I have just been in to the local chemist. There is a prominent notice facing anyone going in, which says in effect "Masks must be worn" but no-one in the shop, staff or customers, was wearing a mask. I am wondering why the notice was there.

Inertia. Probably they just didn't get the memo. A few shops around here held out almost into this year but even those have gone now.
Haven't been near a hospital or clinic since 2020 so not sure about those - dentist is now mask- free apart from the dentist and nurse.

Old habits die hard! Tear the notice down, wear it as a mask and enter shop. That will perhaps drive the message home.
