On Substack, Eugyppius picks through the rubble of President Zelensky’s recent disastrous meeting with Trump in the Oval Office. Here’s how his piece begins:
Since 2022, the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been running about the globe in his weird focus-grouped jumpers and combat boots, lecturing all of our parliaments on the unity and mutual interests of Europe, the goodness of democracy, the genocidal evils of Vladimir Putin and the importance of ever more weapons deliveries to his country’s armed forces. In the process, he has become one of the more obnoxious political phenomena in recent memory, and I hope I would be able to see this even if I were firmly convinced that German interests aligned perfectly with Ukrainian interests and that we should do nothing but give the AFU all of our tanks and all of our Taurus missiles and possibly even all of our soldiers to defend our shiny wonderful and deeply liberal European democracy, where we are so free that riot police will bash your head in for protesting Covid restrictions and if you call the wrong cabinet minister a moron the speech crimes battalion will raid your house.
Here in Europe, our political leaders have treated the shouting, remonstrating Zelensky with nothing but egregious reverence, and the man has grown accustomed to his noxious political celebrity. Nothing else can explain the amazing press conference Zelensky and Trump held yesterday, ahead of afternoon plans to sign an agreement concerning Ukraine’s rare-earth minerals. We got to witness nothing less than the near-total meltdown of American and Ukrainian relations, live and in colour. Historians of the Ukraine war will be writing about this press conference for years and decades to come.
The meeting almost didn’t happen at all. Zelensky has been publicly irritated that Trump reversed the American policy of isolating Russia, after the American president opened talks with Vladimir Putin to end the war. Two weeks ago, Trump suggested that Ukraine was at fault for the hostilities, Zelensky said Trump was “living in a [Russian] disinformation space,” and Trump said Zelensky was “a dictator without elections.” Trump’s administration initially planned to cancel Zelensky’s visit to Washington this week, but French President Emmanuel Macron persuaded the Americans to go ahead with it. Imagine how much the man regrets that now. After receiving his verbal beat-down in the Oval Office, Zelensky and the rest of the Ukrainian delegation decamped to the Roosevelt Room, while Trump and his advisers decided that the President of Ukraine “was in no position to negotiate.” White House officials told them to leave before they could even eat lunch.
Foreign relations are typically pounded out in back rooms, out of sight, and that was also the intent here. Somewhere in the midst of the journalists’ questions and Trump’s banter, however, yesterday’s event ceased being a press conference and became at first a subtle unacknowledged negotiation and then a hostile disagreement – one which Zelensky got the worst of.
Only the final four minutes of the Trump-Zelensky meeting are really making the rounds, but the whole encounter is worth studying, because a sensitive reading shows what went wrong – in particular what annoyed our American heads of state, and how Zelensky screwed up so badly. I hope you’ll join me in picking through this debacle in all of its details, from the seemingly mundane opening statements all the way through to the end. We’ve never seen anything like this before.
Worth reading in full.

Profanity and abuse will be removed and may lead to a permanent ban.
I’ll repeat what I stated earlier on the newscycle feed..
During an appearance on the Laura Coates show on CNN, Jennings said that all Zelensky had to do was be polite, grateful and pleasant. He says that this was a test and that Zelensky failed it. Jennings said:
(Sincere apologies to the DS for using a source that isn’t the DT, Spectator or Times …)
I’ll offend further by quoting NBC, which reports that Rubio had received assurances that Zelensky was ready to sign and that he, Rubio, had told Trump this.
Two folders containing the agreement were prepared ready for joint signature in front of the media, followed by brief speeches by each from the podia, then lunch.
But as the meeting unfolded, to his embarrassment, Rubio realised he’d been played and Trump and Vance were taken by surprise. Zelensky wanted to argue the security guarantees in front of the media.
As Trump said, it made great television, but didn’t work out well for the romper-suited one.
Indeed the New York Post is reporting that Zelensky met with Democrats hours before the Oval Office debacle, who urged him to reject the mineral deal, in an attempt to sabotage Trump’s attempt at peacemaking.
(Apologies to the DS for quoting yet another unapproved source…)
Ho ho ho, the idiot Bidenistas and Obamamorons screwed the pooch again. They really have a death wish.
