As the Labour Government prepares to deliver a Net Zero coup de grâce to the jobs and industries that made and make Britain, there are at last signs of industries and workers beginning to organise their own defence. But these overdue counters to the establishment’s green orthodoxy suffer from a failure to understand their enemy, which has always sought their destruction.
Introducing a fringe event at the Labour Party Conference last month, outgoing editor of the Spectator Fraser Nelson explained to the audience that he was unable to find any sponsors or speakers to represent the Government’s position in a debate called ‘Is the 2030 Net Zero target achievable?‘ “Mention the name Gary Smith and the line goes dead,” explained Nelson. Gary Smith is General Secretary of the GMB Union, and has maintained something of an opposition to Net Zero policies. As the new Government has increased the level of ambition in its own climate agenda, to include “clean power by 2030”, Smith has responded by increasing his level of criticism.

“all of which leads to fertile ground for the far right.”—-No it is fertile ground for people with half a brain who know that this is an eco socialist climate scam. The whole climate change fraud is based on the idea that our lifestyles are unsustainable, and we are all to get by with less of EVERYTHING.—-Less energy, less travel, less prosperity, less cars, less holidays in aeroplanes, less food and anything else you can think of. —The excuse for this communist control of the worlds wealth and resources is “Climate Change”. —The greatest pseudo scientific fraud ever perpetrated. —-On this issue Unions and Capitalists alike need to come together to expose the FRAUD
Indeed. ‘Far Right’. People with IQs over 70, who don’t believe govt’-‘green’ propaganda and lies and who don’t want to live under Eco Nazism, Medical Nazism, or any form of tyranny.
You called?
Yes, Far Right. That’s me!
Apparently, these days anybody with an ounce of common sense is labelled ‘far right.’
These days the ‘far right’ are the vast majority of people.
Gary Larson often nails it for me, intentionally or not…
It is a far, far better Right that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better Right that I go to, than I have ever known. (Apologies to Charlie Dickens.)
Far right as opposed to far left, and in a nutshell, there is the nub of the problem. We are not fighting facts but beliefs.
Far Left doesn’t have beliefs, just evil.
“Why not confront the green agenda for what it is?”
If Far-Left = empowerment of the State over the individual, collectivism, no property Rights, centralised economic power and control… which it dies, then:-
The polar opposite – Far Right must = sovereignty of the individual, property Rights, free market capitalism… which it does.
The idiots who use the term “Far Right” use it as a signifier for Fascism, National Socialism (Nazi) – both of which are Far-Left rooted in Socialism.
But then we are dealing with people with only lower brain activity.
In reality, the only meaning definion “right” and “left” ever had in politics is
left – people who want to create a democratic republic
right – people who want to maintain the monarchy
That’s why the German SPD and KPD belonged to the left, despite the former wanted a parliamentary republic and the latter, a soviet republic, while the monarchists from the DNVP and the monarchist Hitler and the party led by him belonged to the political right.
As the neoliberal anarchists certainly don’t want a monarchy, they also belong to the political left and since they share the same final goal as the communists, namely, elimination of the state as useles relics of past times, they’re actually even far left. That members of the far left like to accuse each other of being closet fascists in circles is a well-known phenomenon since such accusations featured prominently in Stalin’s show trials against other members of the Russian communist party.
Left – a democratically elected authoritarian dictator
Right – a monarch, with advisors chosen, democratically, by the People
Currently Britain has a monarch, with a democratically elected authoritarian dictator, and State Radio and TV: all of which agree with the Climate Agenda.
“Unions and Capitalists alike need to come together to expose the FRAUD”
Bingo. But I have zero hope for the UK in this respect. The farcical and destructive wedge that was driven between the mill owners and their employees is just far too engrained in British society. Elizabeth Gaskell wrote about it all, in North and South. Also read Black Diamonds by Catherine Bailey. Too many people profit from this division, in more ways than financial, it speaks to people’s victim mentality which I am sad to say is very prevalent in Britain…
Yes you are probably correct. Many young people still have their fathers and grandfathers ranting about Thatcher ringing in their ears. —-But isn’t it ironic that the left hated Thatcher for her battle with coal and now it is the left that want to blow up the coal plants, and infact the last one was just recently closed.
