Rachel Reeves has been sacked as Chancellor and David Lammy as justice secretary and deputy prime minister as Andy Burnham wields the axe ahead of making his new Cabinet appointments. The Telegraph has more.
Reeves said in a statement: “It has been the privilege of my life to serve as the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The economy today is stronger, fairer and more resilient because of the choices we have taken as a Labour Government over the past two years.
“Stability restored, investment delivered and reform to our economy under way. I said when I was appointed Chancellor that I would judge my time in office if the lives ordinary working class people have been improved. I’m proud to say that they have.
“And to every young woman and girl let my time in office show there should be no ceilings on your ambitions, your hopes or your dreams.
“I wish the very best of luck to my successor, Andy and his Cabinet. You have my full support, and I will continue to play my part in helping this Labour Government deliver the change the country needs.” …
David Lammy has been sacked by Andy Burnham as justice secretary and deputy prime minister.
In a post on X, Lammy said that he was “immensely proud of what we achieved, in Opposition and in Government”.
However, Sir Keir Starmer’s deputy went on to state that he would not be serving under Burnham, who succeeded Sir Keir earlier today.
Lammy said: “I would have been proud to continue serving in Cabinet. But a new Prime Minister is entitled to build his own team, and I wish Andy Burnham and the new Cabinet every success.
“I will continue to serve the great people of Tottenham, support this Labour Government from the backbenches and do everything I can to help defeat Reform again at the next General Election.”

Looking at that photo I am tempted to feel sorry for Reeves.
Then I remember how cruel and vindictive she is in her dealings with opposing politicians, her lies and forged CV and her destruction of the economy through spite and blind, wilful stupidity.
She is such a liar.

It will make very little difference to me. Notice, he didn’t for for the sources of expensive electricity, as that would have upset his wife.

Seeing that photo of her blubbing always brings a smile to my face.
Rachel was offered the job of tea lady but she turned it down.
She’s just updating her CV saying she was prime minister.
So the replacements are just going to the same stuff, in a different body??
If Milibrain becomes Chancellor it won’t be long before people are begging for the return of useless Rachel from accounts.

I believe Musk’s behaviour is a similar example. “Fake it till you make it.” Perhaps Musk succeeded, time will tell…
You were doing well until you mentioned the serial entrepreneur Elon Musk. He began with Zip2 before he started X which then merged with Paypal and gave him the big payday when eBay bought it. That gave him enough money to take over Tesla and start SpaceX, both of which nearly bankrupted him. Then came numerous other companies, notoriously OpenAI.
Why “notoriously”? Musk wanted ChatGPT to be open source and not controlled by big corporations (like MSFT who pretty much control it now).
Musk may have some grifting tendencies but he’s surely a lot smarter than Reeves. Maybe not as smart as he thinks he is, or other people think he is, but he’s pretty bright. I’d have him on my team, minus the ego.
I have got a couple of bits of wood that are smarter than Reeves and of far more use too.

The Dropout podcast is pretty good too….
They are both fantasists. Reeves made the economy even worse while Lammy’s contributions were bad where they were noticeable and laughable the rest of the time. I wonder what the market for chief economists and comedians is like at the moment as these two might need to start job hunting.
Reeves supposedly has a net worth of £5 million. A moderately expensive poilti-prostitute. An ugly and not bright one too.
Interesting choice of words there by Lammy: “I will continue to serve the great people of Tottenham, support this Labour Government from the backbenches and do everything I can to help defeat Reform again at the next General Election.” [My italics.]
Not suggesting that he’ll be working for a Labour victory then, or even ‘to beat the Tories’. A party withn only seven MPs is still making the political weather.
