It's human instinct.
As a first explanatory example, the instinct to spread your hand when you feel you are falling comes from the millions of years/generations perhaps stems from the time when our ancestors , monkees , lived in trees, And if you fall from a tree there is a chance to grasp a twig or branch reflexively to slow your fall. But, in the modern era, the instinct is less effective, esp. when crashing onto flat stone or concrete.
When crashing onto a hard, flat surface, the instinct to spread your hand instinct makes a scaphoid fracture more likely. It seems that Mother Nature did not envisage falling off a bike at 2 mph, but was more concerned with falling from a tree which creates an impact speed, say, of 30 mph. Such fractures takes ages to mend and may/do leave permanent disability. So this indicates that Mother Nature is not necessarily a very good guide to minimizing harm.
So of course we can intrinsically (instinctively ) understand the instinct to isolate ourselves in the cupboard if a novel virus arrives. But that level of understanding does not make it correct. And that's the link to lockdown skeptics.
We all intrinsically understand the urge to isolate and chastise a powerful civilisation when it 'picks on' (what a phrase that is!) a less powerful civilisation. Some/many would say that is the case with the current conflict in the Middle east, between Russia and Ukraine, ostensibly.
But sensible skeptics would pause and say 'who are the protagonists here', and may reasonably conclude as America has already admitted , the war is a Proxy war between NATO and Russia.
The reverses the A is picking on B morality theme, since sensible skeptics would confirm that NATO is the powerful entity in that discussion.
So once again our immediate instincts are actually questionable in the bigger view. And now you know how Vladimir Putin thinks! To him this is all about fair play for Russia.
You forgot to claim that Russia was in imminent danger of attack by Ukraine.
Or perhaps NATO?
Ah so you admit Russia has invaded Ukraine.
Russia has invaded Russian speaking parts of what the UN regards as Ukraine, to put a stop to violence from the right wing fascists, who almost got control of that country but for the action to put an abrupt stop to their abuse. I'm very proud indeed to 'admit' that, of course.
Well the Russians are famous for it's legal system. Almost as much as the tendency to jail dissenters.
Be careful Snootski, a careless phrase (perhaps already written) from you may get you jailed for referencing the invasion.
Are you now saying North Wales has invaded Ukraine?
Or it is illegal to say "Russian Invasion of Ukraine" in Wales.
