The BBC is under pressure to play a Christmas number one contender parodying Keir Starmer’s winter fuel cuts by ‘Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers’. The Telegraph has more.
The track by Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers, which mocks Labour’s decision to strip millions of pensioners of the benefit, is topping music downloads charts with a week to go before Christmas Day.
However, the musicians behind the hit claim their campaign to get it to number one is being thwarted by radio stations refusing to play it.
The BBC is now being urged to prove its impartiality by giving airtime to the charity single, which is raising money for causes supporting the elderly.
Greg Smith, the Tory MP for Mid Buckinghamshire, said it was “an absurdity that the BBC who like to present themselves as being allegedly impartial should not play a song that is selling so well – and could even be number one”.
He told the Telegraph: “Satire is often the most powerful check on power – and this song is highlighting the seriousness of Labour’s political choices to give bumper pay deals to their union paymasters whilst stripping some of our poorest pensioners from vital funds to heat their homes this winter.”
The track, Freezing This Christmas, is based on Mud’s 1974 festive number one Lonely This Christmas.
The lyrics read: “It’ll be freezing this Christmas, without fuel at home, it’ll be freezing this Christmas, while Keir Starmer is warm. It’ll be cold, so cold, without fuel at home, this Christmas.”
The song finishes with the line: “Merry Christmas, Keir, I hope you can sleep at night.”
It was created by Chris Middleton, a 33-year-old freelance writer and marketer, with the help of Dean Ager, a 51-year-old Rat Pack tribute singer.
The single is already topping the EE Big Top 40, which ranks songs based on downloads and Apple Music streams.

He will do more than freeze your granny baby. Like Uri Geller said. I will do more than bend your spoons. He is the bankers choice and you aren’t getting rid of him in a hurry.
Like Dylan said, pull down your windows let the good times roll. There’s a party going on behind the grassy knoll.
The greatest magic trick under the sun. perfectly executed skilfully done. If you want to get a flavour of the evil that we face then Murder Most Foul by Bob Dylan is a good gateway drug.
The day that they killed him someone said to me son, the age of the Antichrist has only just begun. We are decades into this being tampered with by very malevolent forces. Feel yourself lucky if you are able to see it now. They are operating with a quickening pace in terms of launching control weapons that they haven’t even admitted exist. There is a widescale test operation underway because they are about to do their usual thing – the drill goes live. They will kill you in a minute if you aren’t ready for them.
These unidentified craft appearing over certain connurbations and sometimes appearing to release certain substances and then disappearing towards the sea and going underwater. This is a harbinger of great evil and it is happening now.
2TK will soon find out what it is like to be hated by an entire country……
The train drivers and junior doctors will still love him as they sit counting all the cash he has given them. Can’t think of any others though.
Oh no. What’s gone on here? Mark Dolan’s got the sack;
”GB News have made the decision to permanently relieve me of my duties at the channel
I will speak publicly about this in due course.”

He’s just interviewed the untouchable Tommy, while he is being held as a political prisoner…..that can’t be allowed.
Isabel Webster too. I think there’s only going to be Patrick Christys left worth watching at this rate;

I am not overly fussed about Isobel Webster but with Kay Burley looking for a new home, I bloody well hope she is not going to be replaced by her. For me, it is Eamonn Holmes who needs the boot from the morning line up. I would rate Mark Dolan as just ok and much prefer the younger cohort like Christys, Leo and Grimes. Neil Oliver leaves a great hole in Sunday evening.
I don’t even watch GBN. I just see clips here and there that have been uploaded to social media. I’ve always liked what Patrick Christys has had to say, totally forgot about Darren Grimes because he’s another good one. I was just curious as to why Mark got sacked but I suppose he’ll share the reason all in good time.
For me, the producers lost credibility when they got rid of Dan Whootten and the others and brought Boris bloody Johnson in ( has he actually started the job yet? ) Talk about Stockholm Syndrome. The man should be being tried for crimes against humanity, along with the rest of them, not given a prime time TV slot.
Not a great fan of Dolan myself and loved Fox’s talk down calling him a cos play freedom fighter. That said, he often had Neil Hamilton on the show who questions, like he does the Lockdowns. But Hamilton often questions the Agenda 2030, not just on cost, but on the evidence of computer modelling just like Godfrey Bloom, maybe that is one of the reasons they’ve axed Dolan. We know OFCOM is tearing them a new one over a barrel.
Surprised it was Dolan that interviewed Tommy. He is a controlled opposition figure.
Is isn’t metaphorical or figurative. They are coming to eat you it is harvest time. If you can’t be aware of that then you won’t be aware of anything. The earth has produced the right number for a soul harvest. All the confusion and entertainment was meant to keep you passive. They will eat you.
There is plenty of meat on me. I remember when I was going on holiday in Turkey, this big Bernard Manning type, full of tattoos told me they’ll turn you into a Kebab.
It is sad to see GB News being put under pressure and captured by the deep state. They want to survive but need to make a stand at some point and not surrender to Ofcom and the establishment.
I am not sure why you believe that and wonder if you actually watch it. Yes, due to statements made by certain people they could not risk the extremism branding particularly from an activist ofcom. I believe they are better without Laurence Fox, but sadly Calvin got dragged down as well. Dan Wootton was boringly obsessed with Harry and Meghan so pleased he has gone as Patrick is stratospherically better. Try watching Ben Leo, Alex Armstrong, Rene (can’t remember how to spell surname) and Darren Grimes as well as so many others and then tell me they are captured by the deep state.
Why did they get rid of Steyn, and Fox just for saying he woudn’t shag someone. They hardly ever mention the jabs these days and the climate debate is similar to the BBC….They argue over the cost but not the substance. Ben is ok who is not scared to discuss anything but the schedule never seems to cover the horrors of the gene therapy jabs. Lewis might mention it on Headliners but that is about it.
there was a letter signed by Drs mentioned on here last week; did they cover it, no! Also there is radio silence on when the PM knew about the stabber of three girls was an Islam convert.
But I agree Dan Wotton was much better when not banging on about H&M. As for the rest of the Royal parasites, there is no criticism on GBN. If I bumped into Charles I’d ask him does he intend to own nothing and be happy!
There was discussion yesterday from Matt Goodwin about what Starmer knew and when, which mightily upset the socialist on the panel. Some people seem to think that Covid is all there is to talk about and even this site can get too hung up tbh. I never really understand why people who didn’t get jabbed seem the most upset about it. Even Bev Turner has managed to move on and knows there are other important things to focus on at the moment. Steyn was in trouble around the world and Fox was starting to go from someone I had time for to showing some weird behaviour. Remember, TPTB are desperate to shut this channel down and unfortunately some casualties are needed to enable them to get at least some stuff out there. There is no point dying in the ditch over a mildly offensive comment and being shut down.
