It struck me quite some time ago that the virus has been used as an excuse for leaders of supoosedly democratic western countries to adopt the same presentation style as dictatorships almost from the outset of the "crisis".
The hugely expensive, yet bland, conference rooms, lecterns blazoned with the latest slogan/govt behavioural abuse/ propaganda statement.
National flags at a careful, and identical to every other state, 5 to 1o'clock angle behind the "leader" or other speaker.
It smacks drab TV set dressing. It's also indicative of the underlying politics: in adopting almost identical visuals, individual nation states display subservience to a higher authority in the exercise of their virus politics. The daily briefings only exist.because of the virus. The virus must continue, so that the daily briefings continue.
The franchise agreement dictates the visuals to be used in promoting the business, without deviation.
Self-appointed dictators, exceeding constitutional powers under the pretence of a continuing emergency, read from the daily script.

where would you prefer them to stand outside in the rain? Or in a field of cows? Or next to an ice cream van in London Zoo? What would you prefer?