The British people are already footing the bill for the vainglorious aspirations of its warmongering UK governments. Three billion pounds a year in military assistance is being sent to Ukraine even before “official” British boots are on the ground. (Many UK military personnel are already there as “advisors”)
And the increase in military spending projected by Starmer over the next decade cannot possibly be funded without massive cuts to public services and other state investments. That is the least the bond market would demand for continuing to purchase government debt.
The British people are funding the Ukrainian Banderites, neoNazis, paramilitaries and ultranationalists at the expense of its own taxpayers, pensioners and the vulnerable when, if the facts were known, Russia were totally “justified” in the actions they have taken against Ukraine.
Marc Rubio refused to name the Far Left European foreign minister who said that the plan was to fund the war for another at which point the Russians would be begging for peace with a bombed out economy and massive losses at the front. Sounds a lot like the idiot cLammy but whoever said it is just as utterly clueless about what is going on. Less than a year from now there will not be any Ukrainians left fighting. Come the end of the Rasputiza I wonder if this will be the point that Russia abandons the meat grinder slowly slowly advance and pushes on fast to the borders of the People’s Republics.
That was my first thought, too: Lammy the Lummox.
I’m not sure Russia is that interested in west Ukraine as they have little support there.
They will probably go as far as the Dnieper River and create referendums in each oblast.
They will only cross it in the south and create a land bridge through Odessa to Transnistria.
They will sign an agreement that West Ukraine remains neutral, demilitarised and deNazified.
We shall see.
In plain English, this means Putin is willing to let some semblance of a Ukrainian state continue to exist provided it’s not actually independent as he wants to have the final say over its domestic politics.
I think that Putin would like to create a state like Belarus, with a puppet yesman in charge. He could then withdraw and claim he is no longer interested. Whether the Ukrainian people would accept that is another matter, given that 80% of them hate the Russians.
The majority of Ukrainians supported Russia prior to the US coup of 2014.

All you need to do is look at the 2010 Presidential elections.
Well you missed a trick with that graphic, didn’t you?
“The east and south welcome their liberation by … Russia”. That’s some neutral reporting!
It proves beyond reasonable doubt that Glasshalfempty is a Putin useless idiot.
I wouldn’t report this to the boss if I were you, or you might have a meeting with a 10th story window, so inept are you.
Three years of war and millions of deaths have probably eroded that support.
Those living in the east and south of Ukraine know the war was caused by the Ukrainian Banderites, neoNazis, paramilitaries and ultranationalists and followed through by corrupt Ukrainian Presidents and politicians since 2014.
It is likely the support for Russia in east and south Ukraine has increased.
Russia has no designs on west Ukraine where they have little support.
Russia was quite willing for Ukraine to be “independent” from 1991 to 2014.
The US ploughed millions of dollars into Ukraine from 1991 onwards which culminated in the US led coup of 2014.
Russia are no different to any other powerful country to take exception to hostile forces taking over a neighbour which threatens its own existence.
Russia was quite willing for Ukraine to be “independent” from 1991 to 2014. The US ploughed millions of dollars into Ukraine from 1991 onwards which culminated in the US led coup of 2014.
Well, so what? If Putin had ever been willing to regard Ukraine as an independent country instead of as a Russian satellite he had a right to control, its domestic politics would have been none of his business, regardless of what they actually were. Had independent Ukrainians chosen to erect giant golden statues of Adolf Hitler and pray to them in quarterly celebrations, this had been entirely their business for as long as they remained peacefully within their borders. That’s what independent country means.
When domestic policies lean towards joining the aggressive Nato and when jumped up Nazis persecute, shell and kill the ethnic Russians in east Ukraine then it is entirely Russia’s business.
What other country in the world would have allowed that on their doorstep without consequences?
NATO is a defensive organisation, not an aggressive one. Only a Putin stooge would argue otherwise. So far as Putin is concerned, you’re not a useful idiot, you’re feckin useless!
I’ve been on this site since its inception as Lockdown Sceptic.
You are probably the biggest clown we’ve ever had.
Keep it up.
You are hilarious.
Keep laughing while you plummet from that 10th storey window. It’ll give you something to do before you hit the ground.
Agreed
Hear, hear.
Nato bombing of Belgrade, a European capital.
NATO a defensive organisation.
