The Larry Ellison Link

For some reason Larry Ellison has evaded the attentions of the Ernst Stavro Blofeld conspiracy theorists, who have overwhelmingly tended to castigate Tony Blair, Bill Gates, Klause Schwabb, and George Soros.I hope to put that right since Larry Ellison deserves a mention too.

First , who is he? He's a high-tech billionaire who put all his efforts, from a tender age, into creating a Relational Database Management software (RDBMS).  It is his RDBMS Oracle which stores much of the world's data in a manner which makes it easy to retrieve.

OK, so that's how he made his money, what's the link to the others. Like many very wealthy people, he has set up a philanthropic Foundation,in his case the Larry Ellison Foundation.

The foundation has the familiar roster of good causes. a Polio vaccine fund, a save the Gorilla charity, funds for deprived african children and, wait for it, links to the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change

OK, so he kind of bound up with the usual suspects. So what? Well the present executive director of the Larry Ellison Foundation is a fella called Matthew Symonds, the name should be familiar since he's the father of Carrie Johnson née Symonds. Who is said to be an ally of Allegra Stratton, who resigned yesterday for organizing and laughing about a piss up in the Christmas lockdown last year. No wonder Boris spent half his press conference lamenting the loss of Allegra, he was in deep shit with his wife for getting rid of her friend over the  lockdown piss up, and hence, in a fit of pique inflicted new restrictions on millions of people.

So that a lite about Larry Ellison, he's been unfairly left out. Please expend a little of your fury on Larry.

Larry Ellison is one of the most hated people in the tech business.  Up there with Jobs and Gates as a truly nasty piece of work.

And equally hated in the Bay Area. To give an idea of how toxic his reputation is during the Americas Cup in 2013 everyone, and I mean everyone, locally in San Francisco wanted the Kiwi team to beat the Larry Ellison boat.  Just because it was Larrys.

The Kiwi team were based at a pier just by Potrero Hill in San Francisco and they used to go for afternoon coffee up the hill to a local cafe. The first few days the Kiwis kept a low profile thinking that everyone would be supporting the US team but once people in the cafe found out who they were they got a huge welcome and were cheered on at every occasion. Everyone locally was very disappointed when the Kiwis lost but very happy when the got their revenge a few years later in Bermuda.

Thats how much Larry is hated. Even to know of him is to hate him.

Oracle is a has-been company that saw its hayday about 20 years ago and Larry has been hauled up in court multiple times but so far avoided jail for illegally stripping assets from the company to the tune of over $1B per year. He treats the company treasury dept as his own personal cookie jar.

Larry is also hated by everyone in the tech business because he has persisted with a truly stupid and nasty lawsuit for more than a decade that has tried to overturn one of the basic foundations of computer software i.p since, well, 1944.  He is an utterly worthless piece of garbage.

In person he has all the charm of a slum debt collector and about the same morals. Everyone will be very happy when he is dead. Including his four ex wives. Although due to systematic looting of the company by Larry and his family Oracle is unlikely to survive much long afterwards. It would not be the first time either.

So very much in the Robert Maxwell mold.

And your point was?

Thanks, you have done exactly as I asked and expended a bit of fury on Larry.

I'm sure many have envy, but the product he backed and created , the Oracle relational DB now forms the backbone of all data management systems. Ignorant people have tried to find another way to manage data, but none has done as well as Larry and his Oracle. It spawned a completely new branch of mathematics, the relational calculus, that you are far too ignorant to understand.

I  urged you to expend some of your fury on Larry, which you have like a little clockwork orange, as  I knew you would.Your fury is as cheap as chips, mate.

You have a way with toxic words.I fear you may have to wait a while to wait yet, since Larry, is still 'only' 77, and he seems to have lots of go left in him, as does his primary creation, the Oracle database system which has always been second to none, according to ALL tech people who know, rarely since the days of Big Blue has a data system, held absolute dominance  as long and as firmly as Oracle has.

So quit venting your spleen and use you head for a minute, software choices like operating systems or  desktop apps, like Windows and Browsers are instantly replaceable, but large back-end storage systems  take years  to migrate due to data transfer latency , And  that  where is Larry's genius rests, Peta scale  bodies of data are locked in situ due to their size and the shear  duration of   any transfer, once a business is locked into Oracle (the only other system  is MS SQL server) they are stuck.