Indeed, an irony which is totally lost on them…
It is – if we still had loads of coal fired stations, we’d also be closing the closely coupled pits
“climate change denial”.——-This implies that there must also be “climate change confirmers”———Except there aren’t any since there are no experts or scientists or computer modellers who know what the climate is going to do 50 or 100 years from now and the idea that they do know comes entirely from models full of assumptions that don’t match what the real world is doing. —-It is “Official Science”, not “Science”. It is a Scientific Dictatorship.
A belief system masquerading as science, perhaps.
Consensus = religion.
Evidence = science.
Consensus also = ‘politics’
Science is a mode of enquiry, leading to greater understanding. So is Theology,
When either are done for ‘show’, to advertise an agenda, they create false trails, false gods, for the unthinking populous to follow, especially when performed religiously.
Sophistry. Nobody “denies” climate change. The issue is Mankind as from the end of the 20th Century having taken over complete control of the Earth’s climate system by use of a proxy – a trace gas, CO2.
This is insane. What is “denied” is acceptance of madness and treating the mentally afflicted as if their fantasies are reality.
I suspect ‘events’ will proved to be useful. A particularly cold winter, or a major power interruption etc resulting in significant blackouts. Plenty of coverage of personal disasters (deaths) and the public mood will change rapidly. There will be lots of finger pointing (rightly) at the incompetent Government. People will wake up and realise there will only be more of the same.
Suddenly there won’t be many left to defend the 6th formers currently pretending to be MPs in Parliament.
The incompetence of Kneel’s government is deliberate.
It’s someone’s plan alright.
It certainly appears to be doomed to fail, but reality is a hard enemy to defeat, and Net Zero is not based on any kind of economic, moral or social reality. —–I suggest it is Net Zero that is ultimately doomed to fail.
It is. But like all communist projects that have come before they don’t fail until they ruin the countries they have taken over.
Yep
I suspect (and hope), when those energy bills spiral and old folks are freezing to death, the great British public will finally wake up to this greatest of scams.
A few years away yet though, so strap in and hunker down.
The point is the clowns in Government hold all the levers of power, control the military and have the monopoly on violence.
It’s not a matter of waking up, it being able to do anything about it – voting is not the solution, as should be evident by now. The political establishment is out of control.
So what can those of us who understand what has happened, ,and is happening, do about the situation?
Nothing, alas, except try to survive.
Only when a large enough proportion of the population are prepared to take up pitch forks can anything be done.
If you can’t tell’em (and we have tried), you have to show’em, and they will be shown.
So, stock up with the popcorn, and other food supplies, and warm clothes, and enjoy the show.
There is no alternative. We have tried.
I can assure you that there are, in our village, a southern, prosperous, village, that there are plenty of people, professional people, that are still unaware of the approaching catastrophe.
There is still a Planet Saving Contingency, hating the evil oil companies.
On a more specific Net Zero related matter, the Labour government has just revealed that the ‘£20 billion hole’ that they kept going on about was in fact one they intended to create themselves, and in a quite literal manner (scroll down to diagram):
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy4301n3771o
Why is it that so much ‘Climate Change’ ‘technology’ looks like an excerpt from a primary school pupil’s [failed] summer project?
This article can be summarised in a sentence:
People are concentrating on “HOW?” when the question should be “WHY?”
Locally, I’ve just realised why there’s so much fuss about LTNs and “active travel”. Unlike the wide open spaces of Russia, there’s no room here for the coming Zil lanes in our congested towns so they’ll just have to convert the existing highways and get us off them.
You’re missing the point if you think the unions are doing anything except negotiating with the Labour government to make sure they get taken care of in this new centrally planned economy.
They couldn’t care.less about climate change.
Milton Friedman: A union looks after and serves the interests of two groups of people – its leaders; its members.
