who'd a thunk it, one of those Pfizer thingamies seems to work! Reduces risk by 89%, paxlovid/retinovir works on covid19. have to wait and see on this one... no deaths in treatment grpoup. ten in placebo group.

protease inhibitors have been studied  for 20 years, we studied them in silico when I was in Cambridge (years ago) look it up, but in silioco means using big compuers (my line of work.) i may have said this before but I think we got this thing licked now, please keep your fear, anger  and bile to yourself, Pandemics bring out the very worst in cretins. So it's done deal guys, covid19 is as good as cured.

It would be useful if the NHS would do a study into how well generic 3CL protease inhibitors work at protecting against covid.  This would have the potential for saving vast amounts of money, and generic drugs tend to have well understood safety profiles (because they tend to have been around for the 20+ years for the original patents to have expired).

I'd note that there have already been some NHS studies into generic 3CL protease inhibitors, but these studies were done on the impact on reducing severe covid.  The Pfizer studies indicate that it is very important that a 3CL protease inhibitor is given on the onset of symptoms; if you wait until serious covid appears they don't work.

Can anyone think of a generic drug that behaves as a 3CL protease inhibitor?