So recover your senses, and think (If you are able to) why  Oracle might  welcome demand for  large scale data storage and retrieval systems, on a scale no other vendor in the world can furnish, and now you know why Larry has shut down his philanthropic foundation to focus on combating Covid-19, quit ranting! While you are making a fuss, Larry is collecting the data needed for the future global policies , which will all be an effort to compensate for the abysmal failures of democracy. And think for a moment why Larry might engage Matt Symonds, the father of our 'world leader's' wife to head his philanthropic mission to absorb the end of the global democratic mission.

tSo an intelligent person might  wonder, how can I be so sure that jmc is as thick as mince,  All Larry's wisdom resides in a simple fact, he understood that the way to permanently make the link between items of data is to embed the link in the data records themselves, the rest of his story is tangential to that basic fact of life and yet explains everything you  need to know about Vaccine Passports, Digital Identities and everything else about the modern world of data that permeates all our lives today, esp your bank account and pay roll records. All of that is Larry's business, but jmc is as thick as mince and does not get that the basic idea.

This is so funny.

So you bring up the subject of Larry Elision, god knows why, who you know nothing about. And his company Oracle, who you know nothing about. And the software they sell, which you know nothing about.

To give you some idea of just how clueless you are on those subjects well lets see, first time I was in Oracle Towers for a meeting was in the early 1990’s (take the Ralston exit, two exits south of the 101/92 split, go east to Redwood Shores) and the last time was in the late 1990’s. Although I had to do a U turn in their parking lot recently when I overshot the turn off going to another client. Also had some dealings with Sun Microsystems after they were acquired by Oracle (and destroyed) so I suppose that counts too.

Larry Ellison is a sales guy. Nothing more. It was Bob Miner and Ed Oates who wrote the first usable version of their database software. For the Digital VAX in 1983. Which was shipped the same year as the first relational database from IBM. Who actually did “invent” it. Larry Ellison did not “invent” anything. It was EF Codd who “invented” the relational database a decade before and it took IBM almost a decade to decide to ship it. As DB2.

As for the rest of the word salad you wrote. You obviously have not the slight idea about the subject. Looks like a cut and paste from wiki articles. Everything I wrote was based on actually working in the business for many decades. Like to talk ISAM’s, SQL parsers, TP engines? I thought not.

Everything I wrote about Larry is based on direct industry experience and being very familiar with the goings on in the business where it all happens. In the SF Peninsula / Santa Clara Valley and the Seattle area. So yeah, Larry is just another really sleazy Big Tech Billionaire. Just like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos and a whole bunch of people you would not have heard off unless you worked in the business.

As for Larrys "Foundations" thats a typical tax scam for billionaires.  If the interlocking trusts are properly structured a bunch of 503(c)(3)'s will save a huge amount of tax for the billionaires.  The disbursements are always a small fraction of the assets, basically from investment income, but the assets are structured so as to never leave the control of the family.

A nice little tax scam for the very very rich.

And your point was?

How? By showing that you knew absolutely nothing about the subject you brought up?

There was some very specific lines in my post that anyone, and I mean anyone, who knew anything about Larry, Oracle, or the high tech business in general would have picked up on and replied to in a very different way. They would have posted a reply that showed they finally got it, I know something about the subject, and would start asking some intelligent follow-ons. Like how the 503 tax scam works for the billionaires. Or the business reasons for the API lawsuits.

You brought up Larry. Why was nt he a subject of our high tech billionaire "conspiracy theories"? I pointed out that he had a very well known reputation in the business and the local area as a truly vile person. Did you even bother searching for any of the court cases? There are plenty going back to the 1980's.

And when someone who knew quite a lot about the subject chimed in all we get back from you is a lot of what you think is "technical" but to any one in the business sounds like just what it is - just meaningless drivel.

Those technical terms I posted? If you had any serious tech background you would immediately recognized that I really really know what I am talking about. One of them anyone who did this for a living would recognize. The other two, maybe 1 in 10 of senior tech people. Maybe. But very few could give any kind of detailed expansion.

And your latest "reply".  The  sort of pathetic comeback my kids used when they were very stupid teens. We are talking very immature 14 year olds here.

So any more great thoughts on the subject? Or are you going to flounce off to your room and listen to something like Marillion at full volume on your stereo. That will show us.

Or were you one of those fat pimply goths. You sound remarkably like you probably were. So I'd guess more The Sisters of Mercy type music. At full volume. On your Argos brand stereo.

Some  moron , proclaims him to be the next 'Ernst Stavro Blofeld' seeking world domination via vaccine or software, but guess what, cretin, this time it's you, btw: your village is missing its idiot so get back home.
