Recent data reveal that record numbers of patients are opting for private healthcare because they can't get the treatment they need on the NHS. The Daily Sceptic's in-house doctor thinks things will only get worse.
In a departure from his normally upbeat, things-are-getting-better column at the beginning of a new year, Dan Hannan now thinks of himself as a “rational pessimist” and says things will get worse in 2023.
New figures reveal that GPs saw their earnings rise to £142,000 during the pandemic in a Covid pay book. Meanwhile, most GPs now work three days or fewer per week and public satisfaction with GPs is the lowest on record.
According to the always excellent Telegraph columnist Sherelle Jacobs, the exhortation to ‘Protect the NHS’ was not a one-off. It has become a bureaucratic monster that the public are expected to serve, not vice versa.
