Denmark’s Plans for Jail Term for Burning Quran in Public Prompt Fears of Return of Blasphemy Laws to Europe to Appease Violent Muslims

by Will Jones
26 August 2023 3:00 PM

The Danish Government has proposed a ban on setting the Quran alight in public citing national security concerns, prompting fears of a return of blasphemy laws to Europe to appease violent Muslims. BBC News has more.

Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said such burnings harmed Denmark and risked the safety of Danes.

The planned law will make improper treatment of the Quran or Bible a criminal offence punishable by a fine and jail sentence of up to two years.

The centre-Right Government said it wanted to send a signal to the world.

Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said Denmark had witnessed 170 demonstrations in recent weeks, including the burning of copies of the Quran in front of foreign embassies.

Denmark’s PET intelligence service has warned that the latest incidents have intensified the terrorist threat.

Neighbouring Sweden has also seen a series of Quran burnings and its security service has warned of a worsening security situation. In July, the Swedish embassy in Iraq was set alight by protesters.

But both Denmark and Sweden have hesitated to respond to the burnings because of their liberal laws on freedom of expression. Sweden scrapped its blasphemy laws in the 1970s.

Copenhagen decided to move after further Quran burnings at the end of July in Denmark and Sweden. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on its members to take appropriate action against countries where the Quran was being desecrated.

The Justice Minister was adamant the proposed change in the law was not targeting verbal or written expressions or satirical drawings. But he said burning religious texts served no other purpose than creating division and hatred.

“It is a cornerstone of our democracy that you have the right to express yourself,” said Deputy Prime Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen. “You also have to behave properly.”

Denmark could not stand idly by when such actions had negative consequences for its security, he added.

Sweden’s Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, said Stockholm would not take the same step as its neighbour, because that would probably require amending the constitution.

One lesson of history that we have learned the hard way: peace through appeasement does NOT work. Neville Chamberlain, anyone?

Ah hmmm, maybe not being enslaved by the Nazi cult to start with.
What transpired post ’45 has nothing to do with the casus belli of 1939. We can’t conflate those two eras, ante and post-bellum, nor rewrite history back to a certain point because you hate Churchill and his supposed Jew-backers who controlled him (a rather tedious thesis mostly devoid of historical reality). Without Churchill I guess you would be sucking down sauerkraut and wearing a green hat for the Oktoberfest.

Indeed, as I like to say, WWII is the exception that proves the rule. Yes there are nuances that get glossed over, but the gist remains the same.
As much as I Ioathe war, sometimes (albeit very rarely) it really can be a necessary evil. Even if the vast, vast majority of wars are wars of choice (and essentially rackets) that do far more harm than good on balance.

FDR and Churchill may not have been saints, to put it mildly, but Hitler was orders of magnitude worse. Any Pat Buchanan-esque false equivalence between Churchill and Hitler is either ignorant or disingenuous at best.

Yes, the Allies made a deal with the devil, a devil named Joseph Stalin who was easily as evil as Hitler. And it would have been great if Hitler and Stalin would have simply been left to annihilate each other. But before that would have happened, the rest of Europe would nevertheless have fallen to the Nazis had Hitler not have been stopped, as he really did NOT know how to stay in his own lane.

LOL, next you will be saying that Hitler didn’t really want war at all, he just wanted Danzig, and a small corridor leading there. If only they would have just let him have Danzig, then he would have finally been satisfied and would have behaved himself. Right? Riiiiight.

Hitler was incapable of being reasonable about anything, and he was surrounded by a mob that was in it for themselves. The danger now is that most of the West seem to have politicians with the same outlook. Take care people, this is the thin end of a very fat wedge that will kill you, your family and everyone else in it pointless search for absoloute power. We know very well what that causes, absoloute corruption of humam ideals, culture, and life.

I have been a whistle blower. I lost my job over it 15 years ago.
I still feel good about that,if poorer.
My grandparents lived in Germany from 1934 till 1939. Their Jewish doctor and his wife committed suicide in 1938 because they could see what Germany was like then.
Grandpa told his friend from church,Lord Reith, about it but Reith didn’t want to know.
Sometimes doing the right thing is more important than anything else.

The Danish government should in the first instance be looking at what has led to the book burnings. Perhaps some Danes feel they have a grievance that has not been addressed or that readers of the Quran are recipients of unjustified favourable treatment. I am sure that most Danish people would view book burning as I do, a rather ill-educated response, but if they feel it is the only way to draw attention to their grievance, well…

Appeasement as we all know never works and simply exacerbates a problem that is not being addressed. Those being appeased will scent victory and simply ramp up their demands.

