The European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA) comes into force today, obliging “very large online platforms” to swiftly take down what unelected European Commission bureaucrats decide to define as ‘disinformation’.
As Laurie Wastell points out in the European Conservative, the DSA obliges online platforms to swiftly take down so-called disinformation. From today, the EC has at its disposal an aggressive enforcement regime, such that if Big Tech companies fail to abide by the EU’s ‘Strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation’, which requires swift censorship of mis- and disinformation, then they can be fined up to 6% of their annual global revenue, investigated by the Commission, and potentially even prevented from operating in the EU altogether.
So, who is to say if something is misinformation? In the case of social media platforms operating within the EU, the EC is the arbiter of that, since it is the Commission that will decide if platforms like X and Facebook are doing enough to combat it. (It is the EU’s executive body, the EC, that is invested by the DSA with the exclusive power to assess compliance with the Code and apply penalties if a platform is found wanting.)
And what kind of speech is the DSA expected to police? The Code defines disinformation as “false or misleading content that is spread with an intention to deceive or secure economic or political gain and which may cause public harm”. That sounds innocent and apolitical enough. Yet the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), which was launched by the EC in June 2020 and aims to “identify disinformation, uproot its sources or dilute its impact”, appears to adopt a much broader, deeply politicised understanding of the term “misleading content”.
Consider, for instance, some of the key “disinformation trends” listed in the EDMO’s recent 2023 briefing on disinformation in Ireland. They include “nativist narratives” that “oppose migration”, “gender and sexuality narratives” that touch on drag queens and trans issues as “part of a wider ‘anti-woke’ narrative that mocks social justice campaigns”, and “environment narratives” that criticise climate-change policies and Greta Thunberg.
Clearly, what is common to such narratives is not that they constitute disinformation in the sense outlined in the Code — that is, “false information intended to mislead”. Rather, they represent opposition by members of the public to unpopular policies favoured by European elites — in this case, mass migration, transgender ideology and Net Zero.
In the words of EC President Ursula von der Leyen, it is vital that companies censor disinformation of this kind to “ensure that the online environment remains a safe space”. Safe for whom, one wonders — politicians or citizens?
Well worth reading in full.

Lockdown was invented a long time before that, as a punishment for unruly prisoners. That alone speaks volumes.
Why would that fact get a thumbs down?
There’s been a flurry of downvotes (and opposing comments) over the past few days. 77th been busy?
There’s a very sad imbecile that calls itself “rational” who patrols the Daily Sceptic comment threads 24/7.
He/she/it does make the odd flurry of comments, but when they do, they just show their utter madness.
Could there be any greater indicator of a very sad and unstable life, than to spend your entire time trolling the internet in order to downvote comments you disagree with?
Hopefully they will soon tire of it.
There is more to life than sitting in your Mum’s basement trolling The Daily Sceptic.
Maybe their Pornhub subscription has lapsed.
Do not question the mysteries of the downvote.

Thank you for that link. A very interesting discussion if a tad long. I noted the point about the three big issues where denial and falsehood stand out: 1. denial of the lab leak 2. the denial of known early treatments that work, and 3. the safety and efficacy of the so-called vaccine.

I have been in lockdown in A&E a couple of times when a patient who had been stabbed was brought in and there were concerns that the assailant might arrive and similarly when someone had been shot in the hand whilst at traffic lights.
I am just glad that they didn’t decide to sacrifice virgins to appease the Covid gods.
We’d be in a hell of a fix if they did, as I understand they’re few and far between these days.
None within fifty miles of Boris.
They did, though, sacrifice many young White virgins in northern England to appease the God of racial diversity and religious tolerance. Tommy Robinson has alleged that one “P-Asian” even used a red-hot branding iron to put his mark on the backside of a young White English girl.
Whether this is true or not, some of these “P-Asians” are actually vile enough to do something like this.
Tommy Robinson is giving these UK “sacrifices” to “P-Asians” publicity in the US.
Quite so: there are few enough of those around as it is (according to a friend!).
“lockdown”. Where middle class people stay at home and working class people bring them things.
Overheard a conversation among a group of people in a coffee shop yesterday – one of the group asked about the governments attempts to get people back in the office working again instead of working from home – one of the group replied ‘Well, they can try but I’m not going back anytime soon’ the person who raised the question then said that its going to be difficult justifying working from home now that almost everyone else is going back to work as normal – to which the reply from the homeworker was that he would say that he couldn’t go back to the office to work because he was a diabetic – he would play on the possibilty that he is at higher risk from covid and can’t go back to the office to work – someone asked what his manager would say about it and his reply was that his manager probably wouldn’t like it but there was not much they could do about it.