Love the satire.
It’s only Russia’s business if the Russian government is convinced that Ukraine isn’t an independent state or at least absolutely shouldn’t be one. Which was the whole point I was trying to make.
And how is Russia’s response to a threat on their border different to any other country?
Speculative question whose answer is besides the point.
Because you know what the answer is.
Imagine the response by the US if a hostile bloc sent weapons to a neighbouring country to the US and sent politicians to insight insurrection.
The US would bomb them to oblivion and install a puppet government friendly to the US as they have done in many other countries throughout the years.
No, because I’m not engaging into the ‘discussion’ you want to draw me into. I’ve made a simple point — at no point in time has the Russian government actually regarded Ukraine as independent state, this being based on the Russian government being obviously convinced that it had and has a legitmate say over Ukrainian domestic polictics, and that’s it.
I won’t give you a thumbs down but point out a factual error.
Russia lived side by side with its Slavic brothers and sisters in Ukraine for many, many years.
From 1991 to 2014 Russia regarded Ukraine as an “independent” state.
The 1994 Budapest Memorandum confirms this until Ukraine reneged on the agreement in 2014.
RW needs to do a lot more reading.
This statement makes absolutely no sense here.
Dictated by Putin. Obviously.
Now demonstrated to be a Putin lickspittle. Hope those roubles see you through your coming recession.
Keep paying your 5GBP per month so we can keep laughing at you.
It is hilarious.
What’s 5GBP in Roubles (obviously no £ symbol on your keyboard, is there?) About 5,000 by now,I should imagine. It is your ineptitude as a Putin lackey that keeps us all laughing!
£££££££££££££££££££££
I debate with people all over the world some of whom don’t have the sterling symbol so I use GBP instead.
When you grow up I would be happy to educate you in geopolitics.
I have been well read on modern history and current world affairs for the past 45 years.
I find some Western geopolitical analysts, some of the current Russian media and independent Western alternative media are more trustworthy than the Western main stream media.
Consequently, having been well informed on the situation in Ukraine, I find Russia were deliberately “provoked” by the US, EU and Nato and I support their actions against Ukraine which are more legal and more “justified” than the US/Nato similar actions against Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria etc. etc. etc.
Sheriff and Deputy playing poker with an Actor and Comedian from the East.
Trouble is the serious compulsive gambling with lives has been taking place thousands of miles away in wheat and mineral country, where neighbours speak in rival tongues and rival gangs have been settling old scores for centuries.
Back East in liddle old Eurp, dudes brandishing popguns and personal pronouns prance around making a load of noise signifying nothing. Hard to envisage Sir Two-Tier, Corporal Micron or the next Gauleiter of Lesser Germany doing serious law-enforcement in serious sheriff’s outfits.
Even further back East, Vlad the Intractable looks on impassively, unmoved by the body count from the latest score-settling in wheat, blood and bonemeal country.
Where’s Clint Eastwood when you need him, battling on Any Which Way You Can?
This sh*t’s about to get serious.
”Europe is ready to fight Russia… the walls are closing in on Putin…”

Vlad will be quaking in his swamp boots…
A farce in how many acts, including bedrooms and dropped pants?
I’m sure you Putin useless idiots will leap to his defence.
Despite you reading my posts under the other article which categorically state that I support neither dictator you still maintain I’m some sort of closet Putin fan. Now what can I deduce from this abnormal behaviour…?
What’s a word to describe somebody who is in possession of information but chooses to ignore it in order to push their agenda and broadcast the fact they’re an obsessive troll incapable of rational debate?

Why, denialist, of course! You are evidently a fanatical and blinkered person engaging in denialism.
Anyhoo, keep trolling and displaying your true colours loud and clear. Adios raro
Well a paid Putin writer would say that, wouldn’t he?
As for ignoring information, perhaps you have forgotten that it’s your boss Putin who invaded Ukraine. Not the other way round.
“What’s a word to describe somebody who is in possession of information but chooses to ignore it in order to push their agenda and broadcast the fact they’re an obsessive troll incapable of rational debate?”
Except you’re not. You are paid by Putin.
That’s multicultural strength through diversity for you. 35 languages I believe, since Ukraine has never been an actual Country with an actual national identity or demos as it passed through numerous hands over the centuries, it is a collection of cultures and ethnic origins.
