded of this quote from the Hobbit:
“…so like to the dwarf-men that the eyes and ears of other peoples cannot tell them apart.”
Seems we have entered the era of political persecution and possibly violent power changes if things continue this way.
Yeahhhh!
Breaking…Well about two hours ago. Krankie sent home without charge.
That’s the end of that.
Again! Slapper my thigh
The authorities work is done! We’ve made it look like we’re doing our jobs! Now, please disperse, nothing to see here!
“HELLO HELLO, Did you just offend someone sir/madam/they/she/them/it/whatever! Is offended, we can’t have the now can we sir/madam/they/she/them/it/whatever ”
I’m feeling your collar! “You will have to escort me to the local clink so I can shake you down as a racist, transpobic bigot!
“Blimey! This new world reality his tainting my perceptions”
( Foot note: if only it was a joke? Someone please wake me up into the real world I used to know)
No arrest for the care-home deaths, face mask mandate in the middle of Summer 2020 when nothing was happening and the other damaging lockdown policies taken under-advisement by government departments and the First Minister when it suited their own ends.
Yet a (still) missing £660k triggers at least the illusion of action.
Exactly.
Lovely lady. Surely there must be some mistake.
So many depths of irony in one statment!
There was always something a bit, er, fishy about her….
Poor politician’s reputations are at an all time low. This certainly is not going to help. There must be some mistake.