The conversation went on and on about the subject of going back to the offcie to work – this group sounded like local council office workers and the gist was that they were going to remain homeworkers for as long as it takes even if it meant using other medical reasons unrelated to covid but as a possible excuse not to go back to the office again.
I get the distinct impression the there are some out there who have had a good lockdown and have thoroughly enjoyed the last 18 months of restrictions because it means remaining home while still on full pay and so they are keen to keep this going for as long as possible for there own personal benefit.
oh for sure, the bitching and moaning I hear from people being told they need to head back into the office is ridiculous.
Don’t expect the public sector to return to office work ever; the unions have sussed that they never need to work again.
Using diabetes as an excuse not to go back into the office is an insult to a former colleague (type 1 diabetes) and myself (type 2 diabetes plus autoimmune disease) who were seeing patients face to face over the past two years. It is also an insult to a former colleague who had to stop seeing patients because she had stage 4 cancer, from which she died in summer 2020.
My daughter in law has rheumatoid arthritis, has had to stop one of her medications because it tanks her immune system but has been seeing patients face to face in a hospital setting for several months.
Go carnivore. Dump carbs, sugar and you really don’t need veg, they contain leptins and oxylates, both of which are damaging. Indeed in the 18th century, the cure for Diabetes melitus was a diet of beef and water. And it works.
Sorted.
My wife went down with rheumatoid arthritis quite badly. Already on medication for heart failure, she was reluctant to take yet more drugs. She followed the advice of Dr John McDougall (US doctor) and cut out all dairy and eggs from her diet (I did likewise to show moral support). As promised, she started to see improvement after 10 days and now has had the RA at bay for several years. It’s always worth a try – it costs nothing and keeps you away from more poisons that the medical fraternity seem to rely on above all else.
The full pay WFHomers will be in the public sector as they don’t have to worry about where their wages come from. Lazy bastards
There are six world leaders pictured in the accompanying image. I believe that if you searched every village, town and city in the world, it would be impossible to find, gathered together in the one locality, a collection of six inadequate freakish types as what’s displayed in this photo.
Every element of mental inadequacy, confused sexual orientation, debauchery and sociopathic tendencies shines from this image. I really don’t think there are any parents anywhere that would leave their 5-year-old sons or daughters alone with either Biden or Trudeau.
There’s no way that this band of freaks, all at basically the same time, randomly reached the pinnacles of power in their respective countries.
Big finance pays to have these types put into office. Their electoral campaigns are funded and the controlled MSM give them very favourable media coverage. Any population in the West that thinks it has a democracy is only kidding itself.
Not at dinner time please.
If we don’t do something about these freaks that hold the reins of power across the world, we might in the very near future be not able to source the ingredients for dinners.
Did you notice that while COVID-19 and the plandemic was being wound-down in the UK media, the sabre rattling against Russia over Ukraine was being wound-up in equal measure?
A staged war as a stepping stone to introduce Digital Passports and then the New World Order’s digital currency, where the citizens will be completely controlled via what they will, and will not, be allowed to buy?
The digital currency will give them the power to limit people’s food purchases to genetically modified vegetables produced on a Bill Gates farm, or in one of his factories. And if you don’t show up for your regular gene serum booster shots, your ability to buy anything will be stopped until you do.
I think there’s room for one more….
Might the ropes be a little too humane? Perhaps piano wire and an insignificant drop would better denote the enormity of their vile crimes?
You’re calling Dungford a world leader?
It would have to be Lego world.
In case you didn’t notice (and no disrespect to a lovely lady like you Annie) but we are living in a fu*king plastic Lego world.
‘Dungford’ love it. A man with shit for brains.
Too funny, Annie, but you’re perfectly correct.
I wish to protest the absence of Scott Morrison from that collection. He more than qualifies as an inadequate freakish type.
I present the Cabal’s puppet, Scott Morrison, as he is off-camera.
As Fabio states follow the money…
June 2019: In its Annual Economic Report, the Swiss-based Bank of International Settlements (BIS), the ‘Central Bank of all central banks’, sets the international alarm bells ringing. The document highlights “overheating”
9 August 2019: The BIS issues a working paper calling for “unconventional monetary policy measures” to “insulate the real economy from further deterioration in financial conditions”
15 August 2019: Blackrock Inc. the world’s most powerful investment fund (managing around $7 trillion in stock and bond funds) issues a white paper titled “Dealing with the next downturn.” Essentially, the paper instructs the US Federal Reserve to inject liquidity directly into the financial system to prevent “a dramatic downturn.”
