Do miracles really still occur today, in our modern, post-biblical era world? According to leading Republican Senator Marco Rubio, they do. Following Donald Trump’s incredibly close shave with death, when a sniper’s bullet came within a centimetre or two of blowing his brains out, Rubio declared on X that Trump had been saved by God:

Was the Senator just speaking metaphorically? Probably not. Here’s another, more explicitly literal-minded tweet, from Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative political commentator in the U.S.:

Former PresidentTrump was saved fatal or more serious injury when he suddenly turned his head towards a big graphic showing the growing level of illegal immigration under the Biden regime.
One could say therefore it was illegal immigration that saved our Donald.
It might also be said that Donald Trump was saved because of his bravery in pointing out the sin of illegal immigration.
That’s true but the sin had to come first.
It would be a particularly nasty god that saved Donald Trump but let the bullets shoot into other people, one of whom died.
a consequentialist God, rather than a deontological one (cf. the trolley problem)
To refer to God, or a god, as “a particularly nasty god” is anthropomorphic.
Well he is referred to as a loving God, also a vengeful God – but if a contradiction there – and a forgiving God.
So anthropomorphology is a thing.
I’m going with luck and physics. Long may he retain his James Bond-like ability to dodge bullets. The Crooks gunman also had bombs in his car, but did he really think he was going to get out of there alive? This is also interesting;
”BREAKING: WHO KNEW THE HIT WAS COMING:
$DJT SHORTS SKYROCKETED THE WEEK BEFORE THE HIT.
FOLLOW THE SHORTS: $DJT shorts went from 7M to 15M from July 1 -July 12.
They thought Monday morning Trump would be dead.
Who shorted Millions of shares the week before the HIT JOB?”

More confirmation something suss is going on. Why the huge, timely increase?;
”Can someone please explain to me the extreme disparity between trade Volume and the Day High for Trump’s stock #DJT for Thursday, July 11th and Friday, July 12th (the day before the assassination attempt).
This is directly from TMTG Corp. Look.
Thursday Volume: 3,956,160
Friday Volume: 35,643,508
Thursday Day High: $30.31
Friday Day High: $15,638.32!!!!
That Friday High has to be a mistake right?
Even it is, the extreme swing in volume should definitely warrant further investigation. That is an 801% increase in one day. The day before the attempt on Trumps life.”

If he had succeeded… set off bomb for distraction and add to the confusion to cover his escape.
Did he think he would get out of there alive? Well he certainly had no difficultly getting in there carrying a range-finder and moving around, then going out and returning with a rifle and possibly a ladder. He succeeded in getting onto the roof of a building with armed police in it, oand taking up position despite being seen by members of the public and police officers.
Getting out alive seems not an unreasonable thought.
I reckon he could have walked in with a ghetto blaster blaring, wearing a fluorescent T-shirt and he still wouldn’t have been apprehended. I think expecting to get out alive is not realistic though because surely he expected to get taken out by the snipers as soon as he opened fire and revealed ( ha ha ) his location. Plus, the SS, FBI etc wouldn’t want him to be caught alive, interrogated and stand trial because then sensitive information would get out about how he came to be there in the first place and the entire state of the corruption would be revealed to the public.
A lot of people saying the IEDs discovered in his car were planted.
Cheatle’s direct superior is Alejandro Mayorkas ( Secretary of Homeland Security ), but we’re not hearing a great deal about him. Also, the Secret Service is a component agency of the Dept of Homeland Security. This is the DHS which has just put the kibosh on the congressional investigation into the complete shambles that happened on Saturday. Not sure what will come of this but I can imagine there’ll be a lot of dodginess, people being told what to say, destroying/planting evidence, limited hangouts, the usual thing we’ve come to expect from a cover-up job.
I really want a reporter to ask Cheatle on camera if there was a second shooter and see how she answers. I feel we need more evidence from this particular angle, because unless more details surface independently then I can see this line of enquiry being memory-holed. There seems to be an awful lot of footage and witness statements about the Crooks guy but the water tower guy is like The Invisible Man. Does he exist at all?

