The Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson has painted a bleak prospect for Britain’s future if Labour wins the next election, which he believes is “highly likely”, in an interview published in the Telegraph.
In his view, a Labour win would be “catastrophic”. Speaking from Toronto, Dr. Peterson said:
You guys, you elect a Labour Government, you’re gonna be Venezuela for 20 years.
I’m terrified it would be a catastrophe if the U.K. voted [in] a Labour Government. You’re gonna be in for rough waters if you were foolish enough to do that. But yeah, it’s highly likely.
He’s less forthcoming on his reasons for that gloomy prediction, but it’s not too hard to see why he feels that way.
Peterson has no more time for his own Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, describing how there is
endless multiplication of impulsive diversity… and there’s no limit to how much fragmentation that will produce. … A culture that thinks that diversity is unity is also a culture that thinks that a man can be a woman. You can’t get more confused than that.
He admires Margaret Thatcher for having a clear purpose and vision, having disapproved of her when he was a young socialist. And he does have some optimism:
Human beings can let their stupid ideas die instead of them. And because we can learn and transform, we’re not restricted by environmental constraints the same way that other creatures are, we can always make more with less.
Peterson’s mantra is that we should live by cooperation and competition, and take responsibility for ourselves (adding that the education system fails to encourage young people to do just that):
If you’re looking for meaning in your life, take on responsibility. There’s no difference between voluntary responsibility and meaning. They’re the same thing. And boy, that’s a secret worth knowing.
He has little time for the fatalism of environmentalism:
There’s no starvation in the world [now], except for political reasons. [There is] plenty to go around.
We have hurricanes. That’s a natural disaster. But what if you prepare? What are the preconditions for preparation? And the answer to that is well, subsidiary social organisation, or distributed responsibilities. That also makes the system very resilient. So part of the subsidiary vision is that decision-making should be passed down the hierarchy to the most proximal possible level.
However, it turns out though that the piece is a plug for the forthcoming online Peterson Academy which will teach people properly, or so the claim is. And he isn’t worried about formal accreditation for the courses:
All sorts of corporations are already stating publicly that they no longer regard a university degree as a stamp of accreditation. So why the hell would I pursue that?
As ever, worth reading in full.

“You guys, you elect a Labour Government, you’re gonna be Venezuela for 20 years.”
I’d say worse than Venezuela; at least that example of a banana republic actually does have some bananas.
There is no difference between a Labour and Conservative banana. They are all bananas from the same place just in a different wrapper.
“I’m terrified it would be a catastrophe if the U.K. voted [in] a
LabourGovernment”Corrected.
Well the Tories are not really Tories so perhaps our only hope is that Labour are not really Labour
Man’s got a point. Because Canada is so huge it should be a while before they reach peak ‘cultural enrichment’;
”Following a year of record immigration into Canada and amid reports of nearly 2 million of its citizens relying on food banks, the Canadian government has announced plans to accept refugees from Gaza.
Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced on Thursday that Justin Trudeau’s administration is preparing to fly in extended families of Canadians in war-torn Gaza on temporary three-year visas from Jan. 9.
At a news conference, he explained that those who are a “spouse, common-law partner, child regardless of age, grandchild, sibling, parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident” will be eligible to come to Canada, “as well as their immediate family members”.
However, he also said the Canadian government would “remain flexible so that we can meet the needs of people we are supporting” and that the definition could be “expanded” to “allow us a greater set of people that may not be permanent residents or Canadians but for all intents and purposes represent the family of people that are close to Canadians”.
The move comes at a time when Canadians are growing increasingly more concerned about the impact that Islam is having on Canadian society.
New research published this week by the Angus Reid Institute showed that the number of Canadians who believe the religion is damaging society and public life in Canada has soared from 29 percent to 43 percent in a year.
Just 13 percent say that the growing presence of Islam in Canada is beneficial to society, down from 18 percent in 2022.”

I am really, really looking forward to the day when an MP, civil servant, member of the H of L or some other creep who has sold their soul gets the reward they deserve and loses their head to one of these immigrants.
Let’s not forget….
Diversity is our Strength.
A couple of MPs have already been attacked – Stephen Timms (Labour) and Sir David Amess.
Made no difference. I suspect the only thing that might make a difference is if a Senior Royal was attacked …. not that I want that to happen to any of them (or anyone else, come to that).
I always wondered if something would change if the Queen was attacked. I am still wondering.
Not sure I agree with Petersen’s assessment. It doesn’t matter which set of treasonous barstewards we put in they are all going to be just lackeys of the Davos Deviants. The destruction of the UK is a done deal.
Salvation will not arrive via the ballot box.
We are on our own.
Quite right, we used to have some form of self determination through the ballot box, albeit slight, now we have nothing at all. Plato indicated that politicians lie. We now have every facet of society control, government, media, health education etc all distorting the truth to a point where no thinking person believes a word they say anymore.
Yes, we are on our own, but that is exactly where they want us, divided.
There is no culture that thinks that. Working class people don’t talk this way. Even middle class people recognise that this discourse is all well and good when confined within a university seminar but comletely inappropriate for everyday life or political discourse. People who harp on about this stuff are either trying to distract or deflect or hide. Because for one thing it isn’t difficult to see that ther are much greater issues to be concerned about
It is not merely academic when children are being mutilated, teachers are being sacked etc. etc.
We all know and he should certainly know that in times of end of empire a fascination with adrogyny and trasgenderism occurs. An American academic from Texas, I forget her name has written extensively on this. And it isn’t difficult to understand when you understand the times that we are living in. This isn’t going to decrease or disappear although it might be supplanted by an even more morbid syndrome. I would put money on that given the spiritual tragectory of our time.
But I thought schoolchildren could really be hedgehogs (identify as such) and demand lettuce. Have I been misled? Is it not true?
