I guess everyone here in this place is already fully awake to the struggle we are engaged in to try and just preserve what was considered normal freedoms, let alone extend and secure them.

I am sure many people have also become aware that those of us believing in informed choice and personal responsibility are having our voices oh so subtly muffled, restricted, shut down.  Whether it is the lack of MSM reporting of the large widespread protests, or the social media and big search engines "ghosting" accounts so that what is posted is not seen by others the net result is huge numbers of people who are growing more uncomfortable and unsure by the day still believe that they are alone in those feelings, that nobody else seems to be thinking what they are.

A critical battlefield in this war will be the ability to communicate, to join with others, to make sure people know they are not alone.  So I had an idea.  If the news will not report what we say and believe.  If social media will stop others from seeing our thinking.  Then we need a medium that can be widely seen, that is under individual control and cannot be stopped en-masse.

I came up with

www.slantedvoice.com

Please have a look, and if you like it share it around.  I have a long list of designs still to work up - and they do go beyond just Covid getting into some of the basics of freedom.

some of the basics of freedom.

I regret to tell you that Freedom is a fine ideal when the world has 2 billion people  or fewer in it as it did when my father was a boy, but now  there are 4 times as many people, everybody has a quarter of the space and hence the freedom they had, and that's just plain arithmetic counting.

I can't think of many pieces of government legislation that increased my freedom, in the last 50 years.

Gosh. How about all the legislation that has established equality for women, for race and for access to education? You can't find anything to celebrate in all that?

@fingal Please could you cite some examples, and then explain how the examples cited have increased his freedom?

@ben-shirley I don't know how old you are, but if you are truly unaware of the naked prejudice on grounds of sex, race and education that was commonplace a short time ago, then you need more information than anyone's going to give you here. As recently as 1973 for example, women were forced to resign from civil service jobs if they married!

@fingal

The freedoms these people seek are those where they can do what they like and others can pay the consequences.

Your examples of equality may not appeal to them.