There used to be a kingdom of Ruthenia which got ultimately annexed by Poland. It remained under Polish control until the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was divided by Prussia, Russia and Austria. Parts of Ukraine became the Austrian province of Galizien where Ukrainians – called Ruthenes – were a recognized ethnic group, the other parts went to Russia. They remained under Russian control until 1918 when Ukraine declared itself independent until reconquered by Russian Bolshevists after the Entente powers had annulled the German peace treaties in the east. Ukraine became independent for a second time during the German war in the east in the 1940s but ended up – ha ha ha – under Bolshevist control again because the former Entente powers handed all of Europe eastwards of the former eastern border of West Germany to Stalin because they were so madly in love with him. Ukraine became independent for a 3rd time in the 1990s and exchanged the nuclear rockets on its territory for territorial guarantees given by Russia. It’s now in the process of being again devoured by Russia because the former western allies aka the former western entente powers, or a least strong factions within them, still believe that all of Europe eastward of etc ought to belong to Russia. That’s how self determination of the peoples looks for the wrong peoples, those the Russian-who-can-do-no-wrong, even if they murder others by the million, seek to conquer.
BTW, collection of culture and ethnicities applies to all colonial empires, such as Russia, India, China or the USA.
What Kyle said, again;
”Zelensky’s visit to the White House was a PR disaster. And it comes at the worst possible time.
Confidence in the Ukrainian leader has dropped from 72% to under 50%.
American support for Ukraine aid is also cratering — 41% of those polled say it is ‘too much,’ up from 7% when the war began. 62% of Republicans oppose giving more aid.
The gaslighting is starting to wear off. Americans want answers on where there money is going. And their support for this proxy war that no one voted for is coming to an end.
That’s one of the things that irks me the most about this entire fiasco — it’s been three years of doling out billions and billions in “aid” (including military weapons) and there hasn’t been a single vote in Congress putting on the record that the U.S. is now in a “proxy war” against a nuclear-armed power. Reckless, irresponsible, wasteful, insulting, and unconstitutional.
Why don’t so-called “Democrats” support REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT?
The U.S. government was formed to represent THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.
But the U.S. government constantly DEFIES the will of the people because so-called “elites” IGNORE what the People want from THEIR government.
Radical Democrats act like they own OUR government. At most, they are a loony 20% of the entire electorate.
Enough is enough. Kick them out of OUR government and make them do something productive with their own lives and stop meddling with ours.”

The last two paras perfectly summarise the state of UK politics.
It’s a good job nobody’s told Putin just how weak and vulnerable the EU/UK really are are otherwise he’d attack us now – before we have a chance to build up our world class Lol armies.
And if you’re dumb enough to believe he actually would then give your head a wobble. As the man himself has said – why should I, the West is doing a pretty good job of destroying itself.
Russia, inter alia, has abundant coal, oil, gas… no Net Zero… plus other minerals, an efficient agricultural sector, smart scientists and technologists, a robust, growing economy despite the war.
Why would spend Putin spend the resources to invade rotting, sinking hulk that is EU/UK who have nothing but recession, technology stuck in the 1970s, and overcrowded with the World’s dross from every shite-hole?
It is a measure of the hubris and blindness of the Euro-galoots who imagine their territory is such a valuable prize.
But he invaded Ukraine. And previously Chechnya, Georgia, and is militarily involved in Transnistria, Syria and a few African states.
Your understanding of recent history leaves a lot to be desired.
The first Chechen war was under America’s friend Boris Yeltsin and had very little to do with Putin.
“Since President Vladimir Putin came to power in 2000, apart from the most recent crisis in Ukraine, Russia has been involved in just two major conflicts: The Chechen War between 1999 and 2009 and the so-called Five Day War with Georgia in 2008. In both of these events, it can be argued with some certainty that Russia did not instigate the conflict and was in fact acting defensively. The Chechnya conflict began after the Invasion of Dagestan, when the Chechnya-based Islamic International Brigade (IIB), an Islamist militia [covertly supported by the CIA], led by warlords Shamil Basayev and Ibn al-Khattab, invaded the neighbouring Russian republic of Dagestan on August 2, 1999, in support of the Shura of Dagestan separatist rebels. Russia was left with little choice but to enter Chechnya on 1st October. The campaign ended the de facto independence of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and restored Russian federal control over the territory. It is even debatable to even consider this as a “foreign” conflict, as it is quite plausible to argue that this crisis was an internal one.