Surely the Danish government is not seeking to expand on hatred and divisions.

No, surely not.

Book burning and book pulping are in general bad ideas. But if the book in question is a blueprint of tyranny; if it represents the brutality of today and the dictatorship of tomorrow; if ritualised submission to that book is gradually enjoined upon everyone, regardless of the esteem or disesteem in which they hold it, then the act of incineration takes on a different, less reprehensible character.

For example, I should not very vehemently reprove the Czech student who chose to burn “The Communist Manifesto” in 1968; or a thirties German dissident who set fire to “Mein Kampf”. They are, at most, destroying copies and cannot hope to obliterate the text completely, so there is no question of diminishing knowledge. They are simply showing – and very courageously – that they object to slavery, the slavery enjoined by the volume itself and made manifest by forced submission to its supposed rightness or sanctity.

And there is a further issue. The most important right in a democracy is the right to be wrong. If the owner of a tome uses it as part of a statement, a demonstration, then usually and normally he should have that right. You may recall that members of a certain religion destroyed copies of “The Satanic Verses” by fire in Bradford, more than thirty years ago. Again, I put the question: does that apply to the book in question here? I leave it to you to decide…

I have to be honest but I think these holy book burnings are just stupid and reek of somebody that’s an attention-seeking troublemaker. I don’t think any religion should be held to a different standard to any other so FGS, stand up for freedom of speech/expression and allow ALL holy books to be burned without consequence or put a blanket ban on anyone doing it to any of the books. I’m not even religious and I find it completely disrespectful and, again, it’s somebody trying to incite trouble and conflict, which I think European countries have enough of without inviting more. There are other and better ways to express yourself and your frustrations. Plus, why on earth would you go to the effort to be granted asylum status in a country only to deliberately incur the wrath of a large portion of society who have form for carrying out their malicious threats? You’d be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life so it’s hardly worth it just to prove a point. As ever I defer to the experts on this subject, in this instance Robert Spencer;

”The ever-witless Daily Mail says that “Paludan’s protest in January soured relations between Turkey and Sweden.”
No. The Islamic outrage over Paludan’s protest soured relations between Turkey and Sweden. But as always, useful idiots in the West deflect the blame away from the jihadis, even as the jihadis threaten to murder them and destroy their societies.
Book-burning is a dirty business, redolent of the National Socialists, and I’d rather people read the Qur’an than burn it, but these protests are a matter of the freedom of expression. Without that freedom, a tyrant can do his evil unhindered and unopposed, and that is where the West is heading. Also, Denmark has now shown once again that terrorism works. Violent intimidation works. Threaten the Danes, and they’ll cave in forthwith. Nothing great about these Danes. And so they will get a great deal more terrorism, not less, because the jihadis can see that it works, and why should they abandon a winning strategy?
“So do not falter and cry out for peace when you have the upper hand, and Allah is with you…” (Qur’an 47:35)”

Mein Koran is a book of war and supremacism.
Read it before posting about ‘holy books’.
Unholy, evil, diabolic, jumbled, incoherent, intolerant, Jihading, irrational, and stuffed with sexual gluttony and slavery.

Burning this book is just ignorance and lacking in imagination.

I was once acquainted with a woman vicar of the C of E. In doing her rounds of the local religions she visited a mosque. On being given a copy of the Koran she was instructed not to hold it while menstruating, since if she did so she would defile it. She just couldn’t conceal her anger when she told her congregation of this.

I don’t fancy the chances of the Iraqi refugee in Sweden who burnt the Koran. Not with the amount of Muslims in that country. Is this some sort of bizarre attempt at being a martyr? The guy went to Sweden to gain asylum then behaves like a suicidal jackass! Give me strength. They’re already after him and anyone else who gets in the way. I’ll be expecting him to hit the headlines in due course, only for more sinister reasons.

”The video continues: “Know, my Muslim brother, you who live in Sweden, that Salwan’s action was not the first and will not be the last, unless you put an end to it by killing him. Know also that the Swedish police’s blood is a fair game for attack, just like drinking water. So shed their blood, kill their soldiers, hit their economy wherever they are. Do not underestimate the importance of killing them and fighting them.”

“If Allah saves you from them after you kill him [Momika],” the narrator advises, “go to another place, preferably a police center, and inflict a massacre on them. Let your goal be martyrdom and the spread of horror in the hearts of the infidels and hypocrites. If Allah decrees for you captivity or martyrdom, consider the reward [in the hereafter]; and know that all you have done was supporting the religion of Allah.”

