Sinister aspect of NHS registration for Covid Pass?

Reluctantly trying to register for a Covid Pass to visit Spain I am very concerned as to what lies behind the NHS Online registration scheme.

After entering email, password, nhs number, dob, postcode etc it asks for driving license or passport image. Having done that it requires you to make a live video, reading out the numbers it shows on screen.

When you cancel that and go to the help section it explains that you can alternativel register using your ID from your GP surgery.

Either the NHS / software designers are poor and failed to explain that alternative at the outset or they are setting out to create a database which includes video and audio that could later be used for facial voice recognition........

I see that as very sinister - what are your thoughts.

There is a reason for this procedure, it's a subtle and well thought out plan; clearly on-one in government is capable of thinking of this method, they are too thick. So it must be the work of a security consultant.

So pour yourself a cup of tea and concentrate. When you applied for your passport or driving license, trust was established by having the photos signed by a doctor or priest/engineer who has known you for years.

That person is known as a trusted third party and his involvement establishes a trust chain so it can be made certain that the person in the photo is really you. This prevents spoof applications.

Due to the large numbers involved, this cumbersome and costly procedure had to be curtailed for the covid pass, but it was still necessary to establish a trust chain, and this is how they do it.

you provide your passport image (which has been previously verified in a trust chain.)

And you provide a video of yourself reading out a fresh one-off number they gave you. An image from the video is checked against the passport image using facial recognition software. This way, they know the film is from real time, not a past recording, hence the reading of the number, so now they know that you are the actual passport holder, hence the chain of trust can be extended to the vaccine passport without needing another trusted third party. They know it's your passport and they know you, the real passport holder, is making the application.

And that's how it is done the way it is. It usually takes several goes at the video before a good enough sample can be obtained.

It is intended to feed us all into a global database. Obviously there is no way of challenging this as the govt will claim it is for a legitimate purpose.

If Boris is sincere about living with Covid then the NHS app has to be removed and all data collected from it (the purpose of which has evidently gone) should be deleted per normal data protection rules.

Security, or the lack of, perhaps. Is it doing what the DVLA do for photocard updates, in that they offer the option of shelling out £14 to copy it over from the Passport Office, if they have a valid photo on a standard Passport? Do they use a one-off security code to log in to your account, as the HMRC do for on-line tax returns, or banks use to validate secure keys etc?

I think you are right to be wary of the possibility of abuse of the system, in whatever way, either official or criminal.