The conflict with Georgia follows a similar line of events as with Chechnya. During the night of 7th to 8th August 2008, Georgia launched a large-scale military offensive against South Ossetia, in an attempt to reclaim the territory. This move was completely unprovoked. The Georgian attack caused casualties among Russian peacekeepers, who resisted the assault along with Ossetian militia. Russia rightfully reacted by deploying units of the Russian 58th Army and Russian Airborne Troops into South Ossetia one day later and launched airstrikes against Georgian forces in South Ossetia and military and logistical targets in Georgia proper. It is now well established that the majority of experts, monitors and ambassadors agreed that the war was started by Georgia.”
Copied verbatim from some Putin approved textbook of Russian history.
Oh dear, The Daily Sceptic has adopted a resident nutter.
No, it was from Alexander Clackson who is the founder of Global Political Insight, a political media and research organisation. He has a Master’s degree in International Relations.
https://www.globalresearch.ca/russia-or-america-who-is-the-real-aggressor/5372882
Masters degree in International Relations! Wow! Perhaps you’re more easily impressed than I am. Perhaps, like you, he is a Putin supporter.
the tag line of “America-who-is-the-real-aggressor” is a give away. There is no discussion. When did America last invade Ukraine?
I’m happy to be the resident nutter, but wasn’t it you in a previous thread who accused me of abuse?
I’m not aware of accusing you of abuse.
It was probably one of the many others you have abused.
I think, glasshalfwit, that you have conclusively proved you are in the Pay of Putin. So you are an idiot. Goodbye.
Maybe the breakdown was a good thing, if it had not happened Zelensky would have gone away thinking he had US backing, and the war would have continued.
Zelensky now needs to concede what the Russians want, maybe they will resume fighting after a pause, but maybe not, it must be worth taking a punt and hoping for the latter.
Russia needs to be brought in from the cold, maybe that will allow Europe not to make military spending promises that it will mostly not keep.
I have never understood why we are fighting against Russia. Never.
It’s because you are paid by Putin! Duh!
A bit hard of thinking aren’t you? Plus lacking in imagination. Duh?
I think imagination is the prerogative of the hardline Putin supporters posting here. I prefer facts. But you can imagine, if you like. It substitutes an easy comfort blanket instead of thinking things through.
We are not, but Russia invaded Ukraine. Why did Finland and Sweden request to join NATO?
For security, which Trump might not now offer. This time last year I went on a trip to Tallinn. In very bar, restaurant and coffee shop I went in, they were scared shitless of Putin. And Estonia is a member of NATO.
Well, you have never fought against Russia since the Crimean war.
Amen! Russia has been a pain in the bottom since 1850.
Only a few media reports have mentioned the crucial fact that when the official US negotiator went to Kiev a few weeks ago with the agreement for Zelensky to sign, Zelensky treated the negotiator with contempt, REFUSED to even invite him to sit down for their planned discussion, REFUSED to sign the agreement, and then basically KICKED HIM OUT!
Zelensky then demanded to meet the US President in person in order to sign the agreement that had already been painstakingly negotiated by US and Ukrainian diplomatic officials, and which Zelensky had already agreed to sign, as Marc Rubio later explained. But then Zelensky tried his usual tactics which backfired in a spectacular manner.
Now Starmer has already signed an outrageous 100-year pact with Zelensky, promising to shackle British Taxpayers with supporting Ukraine for the next century, violating British law stipulating that Parliament shall pass no law binding a future Parliament. And Starmer has just announced that he will “address the nation” this evening after 4:00 pm. I dread to think what more crushing burdens he will pile upon the British Taxpayers and our decimated Army, which would fill Wembley Stadium with 20,000 seats to spare.
Some comments from the public on both sides of the Pond:
— “I hope Kier Starmer is personally paying for all of this money wasted on Ukraine. UK citizens have not voted to be part of any war.”
— “Neither has the US, but here we are….”