I don’t think I am, stewart. Until all the people who qualify their hand-wringing concerns with an acceptance of the “science” have to face the possibility that it’s all unnecessary, we’re stuck with the ridiculous plans like the one two stories above this one.
Similarly, just imagine that we didn’t need to cover the country with pylons or flood the towns with EV charge points, or dig up millions of tonnes of scarce minerals because we didn’t need EVs, windmills or grid-scale battery units.
Follow the money. JSO and their ilk have the approval of the establishment and the gravy train; it’s just a difference of opinion on when and how much.
“People are concentrating on “HOW?” when the question should be “WHY?”
It’s to Save the Planet! The BBC says so.
That more important than mere money, while we have some.
We have lost that battle. It’s been in the schools for well over a decade.
NET Zero is not ‘doable’, which is easier to explain, because it is fully known why it won’t work. All the explanations are ‘earth bound’.
There isn’t a Climate Emergency, but that is harder to explain, especially when more is being discovered, every month. It’s easy to think that, because we keep learning more about the Climate, we may find we are wrong. Also, the Earth’s Climate involves Space Weather, Solar behaviour, plasmas, and Physics beyond most people’s understanding, and they think it’s irrelevant, anyway.
I know: they look skywards, with a glazed appearance. It isn’t what the BBC tells them.
“People are concentrating on “HOW?” when the question should be “WHY?”
It’s to Save the Planet! The BBC says so.
The senior leaders in the TUC will be bought off ….. their members will be thrown on the scrap heap.
They could have stopped the scam a couple of decades ago. They didn’t. Too late now.
revitalise U.K. manufacturing
[Checks calendar. Nope it’s not April 1st.]
What is unjust about it? Surely the motion is racist since it presupposes that the only justice is to be found by employing people in Britain. Britain can’t do these jobs so someone else in China or elsewhere will. Britain can’t do these green jobs because our government won’t allow it: New coal mine? No. New oil/gas wells? No; New battery factory? No. New cars? Certainly not ones people want. Farming? No, the land is needed for solar panels. Making the solar panels? No, too much pollution – and cheaper from China. New job counting the spoons in a vegan cafe? Well… OK… as long as they’re not plastic spoons..
They’ll be burning the wooden spoons to either heat the vegan cafe or heat their lettuce.
In order to “transition” there has to be something to transition to.
We are “transitioning” from a society and economy with adequate energy, to one without.
I am coming round to the belief that that is the intent.
Just look who was there, so long ago:
https://nypost.com/2021/11/12/50-years-of-predictions-that-the-climate-apocalypse-is-nigh
Or metal spoons.
It’s all central planning, basically.
It’s a communist revolution under the guise of climate ideology.
The first time the world tried communism, they did it explicitly. As it failed this next attempt has to be dressed up as something else.
These unions are just demanding their place on the high table.
Net Zero is a component of the suicide of the West, and is a product of the decadent and degenerate ruling group the West is stuck with. Fundamentally, our rulers have a death wish. Our problem is that in seeking to destroy themselves they want to destroy us, and it’s this that we have to prevent. The best thing from our point of view is that the current ruling group voluntarily goes away and dies. Failing that, we’re going to need a revolution.
It’s no use – the revolutionaries are always the tyrants of tomorrow.
Anarchy (being an archos) is something you can arrange for yourself.
And there are only two things you can control:
Your expenses
Your emotions
It’s no use – the revolutionaries are always the tyrants of tomorrow.
True enough, But the current regime will collapse into chaos.
This morning Starmer was boasting about spending millions on carbon capture technology. What a complete waste of our money. This technology wastes energy collecting the CO2 making the electricity generated even more expensive. While most of the world continues to ramp up coal and gas production we use unreliable and expensive renewables, now along with CC. Starmer was also talking about a conference to promote inward investment. Good luck with that while our energy costs are three times that of the USA, and set to go up much more as renewables and CC are further rolled out.
The way the grass and plants have grown in our garden this year it looks to me like nature is doing quite a good job of carbon capture with no need for any intervention by mankind. Carbon capture has to be the most ruinous, pointless activity, as someone once sung,’ ‘ah but I may as well try and catch the wind”.
