Travel Firms Charging up to £150 for ‘Cheaper’ Lateral Flow Tests

by Michael Curzon
22 October 2021 1:46 PM

PCR Covid tests for travel have been scrapped but holidaymakers still face extortionate bills for travel testing, with some providers asking for up to 20 times the price of lateral flow tests in Europe. The Telegraph has the story.

The Government is due to launch a new “bespoke” list of lateral flow test providers… with fully jabbed travellers able to book their swabs ready for their return next week.

However, analysis by the Telegraph of the current firms on the official list that already offer lateral flow swabs show they are charging up to 20 times the price of tests available in Europe.

The Government’s switch from the more expensive PCR tests to cheaper lateral flow swabs for returning travellers is designed to give foreign travel a boost by saving families hundreds of pounds.

But the analysis of existing providers reveals the costs range from £17.99 – offered by 001 Expert Covid Testing U.K. – to £150 by the Private GP Clinic in Sevenoaks, Kent.

At least half a dozen are pitched at £100 or more, although the costs were inflated by offering a bespoke on-site testing service rather than the “click and collect at home” tests the Government has allowed.

A significant number were also priced at £50 or more, compared with all the major European destinations offering lateral flow tests at €30 or less (£25.32). Even the cheapest failed to disclose in their headline price advertised on Gov.uk that packaging and posting will add £10 to the cost.

From Monday, any fully jabbed holidaymaker will be able to use lateral flow tests on their return to the U.K. If they test positive, they can get a free PCR test on the NHS to check their result.

PCR tests have averaged around £70, with the most expensive at £300. It is understood the “bespoke” list for lateral flow tests will include 25 firms specifically authorised to provide them.

Worth reading in full.

Thereby proving the capitalist claim: Whenever government mandates that the people must do something, the prices go out the roof.

When you adjust the numbers to remove outliers that can skew the data, it appears the number of COVID deaths in 13 countries is 11.61 times higher after the rollout of the jabs, compared to before vaccination began. Are COVID jabs responsible for these excess deaths?

Do they just totally ignore the actual immunity that catching COVID gets over the clot shots?

Yes, because it’s a passport that demonstrates obedience, not immunity.

cheaper to stay un-jabbed and have a £43 PCR tests from randox (although got to have more of them for punishment)

Much safer to stay forever unjabbed. Best also to give up air and all foreign travel for the foreseeable future. The Covid scam is essentially about massive depopulation and the bioweapons now being passed off as vaccines are its essential centrepiece.

It’s the same decades old scam whereby only one or two local shops are designated official suppliers of a schools uniform.

Not only that, the outrageous pricing scandal was supposed to have been sorted out by ministers months ago and many of the officially sanctioned test suppliers have been proven not fit for purpose.

My neighbour tells me that Boots Chemist (more or less a supermarket in the pharmacy world) were offering free testing kits a while ago. Dunno if they still are or of what type.

We had to have a LFT when we visit MiL in her care home. The first time a nurse did it, the last time a carer did the mouth and let us do our own noses. Both negative but we had to wait 20 minutes for the results. They’ve now given us a box LFTs to do ourself before arriving at the home to save time. We feel we have no option if we want to visit her and frankly I don’t know how much longer she can last, she is 98 and frankly didn’t think she’d still be here!!

Just when I was about to depart from hospital after an unexpected Saturday overnight stay a nurse told me that someone in the, 6 person, ward had tested positive and that therefore when I got home (by taxi arranged by them!) I would have to self isolate for 10(?) days.

Made no difference to me since my medical condition meant that I rarely ventured outdoors anyway.
Others though were on their phones rearranging work, social and childcare commitments.

24 hours later I was telephoned by the ward to say that further tests had found the man to be negative. I was told here at LS a reader that such further tests are routine but it was the only time I have witnessed how much false results inconvenienced other people.

I regularly attend a lifestyle venue that requires double jab or recent LFT on gov site. I have a box of the free lft and just tell .gov I’m negative.

The actual cost of a self-administered lateral flow test is more like £1.50. Of course, if the testing had anything to do with public health, the results of such tests (which in case of lack of trust, could be performed on site – any site) would also be accepted.

https://www.quantamagazine.org/science-has-entered-a-new-era-of-alchemy-good-20211020/

However, we should never forget the hard-won cautionary lessons of history. Alchemy was not only a proto-science, but also a “hyper-science” that overpromised and underdelivered. Astrological predictions were taken so seriously that life had to adapt to theory, instead of the other way around. Unfortunately, modern society is not free from such magical thinking, putting too much confidence in omnipotent algorithms, without critically questioning their logical or ethical basis.

And for a thousand years, the preferred medical treatment for pretty well everything was bleeding. Healthy people got themselves bled regularly as well, just to keep safe.
It would have been so much worse without the bleeding. Ask John Keats, for one.

Sorry this is a bit off-topic, but a group of MEPs gave a press conference this week opposing the abusive use of the so-called Covid Green Pass (a document supposedly intended for travel) across the EU but which is now even being imposed by the European Parliament’s political leadership and non-elected senior officials upon MEPs and their staff, who will otherwise be prevented from exercising their democratic mandate. The Romanian MEP who chaired the meeting has previously compared the authoritarian Covid-related measures currently being introduced in European Union to the repression he observed as a child in communist Romania.

Let’s hope that some sort of fightback has begun.

Please like the video and pass on as appropriate.

Good for him and no doubt MEPs will fight tooth and nail to prevent such regulations applying to themselves and their essential support staff. Probably trading their rights for those of ordinary EU citizens.

True about the majority of them for sure, but these particular MEPs (and some others) are clearly and vocally standing up for EU citizens as well. Funnily enough, the MEPs who are most committed to fundamental rights and freedom and resisting totalitarianism are the ones from the supposed ‘far left’ and ‘far right’ political groups.

This is my COVID test, not yet patented but soon to be.

Take your index finger (left or right hand, it doesn’t really matter) then guide it into one of your 2 available nasal passages (left or right, it’s up to you).
Upon entry to said nasal passage(s) wiggle your finger until you feel something sticky and mucousy begin to attach to said finger.

At this moment retract your finger slowly but surely from nasal passage. Once fully free inspect finger. You should see something like a bogey. If not then repeat the first step until you do.

Upon succesful completion of step 1 take a magnifying glass and have a good long hard look at the bogey-like glob on the tip of your finger (glasses advisable if eye-sight not perfect).

Do you see any spike proteins waving back at you?

If the answer is yes then you need to self-isolate and lock down the country where you live.

If the answer is no, then go mingle and party like it’s 1999.

Remember to repeat this procedure at least every 6 months.

The best thing about this test is it’s absolutely free. My gift to the world, if you like.

Whatever any of us may think about the science behind requiring tests, none. Sadly to travel to some other countries they are needed.
LFT is €15 in Italian pharmacies with result linked to Green pass. What a surprise that the U.K. consumer is being ripped off again. Would love to know whether there are any backhanders to TPTB.

All tests are medically useless as performed.
All invasive tests are illegal and infringe upon ones inalienable right of bodily autonomy under common law.
