Regarding the latest header article (posting here because the software wouldn't take my comment on the front page): so it's 772.9 cases per 100000 unvaccinated 40-49yos? Quoting 4 significant figures without a confidence interval when I am quite sure they don't know the size of the unvaccinated population with 95% confidence even to 2 significant figures, let alone 4, is ridiculous.
Seriously, would an undergraduate be allowed to get away with this? It sounds more like an estate agent's clerk scribbling that house prices have risen by 1.328% in an area in the last six months.
A quick look found an estimate for the number of unvaccinated people aged 16+ in Britain (GB+NI) of 5.7m on 22 Sep 2021. There is no way that anyone serious would bang the table and express confidence at the 95% level that the actual figure is between 5.65m and 5.75m.
Meanwhile, from the same article: "the number of first doses given to people aged 70 to 79 and 80 and over is greater than the estimated size of the population for both groups."
Clearly Comrade Stakhanov at the local health board must have overperformed his norms and is well worth the little considerations he is receiving from Big Pharma.
Are they chucking boxes of vaccines away, or letting them get dusty somewhere, and filling in forms saying they've injected people with them? That does sound like the public sector we know and love.
