According to the latest British Social Attitudes report, the number of people surveyed in 2022 who confess to feeling “a little prejudiced” against trans people has almost doubled in the last three years. The Telegraph has the story.
Prejudice towards trans people has doubled in three years in the wake of the J.K. Rowling cancel culture row, a survey has revealed.
One in three people describe themselves as prejudiced towards trans people – double the number of people in 2019, according to the British Social Attitudes (BSA) report published on Thursday.
National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) has been conducting the annual survey of what people in Britain think about a wide range of social and political issues since 1983.
NatCen said that while social attitudes have become increasingly liberal, people’s self-declared views about trans people are an outlier.
Britons were asked if they were either “very prejudiced”, “a little prejudiced” or “not prejudiced” towards transgender people.
Twenty seven per cent of people surveyed in 2022 identified as “a little prejudiced” – a record high and almost double the result of 14% in 2019.
Those that described themselves as “very prejudiced” also increased from 2% in 2019 to 6% in 2022. In contrast the number of people describing themselves as “not prejudiced at all” towards trans people dropped dramatically from 82% in 2019 to 64% in 2022.
To my mind, this clearly demonstrates that the suppression of gender critical views, particularly on social media, and the smearing of anyone who disagrees with trans rights activists as a ‘bigot’ and a ‘transphobe’, has had the opposite of its intended effect.
The clear lesson here is that if trans rights activists want to advance their cause, they should set out their stall in the public square and engage with people like J.K. Rowling, Kathleen Stock and Helen Joyce in open discussion and debate.
Screaming and shouting at your opponents, no-platforming them, reporting them to the police, trying to get them fired, etc. obviously isn’t working.
But, of course, the lesson the trans rights activists will take from the findings of the British Social Attitudes Survey is that they need to double down on these tactics.

Good news at last!
I don’t (knowingly) know any “trans” people (whatever they are). My vague understanding is that a fair few of them are probably pretty disturbed and ought to get some kind of psychotherapy type help or whatever works for them to accept the world as it is and move on – assuming that their “trans”-ness is limited to that, then I don’t think I would say I was “prejudiced” against them (whatever that means) – I mean I think they should get help but I don’t think I disapprove of them on moral grounds or anything just for thinking they are “trans”. Probably that would get me thought of as Literally Hitler for not loving them all to bits and wanting to worship their “trans”-ness – and this is where the “prejudice” starts. I am naturally hostile (not prejudiced, because that implies judging someone without knowing them) to people who tell me what language I should use, try to get me fired from my job, get my speech suppressed, get laws passed to make it illegal for me to say that these people are ill, need help and that you can’t change your sex. I have no idea what % of people who consider themselves “trans” tick all of those boxes, or whether they are misrepresented by the usual self appointed minority of attention seeking fascists. Special hostility is reserved for people who are not “trans” and do not have close “trans” family members or friends, who nevertheless use these issues to get off on imposing their supposed views on others.
I freely admit to being an intolerant and prejudiced bigot – I also steadfastly insist that I’m not a hypocrite about it, unlike the #BeKind leftwaffe
I suppose now I would maybe be on my guard if I knew a person thought of themselves as “trans”, because of all the shouting that has been done.
As so often, I think the language has been distorted. I try to treat people as I find them and do not believe I “discriminate” against people because of immutable characteristics. But do I size people up based on those characteristics, and am I on guard in case some of the negative things I associate with the group in X turn out to be applicable to that person? Absolutely. Doesn’t everyone? I mean, some pit bull terriers are doubtless lovely, but I don’t stick my hand in their jaw before it has been established beyond all doubt that the dog in question is a good’un. Oh dear, I’ve compared people to dogs now….
Ah yes, speaking of people and dogs…

I would assume those people are loonies and steer well clear. But then I am “prejudiced”.
95% mentally ill.
4% cheats.
1% pisstakers
Probably. I would like to know how many of these people truly wanted to agitate for all these supposed “rights” they have been denied, before the whole thing was whipped up by grifters.
That’s a good start but I think the list is as follows:
Perhaps they will try harder and it will escalate to physical violence against them?
We’ll see that people are getting more annoyed. They’ll see the 2% to 6% and claim a 200% increase in bigotry.
To me the questions were weak and woolly so the answers can be viewed either way. Designing well-phrased questions is half the battle.
can be viewed either way – very appropriate in the circumstances
It does seem strange (or perhaps not) that this research company doesn’t seem to understand basic principles of questionnaire design.
If the participants were made to watch this 2min snapshot which demonstrates just how broken and messed up young people ( and ‘transhausen syndrome by proxy’ mothers ) who make up the ‘Transtifa’ hostiles movement are then they’d have no hesitation in clicking ”very prejudiced’.

I know that:
There are only 2 sexes.
Sex is determined at conception.
It is impossible to change sex.
Am I prejudiced against trannies? If I am, how is that prejudice a bad thing?
is it something to do with a certain prejudices of the mind towards some other people which some/many/most/but not all people may be “guilty” of at times versus practical prejudice / discrimination and unkindness with real world consequences?
“To my mind, this clearly demonstrates that the suppression of gender critical views, particularly on social media, and the smearing of anyone who disagrees with trans rights activists as a ‘bigot’ and a ‘transphobe’, has had the opposite of its intended effect.”
No, no, no Toby.
The intended effect is to create animosity.
No animosity or ‘prejudice’ = no hobby.
The Transvestite troops will be delighted at the results of this survey.
It’s the standard Lefty MO, isn’t it?
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
The wording is loaded. ‘Prejudiced’ is a negative term. A lot of people will not want to admit to being even a ‘little prejudiced’ about anything! Different wording could result in a far higher percentage!
Can one be prejudiced of something that doesn’t exist? I’m a realist; I refute the existence of ‘trans’ individuals. That said, I’m certainly prejudiced against violent demanding misogynist psychotic sex pests. Great to see some evidence of a growing fightback against these narcissist social nuisances and their fetishes
Good point!!
I have often fantasised that someone in the public eye will start a ‘Fight Back’ movement or an ‘Enough!’ movement. I always remember a Teaching Assistant being sacked because she had told her students that, as regards sex/gender (I’m not going to separate them as I was instructed to in my Sociology A Level from the 70s), ‘there are some people who are unfortunately born with indeterminate sex organs and have genuine difficulties’, but that (paraphrasing …) girls were girls and boys were boys. Time to stop the shrieking. Time to stop the brainwashing of our children.
Dumb question which can really elicit a sensible reply isn’t it….?
“are you very, little, or not at all, prejudiced towards trans-people…?”
No nuance..no way to make a comment….
Most people aren’t prejudiced towards anyone with a ‘different’ lifestyle…as long as it’s private and between consenting adults….most of us generally don’t care and are frankly bored with being hit over the head with being made to care…
….what I’m fed up with and abhor is the assault on our children and schools, chopping bits of children, pretending men (with all their tackle) who rape women, are treated as women, simply because they say they are…
..the same goes for men who pretend to be women to enter women’s sports and spaces…
…the obvious censorship of alternative opinions …the ‘outing’ and cancellation of the baying mobs going after anyone who doesn’t want to join in.….
….the truly pathetic capitulation of MSM, Government, industry …all of the establishment in fact…the trans fu***ing flag nonsense……etc..etc…
It’s the total lunacy associated with this subject that I’m very, very, very prejudiced against…
Which can’t’ elicit a sensible reply!!
…or maybe they are and the objective was always to foment division and distraction rather than ‘transgender rights.’
