Thanks so much Richard, that was exactly what I was looking for.

It is a yet further scandalous aspect of the authoritarian country in which we now live that it is nigh on impossible for most people to actually find out what the law says. And even if a few find it, most of them will find the language impenetrable.

The law also appears slipshod and haphazard. The assumption must be that "Tier 4" equals lockdown, although the draftsman obviously didn't bother to deal with that .

In any event, having read it I am much happier. I have a relative who will shortly be travelling overseas and she has secured a place working at a voluntary centre. She has a message from them confirming this, but she was worried that somehow this might not qualify as a legal exception because it is unpaid. But the Regulations expressly include voluntary work. I am inclined to suggest to her that she print off this Regulation and highlight the relevant passage to show anyone daft or power-crazy enough to try to stop her at Heathrow.

And as for coming back, she'll worry about that nearer the time.

Thanks again!

What I am keen to find is precisely what the law says about the form you apparently need to complete when leaving the country verifying the "legal" reason for travel.

Many thanks!

I drove, via the eurostar, recently. The UK authorities didn't ask anything about my reason for travel. The French border guards asked a little about why and where but it was no interrogation.

Pretty simple.

What about PCR Tests when driving and using the Eurotunnel?
Did they request it?
If yes, what did you have to show to them? Where? At Folkestone?
This is becoming really wrong. No one can ask you to see any proof of any medical condition you might have, let alone if you are in your vehicle, and even less for a flu-like virus with 100% survival rate for healthy people.

Yes - at entry onto the site (the ticket'ish booths), at UK control and at French control.

They took a quick glance at the .pdf on my phone, that's all.

Yes, at Folestone. Calais was unattended, everyone just drove straight off.

I'm afraid that they can, and will.

Did you ever fake a note from your parents to get you out of something at school?
