Met Police Chief Mark Rowley's mealy-mouthed defence of jihad chants on the streets on London is just an excuse for the fact that the police are powerless in the face of marches on this scale.
Rishi Sunak today told police he expects them to tackle extremism "head-on" amid a furious row with Met Chief Mark Rowley, who defended allowing chants of "jihad" saying it "has a number of meanings".
The new head of the Metropolitan Police has said the only acceptable additions to police uniforms are poppies, Help for Heroes wristbands and the police memorial badge.
