The Times today says that 'Lockdowns are unlikely to be needed again, government scientific advisers have said, as official figures showed a clear fall in coronavirus cases...  Even normally cautious scientists said that that the time of draconian restrictions had probably passed...  Professor Neil Ferguson, once nicknamed "Professor Lockdown" and the first to call for repeated periods of restrictions, said the epidemic was "going to transition quite quickly in a few months to be more something we live with and manage through vaccination rather than crisis measures"...  Sir John Bell, regius professor of medicine at Oxford University, who has advised ministers on vaccination and testing, said: "We're past the period of a need for lockdowns because of the vaccine.  In terms of severe disease and death, it's pretty clear to me that vaccines are working really well.  The immunity from these vaccines may even get better over time."'

But however: 'Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, said this week that failing to wear a mask on the Tube should be made a criminal offence.  There are 400 enforcement officers patrolling London's transport network in an attempt to force people to wear masks.  "We are trying to lobby the government to allow us to bring in a bylaw, so it will be the law again, so we can issue fixed penalty notices and we can use the police service and British Transport Police to enforce this..."'

It's nice to know that there's never a shortage of people who, regardless of the scientific establishment, are eager to tighten up legal enforcement and the criminalisation of freethinking Londoners.  It's always nice to know that Mr Khan is thought of as a successor to the equally proscriptive and anti-freedom Keir Starmer as leader of the Labour party.

Just after he made his announcement, I wrote to Mr. Khan asking him to identify the evidence he relied upon as justification for the re-imposition of face masks on London transport.

No reply so far...

Another point - when will 'compulsory' face masks on the underground end?  By Christmas?  In a year?  Or perhaps simply when Sadiq Khan feels like it?

If you think Khan is bad, he's better than Drakeford or Sturgeon.

Currently Wales is "Masks and social distancing haven't gone away because Coronavirus hasnt gone away".

Realistically it means masks everywhere except pubs for another year or more before public pressure forces a change.

He passed social distancing down to the businesses and their insurance....so it remains.

All down to people like Sophie Howe and Eluned Morgan who are those fed into the system by and dependent on the global cabal.

They're not intelligent enough for a sinister global cabal.

We have thick people following dodgy advisors.