Putin unleashes Iskander-M missile attack to ‘sink container ship in Odesa carrying cargo of British weapons for Ukraine’ | Daily Mail Online
— “At least four similar ships were destroyed in the last couple of months but you are not informing the public. All the money you give Ukraine goes up in smoke.”
— “Russia doesn’t want control of Ukraine . There was a peace deal on the table three years ago which would have left Ukraine untouched, and no soldiers would have died, but the village idiot Z went for war.”
— “Not only weapons! At least 30 bodies were recovered and the search continues. How many British soldiers died there???”
The Black Belt Barrister has analysed the full 40-minute White House confrontation and concludes the Zelensky was to blame: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtmMl8ISPcY.
He is running a poll on his channel (easily accessed via the show notes) asking his viewers if they agree with Starmer’s assertion that Zelensky has “full backing across the United Kingdom”. With 35k votes cast the result is Yes 15%, No 85%.
Thanks for that link to the Black Belt Barrister’s poll. I couldn’t vote because I don’t have a Youtube account, but reading the public comments was fascinating. Well done to him for giving the people the chance to voice their true opinions. Please keep us posted on the poll results.
Zelensky alone, apparently, knows that there is no prospect of any ceasefire unless Putin is pressured into one.
No-one is going to do that.
Everyone on this site knows that taking ‘the alternative view’ is widely perceived as being ‘obnoxious’.
President Trump deserves enormous credit, also, for being ‘obnoxious’ in talking to Putin and trying to bring Ukraine to some kind of cessation of hostilities
But the scale of the difficulty must, by now, be apparent to all.
Putin is not intent on occupying Europe, such a silly proposition. He cannot even occupy Ukraine, realistically. But he is intent on re-installing a puppet government in Kyiv, just as he has sustained Lukashenko in Belarus. And we know that he is intent on ‘the full restoration of the strategic partnership between Moldova and the Russian Federation’ because the FSB told us that.
After Moldova, he will put the squeeze on the Baltic States and Poland. Why? Because he can…and each move further demoralises a weak and divided continent of Europe, much of which, political parties funded indirectly from Moscow, will elect pro Russian governments as a consequence, quite possibly including Britain.
For heavens sake, we can see just exactly how much in thrall to the U.S. our government currently is.
Why can we not see that Russia is more than keen to take on the role of European Hegemon as the U.S. shifts its attention to the Pacific?
Russia are backing a “multipolar” world such as BRICS+ where every country is regarded as equal.
The US and its vassals in the West want to continue with a Unipolar world where the US are the Hegemon.
Russia has no design on anyone.
They have a huge country where they have abundant natural resources.
Unlike the US and its vassals they do not need to create conflict around the world to rape other countries.
Russia already has the resources, the culture and the moral high ground.
Yes the US particularly under Trump have China in their sights.
Russia will NOT allow the US to attack China without severe consequences.
Is anybody else disgusted by Zelenskyy’s smug satisfied grin both in the picture of him at the heads of state meeting this afternoon and even more so when he is stood behind Rachel from accounts.
Presumably Zelensky doesn’t realise he is a dead man walking.
A beautiful moment to see his mask torn of his face for him. He became so smug over the last few years being treated like a demigod wherevr he went. And now shown up to be the grubby little prat who turns up dressed like a tramp. I wonder what his plans for the future are and how short-lived they will be.
In the words of corporal Jones (slightly paraphrased),….
He didn’t like it up him!
Rumours are he has bought property all over the World to move to and his wife has bought thousands worth of luxury goods.
Ah, yes. Rumours. Such a sound source of facts.
So the two down voters prefer rumours to facts? Highly indicative of the intellectual calibre posting here!
Your government and their presstitutes in the main stream media will be pleased you have believed all their lies, propaganda and omissions of the truth.
My government? Not yours then – Presumably it’s the Dumas. You really have blown your cover in this piece, haven’t you? Date with that 10th story window gets closer.
Worth a listen
https://x.com/HbonesMedia/status/1895836108870873306
Very informative perspective.
Presumably resident Zelensky fanboy, ‘BillT’, doesn’t think the constant kidnapping of men off the street in Ukraine, beating them up if they resist, to then die in battle doesn’t constitute ”great cruelty”, such is his starry-eyed fanaticism with his dictator idol. ”There are none so blind as those who will not see”.
