Science isn't about institutions. Just as faith or belief doesn't require a church. Science is about discovery via observation and the application of method.
Not all science is "good" or has been used for the betterment of humankind. Look at the KWI during the Third Reich.
For what it's worth the world is no "better" a place thanks to mobile phones or ipads or watches which track how many steps you take each day.
But if you love it all without questioning or thinksingaboutit very much that's up to you. Others have a greater capacity for critcal thinking.
The B & M Foundation is also the second biggest donor to the WHO, the problem with their donations is that they come with caveats on what they can be used for so the cynic would say they want to influence all these organisations to do the work and achieve the results that the Foundation desires and not what might be seen as a priority for the organisations themselves or even what is in the best interests of the population as a whole.
