Digital identity
There has been much fear about digital identities. We fear that vax passes will be expanded into all areas of life.
It's true, but fear is incorrect. They are certainties, and they are only related by side effect to covid19. A system of digital identities has emerged.
Since the start of mass transport, it has been necessary to have passport agreements to show that the person named is the person they say they are . This set of local arrangements (from a bygone era) has been superseded to an extent by Biometric/digital passports.
Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State requests and requires in the name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.
Yeah, right, the system, such as it was, was from another epoch and could not be upgraded unless everybody did so. But as soon as the Internet was devised, it was apparent that a global digital identity system would be next . To show the point, I've had a digital id since 2008, not by choice, just a matter of fact for research scientists that, if they wish to access supercomputers around the world, they needed a global login. Hence universities have created a digital global identity system for themselves, the same system, backed by the idea of digital signatures has been used as the basis for the new ID systems.
The need for an ID system has emerged simultaneously in many areas of life, including migration, tax, pensions, education, health systems, dental and other treatment records, banks, economics and deals, x ray history, travel, vaccine reports, ebay, google docs ,email ….driving etc.
Anyway, there is no conspiracy, it is merely an emergent requirement to have a reliable ID system. It so happens that a health emergency offers good political reason to allow such a system to be founded. The vax pass system was the perfect vehicle for this process to take place. Right, so that's why it looks exactly like a conspiracy but is actually just normal technology progress, like setting the international AC voltage stand at 240v. I can see how one could argue otherwise, but it makes no odds. We are now stuck with the digital identity system, it is not going to fade away, face masks might go, but digital id is permanent.
So call it a Boris ID, since you'll use it when you rent a Boris Bike. And that's how it is. This is the brave new world.