Totally agree
This reminds me of visiting a Victorian prison museum years ago – they had machines that would burn pointless people energy, just for the sake of doing something… carbon capture is exactly that, a pointless activity with massive cost and zero benefit. So who stands to benefit – follow the money…
We know they want to completely change the way we live, they have said so explicitly. I think the plan is to offshore all our manufacturing to China, then orchestrate a fallout with China, leading to shortages of everything and plausible deniability.
Net Zero will confound itself and self-destruct in the impossibility of meeting its aims within the timescale for lack of resources, technical and financial reasons, and the economic collapse it will cause.
It will be a painful death, painful for the citizenry but they have been voting for it for over 20 years – so serves ‘em right.
As Adam Smith said: There’s a great deal of ruin in a Nation.
It will be a painful death, painful for the citizenry but they have been voting for it for over 20 years – so serves ‘em right.
Unless I’m very much mistaken, there has never been a realistic option to vote against climate change policies as both Labour and the Tories are committed to implementing them. People are also susceptible to be influenced by propaganda and global warming/ climate change propaganda has been seriously intense during all this time.
People deserve to be shafted because they’re stupid and credulous is a motto for grifters seeking to shaft them. But that’s not what political leaders or even just MPs are supposed to do.
They are all following orders from their pay masters…
This also seems very likely to me. But the people who are following these orders are responsible for that and not the general population which doesn’t really have a say on the topic.
Reform is committed to abolishing the Climate Change Act and stopping the Net Zero insanity. Gas and Nuclear Energy would be the number one priority to try and reverse this looming catastrophe. It is a legitimate, democratic solution but must be supported. Spread the word, vote for Reform.
I can foresee us labelling this (or maybe next) winter, a “Milliband Winter”. Unfortunately, it looks like we all have to suffer financially, with some forfeiting their lives, to illicit some change.
The route to Net Zero is not going to be cheap. We have been decarbonising through deindustrialisation, hollowing out communities, throwing people on the scrap heap, all of which leads to fertile ground for the far Right.
There’s nothing which forces the heads-right-far-up-their-own-arses forces of the political establishment to pursue policies which are going to be immensely harmful to the overwhelming majority of the electorate and if the so-called “far right” won’t, then, a democratic system will sooner or later lead to them being deservedly elected.
Never mind their poncey agendas just need to get a bit mucky and start building dirty great smoke stacks and everything else that makes life warm and worthwhile. These aren’t real men stop treating them with deference just because they speak like they have a plumb in their mouth and a cattle prod up their arse. Sick preverted freaks every man jack of em.
If they can’t do it then erect your own. When was the last time you had an erection? Do you think maybe someone is responsible?
A great article but surely one error: “renewables” are LESS not more labour intensive than fossil fuel based energy forms. Isn’t that the point the Unions are waking up to?
The collapse of the Net Zero project is inevitable. Some countries have already de facto abandoned it. Others (most importantly China) have only ever paid lip service to it. The real question is what, if anything, of our industry, economy and society will still survive at that point, and whether it will be enough to rebuild from. Ironically, my last best hope comes from being old enough to remember the miners’ strikes: I’ve witnessed what becomes of a government that can’t keep the lights on.
Great article Ben you’ve nailed it.
Does anyone know of an organisation that one can join that is actively protesting about the lie that is ‘the climate crisis’? All I can find is opposition to Net Zero but as this article points out that doesn’t address the root of the problem. I want to demonstrate, fight and riot is neccessary!!
Sadly, there is no stopping a bad idea whose time has come.
This Net Zero, along with all of the other woke utopian programs being pushed by the elite managerial class will ultimately fail. They will continue to bring hardships with their insane policies resulting in ever more numbers of people actively opposing them. Many corporations are now actively coming out against DEI. It is estimated that fully 30% of the population, and building, are actively opposed to the globalist policies. The only way they can continue their quest for authoritarian power is through oppression like censorship or outright military or police force, which they will not be able to use effectively. Contrary to what they want you to believe, they have no consensus.