22-24 August 2019: G7 central bankers meet in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to discuss BlackRock’s paper along with urgent measures to prevent the looming meltdown. In the prescient words of James Bullard, President of the St Louis Federal Reserve: “We just have to stop thinking that next year things are going to be normal.”
15-16 September 2019: The downturn is officially inaugurated by a sudden spike in the repo rates (from 2% to 10.5%). ‘Repo’ is shorthand for ‘repurchase agreement’, a contract where investment funds lend money against collateral assets (normally Treasury securities).
17 September 2019: The Fed begins the emergency monetary programme, pumping hundreds of billions of dollars per week into Wall Street, effectively executing BlackRock’s “going direct” plan.
19 September 2019: Donald Trump signs Executive Order 13887, establishing a National Influenza Vaccine Task Force whose aim is to develop a “5-year national plan (Plan) to promote the use of more agile and scalable vaccine manufacturing technologies and to accelerate development of vaccines that protect against many or all influenza viruses.”
18 October 2019: In New York, a global zoonotic pandemic is simulated during Event 201, a strategic exercise coordinated by the Johns Hopkins Biosecurity Center and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
21-24 January 2020: The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting takes place in Davos, Switzerland, where both the economy and vaccinations are discussed.
23 January 2020: China puts Wuhan and other cities of the Hubei province in lockdown.
11 March 2020: The WHO’s director general calls Covid-19 a pandemic. The rest is history.
March 2020: The Fed hire BlackRock to manage the bailout package in response to the ‘COVID-19 crisis’.

So what to expect as we vector into 2022? More cattle-tagging, more digital matrix control and more misery for those poor souls trapped in nations captured by the Build Back Better for them cabal.
Thanks for sharing this article it puts into words exactly what my suspicions have been for some time. Good. I have an article now!
“what to expect as we vector into 2022?”
Santander going bust for starters.
Thank you for sharing. This is an excellent article (follow the link), and should be required reading and bookmarked for future reference!
The question is whether the coming effects of inflation and government debt, plus the fallout of effects from the failed “vaccines” will be blamed by the public on the lockdowns and government and pharma fraud, or whether they will swallow the New Narrative, that these “sacrifices” all came good and Sars 2 was defeated,
The public will mostly swallow the lie that it’s all “Because of Covid”.
The public will blame the “unvaccinated”.
There will be another “pandemic”. The people in charge will not let go, they are criminally insane and think they are doing good things. Soon, democratic elections will be “paused” as a luxury we cannot afford in the face of endless public health emergencies, climate crises, etc.
We have been here before. Many times.
“Burn the witch!”
The lessons of the Enlightenment have been burned.
We have entered a New Dark Age.
Sorry, it’s the way it is.
Every family for themselves.
Perhaps the only way out of this will be a REAL pandemic.
A grim anniversary, which I am marking in hospital while recovering from surgery. Because someone in a ward I was previously on tested positive for covid I am “self-isolating ” in side ward (as if I had any choice!), despite myself testing negative. In common with all the other patients I am not allowed any visitors. The nurses do their best, but it is not fun.
You have our sympathies, Virginia.
Get well soon!
Hope you are soon out and making a full recovery.
Never had so much damage been done by so few, to so many…
Staged pictures of ham actors supposedly collapsing with ‘covid’ on the streets of China were treated as genuine reports of the origins of a deadly pandemic by Western governments and media intent on causing mass panic in order to leverage political traction and facilitate economic embezzlement on a scalle never before witnessed.
Live videos of hundreds of fit young athletes collapsing on sports fields after being coerced into taking a deadly but ultimately useless bioweapon are completely ignored by these same governments and their media mouthpieces.
Lockdowns are not a “public health policy”. They are the means by which domestic governments, Tech giants, Big Pharma and the other foreign actors behind the 2020 globalist coup pressure their now subdued populations into submitting to their will.
The Tories and Labour have been off shoring UK jobs to China and selling off UK infrastructure and businesses to China for decades so why not adopt CCP political/social policies?
Boris and the Tories like the look of that social credit control system.
It is clear that policy over Covid was driven by these unelected and unaccountable, overpaid and intrusive inter governmental organisations. No one has voted for them and the voters cannot get rid of them.
A party that undertakes to NOT follow their “advice” (aka instructions) would do well at the polls.
Too many other aspects of policy are similarly driven and they all involve more restrictions on freedom, more government and more tax and borrowing. Why would we not call that communism?
This may have been posted before, but Bob Seely gives it both barrels in his speech at the Covid Forecasting and Modelling Westminster Debate on 18th Jan 2022. Primarily about modelling but mentions lockdowns as well. If more MPs speak out like this, the whole covid sh*tshow should be over (she says, whilst looking out for the piggy flying past the window). Really worth a listen anyway.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=sOM9jWijuH8
Yeah, right!