”This is a terrifying video from the city of Odesa, Ukraine, which was hidden by Western media.
Zelensky’s bandits, who are engaged in the mobilization of citizens, kidnapped a civilian fitness trainer for refusing to go to the front. He also refused to pay Zelensky’s bandits a bribe to be released. Agents and employees of the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) also participated in the kidnapping.
They took him to the forest, beat him, tied him to a tree, and forced him to say on camera: «I’m a fa …ot, I just got fu..ed in the ass, I’m going to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine!”
Then this video was posted on a news channel linked to the Office of the President of Ukraine to intimidate the population.
None of those who kidnapped and tortured the man have been arrested or punished.
Look at this man. The same mistreatment was inflicted on American journalist Gonzalo Lira.
I’ll tell you more: for publicly criticizing such crimes, the Ukrainian authorities opened a fabricated criminal case against me and began to intimidate me, which forced me to leave Ukraine.
There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of such cases. Many of these men were murdered in the same way as Gonzalo Lira.
Americans must know the truth.
Democratic representatives and Europeans who support Zelensky must watch this video and answer: do they want to continue supporting such banditry in Ukraine, which happens because they remain silent?
Sincerely,
Ukrainian oppositionist, Myroslav Oleshko”
https://x.com/oleshkomyroslav/status/1895943679220609051
And how could we forget journalist Gonzalo Lira? Would he have died in a Ukrainian prison if Trump had been in charge then? Nothing ‘cruel’ about his treatment though, apparently. Perhaps Z’s faithful acolytes have a different definition of the word from us normal folk;
“I cannot accept the way my son has died. He was tortured, extorted, incommunicado for 8 months and 11 days and the US Embassy did nothing to help my son,” Lira Sr. stated in an email announcing the news. “The responsibility of this tragedy is [with] the dictator Zelensky with the concurrence of a senile American President, Joe Biden. My pain is unbearable. The world must know what is going on in Ukraine with that inhuman dictator Zelensky.”
https://www.worldtribune.com/american-journalist-gonzalo-lira-died-from-neglect-in-ukrainian-prison/
Presumably resident Putin fanboy Mogwit hasn’t thought things through. Do you really suppose that Zelensky, a man who goes cap in hand to Trump for funds and weapons, will allow the mistreatment of a US journalist in a Ukrainian prison? You really are captured by the pro-Putin media.
Got one hell of a productive strawman factory going on there, ain’t that right, Mr Personality? The way you choose to deny facts, or any evidence which contradicts your beliefs, tells me just how wedded you are to your narrative, plus how over-inflated your ego is.
Your obvious attempt at a strawman is accusing me of being a fan of Putin when I’ve previously stated on more than one post that I despise both dictators, and that *both* are guilty of ”great cruelty”. So sorry not sorry that I don’t fit snugly and conveniently into your ”Putin fan/useless idiot” box. Try harder. Continuing to deny these basic facts that you have been made aware of does make you come across as rather unhinged and obsessive.
I know it’s difficult, but could you please try to address the points I made in the previous post, instead of tediously rehearsing the witterings you made previously.
I know it’s difficult but could you provide some supporting evidence for your allegation that I’m “paid by Putin”? Or do you intend tediously trolling every relevant comments section with your endless witterings and unsubstantiated accusations?
Well mogwump, perhaps you could start by answering points 1-4 in four posts above.
All of that fine Aryan manhood destroyed. This has a huge effect on subsequent generations. The loss of the best and most talented men in the first world war is part of the British decline. And in Ukraine it is even worse because another three million of the best, or at least the most intrepid and well-heeled have moved abroad and are unlikely to return. This is a hollowing out parasitic operation.
https://www.freespeechbacklash.com/article/zelensky-v-trump-and-vance
Tom Armstrong over at Free Speech Backlash (FSB) with, to my mind an excellent synopsis of the Ukraine war.
Worth a read.
They were the best that we had left. Those men had much better hair quality, far better physiques, infinitely better posture than their soy boy counterparts. Such fine young patriots had to be destroyed and ideally whilst making trillions in weapons sales and the rest. Truly disgusting but they got away with it. So much so that they are dragging severely disabled people off the streets to be taken off to be killed within days.
