An exhibit on Jewish life in Berlin in a display case in front of the Tiergarten Townhall in central Berlin was destroyed in the early morning hours of Sunday. According to the sponsoring organisation, Sie waren Nachbarn, the perpetrator first threw a rock through one side of the display case and then set the exhibit on fire.
Sie waren Nachbarn or ‘They Were Our Neighbours’ documents the fates of Jewish residents of Berlin’s centrally-located Moabit neighbourhood under the Third Reich. The Tiergarten Townhall exhibit was devoted to Jewish employees of Moabit Hospital. Photos published on the website of the association show the damage to the exhibit.
The accompanying text notes that the exhibit, which was first installed at the beginning of November, had already been the target of smaller acts of vandalism: “Evidently the mere words ‘Jewish Moabit’ [on stickers and a banner in the exhibit] were already an affront to certain people.”
A panel added to the exhibit and still visible in the photos (see above) explains further:
The exhibit on Moabit Hospital and the terror against the Jewish people working there had barely opened and it was already attacked.
‘Jewish Moabit’ stickers on the glass panes were ripped off, probably by antisemites.
We have replaced them, since we will not let ourselves be intimidated.
The police are reportedly investigating the incident.
The Jewish fates documented in the exhibit include that of Lydia Rabinowitsch‐Kempner, who was Head of the Department of Bacteriology at Moabit Hospital until being forced into retirement in 1934 after the Nazis came to power. She would die one year later. As a young woman, she had worked as an assistant to the German physician and microbiologist Robert Koch. The German public health authority, the Robert Koch Institute, is named after the latter.
Rabinowitsch‐Kempner’s son, Robert Kempner, a lawyer, managed to emigrate to the United States shortly before his mother’s death. He would return to Germany after the Second World War as an assistant U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials.

As the exhibit PDF is (as far as I can tell) only available in German, I’ll summarize it here (insofar it refers to Moabit):
A Jewish doctor was forced into early retirement and later emigrated into the USA.
People working there formed a secret communist sabotage organization. This was discoverd in 1943, the members were sentenced to death and – with the exception of one of them – subsequently executed.
After the war, the spouse of the head of this sabotage organization was also found guilty of illegal communist agitation and sentenced and punished according to the law of the time (broadly in-line with the anticommunist post-war US policy). It was further discovered that she had been an active member of the NSDAP and thus, not exactly someone who had suffered from ‘Nazi persecution’.
Not quite what it says on the tin.
Neither Jewish people nor anyone else should be persecuted for who they are.
However, does it help that we make a big deal out a of a group of people for some intrinsic characteristic, even if it’s to try to help them in some way?

The whole idea of defining special protected groups to protect them from discrimination is self-defeating.
The only thing we should be teaching is to not pay attention to any innate characteristics people might have and just focus on their character and personality.

Indeed. However I am not at all sure that all or even most cases of “defining special protected groups to protect them from discrimination” are actually intended to protect such groups. Often it seems like creating “victim” groups is just a useful tool for people who want money, status, power or simply to feel better about themselves.
One thing I am less sure about is in relation to immigration law/policy. It seems to me that whatever our differences with our cousins in white, Christian Europe are, they are indeed cousins who will tend to assimilate into our country more easily than those with recent or even less recent origins further afield. Should our immigration policy be “racist” or should it attempt to assess suitability on more “race-neutral” criteria. Or should immigration stop for a few hundred years?
On the first part, agree entirely. Identity groups are promoted by the self interested, but their useful idiots are people who buy the story that their special characteristics require protection. (Generally, if anyone insists on protecting someone other than themselves or their family, it’s almost certainly a racket). But while the a-holes are always going to be a-holes, the battle is for the hearts and minds of the useful idiots. And those are the people that would be worth convincing that we should focus on character.
On the immigration bit, that is a big can of worms, on here especially, because personally I don’t like any groups, including nations. People like to think that countries are a very natural and intrinsic form of human organisation. But the reality is that humans have lived far longer without countries than with them. Countries are a relatively new concept.
I would like to think that there is a better way, something that transcends nations and national boundaries and the strongmen that set them up to dominate the masses. But I know I am in a huge minority.
If one accepts countries, then one has to accept cultures and all the things that define them which tend to include things like race and religion. And we’re right back to where we started, defining people by their characteristics.
I suppose a pragmatic solution is that you apply criteria based on characteristics to decide if you let people into your country, but then once their in, you ignore it altogether. Sounds tricky though.