Did you notice that whilst “they” spoke out against the fraudulent modelling and the lockdown, “they”, in equal measure, upped the sabre rattling against Russia over Ukraine?
Seeing as “they” have seemingly failed to introduce “their” longed for Digital Passports on the back of the COVID-19 plandemic, could a staged war with Russia be just another instrument that is being created specifically to introduce these passports?
To go to war, the UK needs its citizens on-side. And at this time and place, what better way to get them on-side than to “admit they made a mistake” about locking the country down.
Perhaps “they” want us plebs to think like this:
So according to UK and US politicians, it would be unacceptable for Russia to invade Ukraine. How strange that they didn’t apply the same principal to their own invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq…
Psychopaths don’t do shame.
Spot on.
MSM is trying to make fun of people wanting to protect themselves with cheap and proven drugs. Ivermectin has been FDA approved for human use since 1996. It also beats Pfizer’s new wonder drug hands down, and costs next to nothing. Ivermectin doesn’t make tons of money. So they know the Covid shot is on its final gasp, so they take it add something different to it, rebrand under another name and charge 20 times what they would for ivermectin. I cannot wrap my head around this nonsense. When I explain this to my relatives they label me as crazy and ask me if I know better than science. I don’t make up these information out of my ass. All this information is true and proven. For some people it is near impossible for them to wake up. They are comfortable in their clown world life. If you want to get Ivermectin you can visit https://ivmpharmacy.com
Maher is a dick of the highest order, but he’s right on this:
https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/catastrophic-moral-crime-bari-weiss-bill-maher-say-quiet-part-out-loud-leftist-covid
Proportion of 18+ in England who are “unvaccinated”: 12%.
This includes 17% of fitness instructors aged 40-64.
Proportion among 18+ Muslims: 19%;
among 18+ of Afro-Caribbean background: 41%.
Interesting how much suss there is among British people of Afro-Caribbean descent. Possibly quite a few are aware of the situation in Martinique and Guadeloupe, even if those are French islands.
There is no way the authorities can portray 41% as a small minority.
Two years hence and the world has turned into a Chinese concentration camp, with shockingly scant resistance.
I’d liken it to turkey’s staging protests in September because they weren’t getting killed soon enough. And when these protests won them their wishes, they then demand they be plucked before being put to death.
The world needs a bit more aroo! They died in the end, but better to go down fighting than to slink like sheep to the pen… camp. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
They’re all on the sofa with their netflix and chill.
I’d like the Chinese a lot better if they’d stopped at giving us Chinese food and fireworks.
We import a huge amount of goods from China, including face masks. We imported the SARS-CoV-2 virus from China. We’re completely in thrall to the Chinese so why wouldn’t we import their lockdown policy?

I am under little doubt that we won’t see Lockdowns again.
They don’t need to. They’ve got what they wanted out of it. With health passes in place, they have the control over the population they were looking for.
The masses start being a bit unruly? Release a pathogen, bang the gong calling for everyone to come forward for their jabs and watch everyone step forward and into line like an army of Manchurian candidates.
They’ve got their mRNA technology in place which they’ve already explained is like uploading software to a hard drive. So new jabs can be prepared in a couple of months with the DNA sequence of the pathogen. Or at least that’s how the story goes.
The best written about LD and China is done by Michael Senger also producing a book. But in this very long twitter thread you get all the concentarted information about the biggest public health fraud ever LD, which was more dangerous than the virus

‘Previously regarded as impossible, ineffective and far too harmful to be ethically acceptable, humanity now faces…’
I say, that’s a tad harsh on humanity, isn’t it?
I would like to know more about what really happened in Italy. It seems to me it was the pictures/stories coming out of Italy that bumped Europe and others into Lockdown. Was it as bad as it was portrayed? If it was, why did nowhere else suffer the same?
It seems to have been due to their chaotic and rather inadequate healthcare arrangements, if my memory serves me correctly. Others may have more concrete information to offer?
I think Italy, like our world-beating NHS, suffers every winter with inadequate preparation.
The self destruct button of all self destruct buttons.
One reason why lockdowns in China were so much more effective than elsewhere is because they are facilitated by the Chinese built environment.
A typical Chinese citizen lives in an apartment with only one way in or out, in a tower block with only one way in or out, in a xiaoqu (gated community) with only one entrance and one exit, meaning that a coupld of security guards can lock down 20,000 people.
That’s about the same as the population of my nearest town, which occupies more than 2 square miles (it’s a New Town, and therefore low-density by UK standards). Enforcing a Chinese-style lockdown there would likely take at least a battalion’s worth of soldiers!