Yup, and that roof, according to SS Head Cheatle, was too steep for her people to be stationed on ( Health and Safety issues, you know). But Wonder Kid Crooks managed it without too much difficulty. A four year old child could have walked it without sliding to its demise.
The issue was that ‘armed police were in it‘ and not ‘on it‘.
The failure was planned, but the plan failed?
It could be a “no-atheists-in-the-foxholes” kind of comment. (I once was lost but now I’m found, etc.) I’m sure he’ll elaborate in his GOP acceptance speech.
It depends what you mean by “God” in whatever circumstances.
If God has the powers attributed to him/her then I am sure the contents of the soul of both Trump and Biden will have been weighed and despite all the earthly offences that Trump committed, the scales still didn’t come down on Biden’s side.
No.
Is there any evidence of motive yet? If not then Trump may have been accidentally hit or shot at because he just happened to be there or the one death was the target. Either way, it didn’t take long for it to be leveraged in the recurring Democrat ban-AR-style-weapons theme.
His motive was – he wanted to kill Trump. Just a hunch.
Otherwise if he were indifferent to his victims, he could have fired a volley indiscriminately into the crowd and Trump wouldn’t have been in the line of fire.
I was hoping for more than “Just a hunch”. Any indiscriminate shooting could put Trump as much in the line of fire as anyone else. It obviously looks like Trump was the target but unfortunately the shooter is dead so we may never know what his motives were or what he was actually aiming at.
I prefer the Occam’s razor solution to ‘Did God save Trump?’ Answer ‘No’. The Crooks kid was just a crap shot who’d been blackballed by his school gun club for no ability.
Did God save Trump?
Given God is primarily in the business of saving souls and not lives, it would therefore depend on whether Trump is going to have a major impact in that regard.
Of course God also cares about lives, but this is via his more general and overall intervention which means lives can always be rebooted with memory and power. If your soul is saved into God’s good memory of you, given your response and preference over good or evil, then you will certainly be rebooted to new life at the end of the age.
God’s interventions seem to be about establishing the basis for getting into God’s good memory in the first place, and then also retaining at least some witness within the world which will make sense of it all for those seeking assurance. Peoples and individuals will therefore be intervened upon on this basis, but not over their response or preference for good or evil, that is up to them.
If Woke is in real danger of completely putting the lights outs of this witness (and I would say it is, amongst a whole load of other freedoms), and Trump is going to be a key player in stemming that tide, finally someone who is willing and in the right position to make a difference, then maybe God did save him but that does not make him a saint. God intervened with Pharaoh to let the Israelites go, but Pharaoh remained a real shit; God uses sinners as well, but no one against their will.
The question is redundant when talking about the divine. Every millisecond that you are alive is only by the grace of God. You would rapidly decompose without that energy. Ast it says in the good book, even the hairs on your head are numbered. This is reiterated in the Koran. Evreything that happens is by God’s grace. To think otherwise is to entirely misunderstand the nature of reality. Leibniz was right when he talked about our world being the best of all possible worlds.
Misunderstood the nature of reality?. You seem to have forgotten freewill, both for the physical world in life force adaption and the conservation of energy, and for the spiritual world in moral choice and responsibility. We would only decompose at the normal rate under the 2nd law. The creation also has its freedom. You have also conflated a number of distinctions which should continue to be made. Evil is not done by God’s grace or according to God’s will. Our world is certainly not currently the best of all possible worlds otherwise we would not be in imminent danger of entering a new dark age with a massive loss of freedoms and opportunity to speak, grow and flourish under Woke. Neither would there have been an assassination attempt on Trump, nor would Biden be trying to be re-elected when its clear he is too old and frail. It is still however a world fit for purpose in seeing if freewill creatures are interested in life on God’s terms, that is goodness (which will end up being the best possible world), by also experiencing and ultimately rejecting what the alternative is, evil. Which will you choose; God as God or yourself?
Let us pray. Trans women. Amen.
Make no mistake. God sent President Trump to save the Western world
So why did Trump unleash warp speed on us all?
Perhaps God could have changed the shooters mind or had a bus run him over and then that family would not have lost a father and the other 2 seriously injured would have been unharmed.
The whole God thing is Illogical nonsense so we can expect this sort of “thinking “.
Hi Peter
Perhaps given God’s purpose in creation he is not in a position to mess with freewill (i.e. freewill means a will given certain freedoms from his).
There are many illogical nonsense God hypothesis, including that implied in your own strawman; try steel manning it.
What however you need to realise is that in the end, due to the problems with infinite regression and the basic truth of ex nihilo nihil fit in both the physical and moral realms, for a world view not to be illogical nonsense it needs to have a self-existent foundation.
There are two basic options for this foundation.
1. A God hypothesis, but this can’t be just any old one it needs to be one which is plausibly self-existent, i.e it must also have the wear withal to know itself exists, without reference to anything else, because existence means the knowledge of existence, sensing it by something else. In a Trinitarian structure we can see it having the same effect as our own tripartite structure by which we sense our own existence.
2. A natural hypothesis; but the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics are very strong evidence against a natural self-existence – we would be at heat death already if energy/matter had always been here! So the natural one is looking like illogical nonsense.
So it needs harder thinking all around!
Thanks for your word salad!
I don’t believe in a god or gods so I was simply suggesting that if such a thing existed, in the way many think it does, then it would have freewill. If you thought my comment was some deliberate strawman then you were wrong. It gave you a chance, though, to write your convoluted word salad/thinking.
I assume that God knows what He is doing and no-one else does, whatever they may claim to the contrary, e.g. why he saved Hitler from the attempt on his life. A miracle is just a rare event for which we have no explanation so far.
This is really all about the question – why do people have to die? Why can’t we be immortal?
We all die at some point, from whatever cause.