No sympathy for stupid people who deliberately set out to provoke. And given that he’s fleeing a Muslim country he should know better than anyone the ramifications when he displays a special kind of stupid in public on numerous occasions, gets filmed and has his mug broadcast around the world so that now he has a target on his back from all angles…and he really thinks the Swedish police are going to continue protecting him because ‘freedom of speech’?? This is just one, probably of many more, incident of him being set upon. It’s not going to end well is it? Imagine not being able to leave the house without knowing where the next assault is going to come from? Hope it was worth it..

”Salwan Momika, an Iraqi refugee residing in Sweden, has reportedly been linked to multiple similar incidents. His most recent action was on July 31 when he, alongside another individual, desecrated the Holy Quran outside the Swedish parliament.
This act, protected under Sweden’s freedom of speech regulations, transpired at Mynttorget, a central square encompassed by governmental structures and the palace.
During the incident, Momika and Najem engaged in an extended and theatrical desecration of the Quran while employing a megaphone to provoke counterprotesters. According to reports, several individuals in the crowd responded with their own megaphones, resulting in the two men being largely drowned out by the counterprotesters.”

Totally agree. I can only cross my fingers scum such as this vile pig get their comeuppance whilst doing time. You don’t get to ruin somebody’s life, let alone a child’s, and then expect to get your handouts and your citizenship. F*ck that for ‘justice’!

”An Afghan asylum seeker has been jailed in Britain for the multiple rape of a 12-year-old Albanian schoolgirl with learning difficulties while living in a taxpayer-funded London hotel.
Sakhidad Ahadi was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment at Croydon Crown Court after pleading guilty to one count of rape and being convicted of a second count on the same victim between Dec. 22, 2022, and Jan. 1, 2023.
The 25-year-old, who initially claimed to be younger, was ordered to serve at least eight years behind bars before being considered for parole.
Ahadi was placed in the Queens Hotel in Crystal Palace, London after arriving in the U.K. and applying for asylum, claiming to be at risk of persecution following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.

His victim, along with her immediate family, was also assigned to the same hotel after traveling from Albania and crossing the English Channel to reach Britain.
Hotels have been frequently used by the U.K. Home Office to accommodate new arrivals into the country with over 50,000 migrants currently being housed in hotel accommodations across the country at a cost of over £6 million per day.
The court heard how the Afghan national had groomed the young girl and coaxed her into his room before raping her on at least two separate occasions.”

https://www.ukcolumn.org/article/nhs-foi-there-was-no-pandemic-in-the-scottish-borders

There was no pandemic in the Scottish Borders and…

“Vaccine’ efficacy on the death rate seems negative”

“Official chaos continues into the second vaccination year

In high summer 2022, it was reported that Borders General Hospital had cancelled routine operations because its staff were facing “extreme pressures”. The chief executive of NHS Borders, Ralph Roberts, said:

Our beds are fully occupied and our Emergency Department is exceptionally busy, with a number of people requiring admission.

However, just as we saw above with statements made in 2020, Accident & Emergency department attendance levels at that time were not unusual and were 13% below average. Overall admissions to hospital in the Borders were 27% below average.”

So, out and out lying.

https://www.ukcolumn.org/video/a-glimpse-into-cities-architecture-planning-and-control-with-leon-krier

“Recalling his work for the then Prince of Wales on the Poundbury new town development in Dorset, south-western England, Krier praises the King on his early efforts to challenge unsightly architecture and poor urban planning in Britain.  A few minutes later, he is equally confident in being highly critical of the King’s relationship with Klaus Schwab and what he describes as the modernists of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’. It is a revolution, Krier is quick to highlight, that is taking us towards a world dictatorship with a small group of people in control. Krier’s discussion with Brian Gerrish in this segment ends with comment on some of the dark artwork that is now appearing around the UK and globally.

Finally, Léon Krier comments on the visible UN control of planning worldwide; control which he identifies as a corporate takeover preparing us for a life in a continual state of emergency.”

I haven’t watched this yet but it looks interesting.

Judge Hummingbird had better specify what ‘improper treatment’ of this book is exactly.

Putting it on the floor would be one example. A woman holding it while menstruating would be another.

Is the judge concerned about the ‘improper treatment’ of other scriptures? The Bible. The Hindu Vedas. The Mayan Popul Vuh. The Buddhist Tipitaka. Surely if inclusivity is the order of the day there must be a ruling and a law for these. Just to avoid claims of discrimination.

Remember, the supposed “paradox of tolerance” is NOT a paradox at all. We are under no obligation to tolerate the intolerant, as they have by definition breached the terms of the agreement and are therefore no longer covered by it. Tolerance is NOT a suicide pact!