Countries are relatively new, and so is civilisation and “society”. Not much if anything where humans are concerned is “natural” – though you could argue that everything is “natural” as that is what has indeed happened. A better question is whether countries are useful and what are the realistic alternatives. I struggle with that, but that doesn’t mean I am super-attached to countries or to my own country (though it does seem “better” than many others, though getting worse rapidly).

I do not understand the need to undermine the notion of country / countries. Tribes and nations have been with us throughout recorded history. The most obvious explanation is that tribes developed from the extended family and subsequently developed further in to nations. The most obvious explanation being safety in the group and like-minded views and values.
Some ancestral peoples split from their original tribes and set out on their own and subsequently developed separate and distinct societies.
Countries represent the tribal concept extrapolated. Far from being new, as societal beings the tribe or country is essential to our way of life on this planet. This is why the myth of ‘diversity is our strength’ is complete and utter BS. It is in fact in typical Orwellian speak the complete opposite. Cultural diversity can only ever lead to greater divisions along tribal lines until such time as the stronger tribe becomes top dog.The losers either integrate or get wiped out.
Why is immigration being forced on Western nations by the Davos Deviants? The intention is to sow disharmony, tension, unrest and even violence which of course will lead to ever more restrictve laws and fear.
Why is the West being flooded with muslims? Quite simply they have societal and religious constructs which are the polar opposites of the fundamentally Christian countries into which they are being deposited.
The Davos Deviants couldn’t care less about islam but as a means of gaining control third world people with third world values are the perfect tools for disrupting First world countries. And it is working.
While I expect vitriol for my patriotic views those castigating me must understand that failing to stand for England and St George will simply speed our collapse in to a third world shit hole. We are at war on numerous fronts and preservation of our national identity is just one of those fronts and that is why I support the deportations of those immigrants who have failed to integrate.

Countries are sometimes quite arbitrary (and they work less well when they are thus) and they are imperfect, but they represent a good compromise between world government and the family unit – big enough to be able to undertake significant projects, small enough to sometimes be vaguely responsive to and reflective of the desires of the inhabitants.
You should check out the plight of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, I had seen her interviewed before but since Oct 7th I have paid more attention to her story. She was brought up Muslim but only lately converted to Christianity. She thought Europe would be a sanctuary from Islam but had to flee to the US.
Her book, Infidel, is one of my top ten books.
She received death threats from Muslims after making a short film that was highly critical of Islam, the director of the film was murdered by a Muslim. Ayaan was placed under 24 hour police protection that a couple of times meant she was temporarily moved to the US.
She eventually returned to the Netherlands but then chose to leave because she was offered a job at a prominent US think tank.
In her case it’s not correct to say she was forced to flee Europe due to threats from Muslims.
Unless it’s happened fairly recently she didn’t become a Christian. As a young adult she was a fairly fundamentalist Muslim and supported the Muslim Brotherhood. She then spent years questioning various aspects of Islam before finally renouncing it after 9/11 and became an atheist.
But the reality is that humans have lived far longer without countries than with them. Countries are a relatively new concept.
That’s conjecture because we don’t really know anything about most of human history (the roughly 3½ million years making up the so-called stone age). However, elaborate stone age countries and empires were discovered Europeans in central and southern America (and later, in Africa as well) and at the very least, human society was probably organized into territorial tribes (of related people). (City) states are known to exist from about 4000BC onwards.
To the woke left, that ideology is ‘Far Right’. along with natural immunity!

Leader of Moabit bacteriological institute 1920. Forced (reportedly) into retirement in 1934, died of illness in 1935. Her sons emigrated to the USA. One of them became a high profile prosecution assisstent for the Nuremberg trials.
Communist ‘resistance group’ “European Union”(!) at Moabit until 1943. Reportedly assisted Jews and other communists (many of them presumably in both categories) by hiding them from the authorities and supplying them with false passports. Also supplied deserters with fake medical statements. Supplied other ‘resistance groups’ with radio equipment, pharmaceuticals and wound-dressing materials, the latter two (that’s a guess from me) probably stolen from the hospital. Illegal publishing of anti-Nazi propaganda material. Uncovered in 1943, members sentenced to death and all but one executed.
Communist doctors Lilly Ehrenfried and Hertha Nathorff‐Einstein both working on medical “women’s rights” aka artificial pregnancy prevention for working class people as there are too many of them already. Ehrenfried fled to France and lived there with false papers until the end of the war. Nathorff-Einstein was made redundant in 1933, lost license to practice in 1938 and emigrated with her family to the USA in 1939.

The number of Jews murdered in WW2 is more like 2.25-2.5 million than 6 million, a number of mystical significance to religious Jews.