This is the real offence. Compare him to a soldier of the Azov Batallion. They got mocked for being a bit crass but these were real fighting men. If you read the accounts of the battle that culminated in the fight within the Azov steelworks you will see that these were real warriors. And now there are a million of them dead and most haven’t even been buried. Consider the obscenity of us the Anglo-Americans sending far better men than us to their death. Perhaps I shouldn’t say anything against Boris Johnson on this page but his role was a nasty one. He’s fine now but there are a million dead Ukrainians because of him. I’m not slagging him off I’m just saying.
I read eugyppius because he is a witty and informed observer of German politics offering a different perspective than I can get elsewhere. However, if you read the whole thing this article is an uncharitable hatchet-job and I’m disappointed in eugyppius.
Agreed, Zelensky made a hash of things. But he is president of a country at war, invaded by a bigger neighbour with express imperial aims, the army of which has targeted civilians and committed atrocities. His countrymen are dying in self-defence. These are things Americans used to be against, when they were motivated by defending truth, democracy, liberty – the sort of thing I would have thought DS readers also like. Now Zelensky comes to the Land of the Free and tries to express himself in English (a mistake) and is shouted down – literally – by two overfed (but beautifully besuited) bullies shouting about deals, cards and ingratitude.
Eugyppius is simply writing things that you will not find in mainstream media. Zelensky is an actor who played being a simple, sympathetic, nice guy who made it to the top and became president of Ukraine in a TV series. In real life, his character was promoted by a billionaire to actually become President of Ukraine and that is where his philanthropy stopped. He continued acting, receiving scripts from both USA (keen to replace Putin with a more malleable Russian President) and from his Ukrainian billionaire who supported right-wing extremists determined to ‘cleanse’ Ukraine of all ethnic foreigners, not just ethnic Russians. Those in eastern Ukraine had resisted, had declared independence and were subsequently treated to daily shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces in the west. The Minsk agreements were supposed to bring peace to the area but the two prime signatories, Merkel for Germany and Hollande for France, both subsequently publicly admitted the agreements were only a trick to allow the West to further arm and train Ukrainians to fight against Russia, to weaken Russia and hopefully cause Putin to be thrown out of office.
And so the farce of the West causing Ukrainian lives to be sacrificed on the alter of destroying Putin has continued for 3 years now, at a cost of billions of dollars and euros to the West’s tax payers, and probably one million Ukrainian lives, not to mention more than one hundred thousand Russian lives.
All of this is well documented in ‘alternative’ media. Apologies if we sceptics rejoice at a US President being elected who possibly (with Trump you never know) may end the ridiculous circus that is being played out by this actor and his supporters in US and European politics.
There’s scepticism and there’s wilful cynical blindness to actual facts, buttressed by nutty assertions supported only by the claim that ‘you don’t read about them in MSM’. I am a sceptic. Your position falls into the wilful (motivated?) cynic camp.
What are the “actual facts” here then?
Please enlighten us.
Russia invaded Ukraine.
Trump’s summary of the situation is, I believe, indisputable: the war has cost the West $350 billion, millions of lives have been lost (at least one million) and Zelensky has had 3 years to sort the problem out. But Ukraine is running out of personnel to fight, money and weapons are running out and there is no end in sight. At the same time, Russia’s independence, military and economy are growing.
USA was governed the last 4 years by a President who was clearly mentally diminished, so people are wondering who was actually making the decisions? Who was really in charge and with what programme?
If there is anything I wrote you wish me to back up with appropriate sources, please let me know.
Zelensky has had 3 years to sort the problem out?? Putin is the invader. I think I established previously that you are a Putin idiot, paid by the Kremlin, so no more needs be said.
I believe that Trump and Vanc’s behaviour was dispicable.
I’m glad I never took up that subscription to Eugyppius’ substack
This is the first thing I’ve read by Eugyppius that has been a disappointment. That facetious style towards Zelensky was unnecessary, lazy and nasty. He’s fighting for the survival of his country I feel he should be given some respect and also be allowed to not always get it right. His English is not good and he was jet-lagged. This should have been allowed for. Meanwhile, Trump and Vance had no such excuse. It was just plain bullying and an embarrassment to America.
I’m also sorry the DS published this. This is actually a back-handed compliment as I can never remember thinking this about a DS article before.
