Mother Banned from Playground After Voicing Concerns About Trans Identity Lessons

by Toby Young
13 April 2025 1:00 PM

A mother has been banned from her daughter’s primary school playground after complaining about transgender identity lessons. She raised concerns about the school teaching 11 year-old children that “transgender identity” is a protected characteristic. The Telegraph has the story.

Karina Conway, 42, was ordered to stay away from the playground before being told eight months later she could come back if she agreed not to post anything negative about the school online. …

She criticised teachers at Sunnyside Spencer Academy in Beeston, Nottingham, for affirming the trans identities of children as young as nine.

Ms Conway claims that after staging a protest in 2023 outside the school alongside Kellie-Jay Keen, a prominent women’s rights activist, teachers called the police, but she had left by the time they arrived.

She was banned from the school a few months later, in September 2024, for a period of four months after being accused of using nasty language towards a member of staff, “smirking” at a teacher and for making “vexatious” complaints.

She first raised a complaint after learning that the school was teaching students that a person’s transgender identity was a protected characteristic.

The Equality Act 2010 states that a person must not be discriminated against because of “gender reassignment”, not specifically identity.

In the Act, gender reassignment means “proposing to undergo, undergoing or having undergone a process to reassign your sex”.

The school was also showing students sex education material that Ms Conway felt was too graphic. …

She said: “Schools are meant to teach in a non-partisan way and surely a mum pointing out that two plus two is four not five is a good thing. … This trust is silencing the voices of parents who know sex is real and when it matters, it really matters.”

Ms Conway said she had only wanted the school to do the right thing and “teach the truth”.

She said the school had actually accepted there were some problems with the way they were interpreting trans identity.

She said: “Before my ban the trust wrote to me and admitted ‘there were some factual errors in the interpretation of protected characteristics’, in fact they thank me for bringing it to their attention but then go on to tell me if I continue to talk to them about it, it will be through trust solicitors.

“I cannot understand why they think they can attempt to intimidate parents in this way.”

In July 2023, before she was banned, an Ofsted inspector visited the school and Ms Conway took the opportunity to speak with them and raise her concerns.

The inspector advised her to make a complaint but nothing happened.

Ms Conway then decided to submit a subject access request to Ofsted asking for all correspondence pertaining to her family between itself, the school and Spencer Academies Trust, which runs the school.

The document shows that in a “pre-inspection” call with the head teacher the school said Ms Conway was a “parent expressing [she] does not want her child to be exposed to gender identity and has transphobic views”.

Worth reading in full.

They can and do intimidate parents in this way because their theory about schools is that they’re day-prisons for children who thus cannot possibly escape from adults who want to talk about LGBQWERTY sex acts to them and nothing else.

I misread that as ‘LGBQWERTY sex attacks’…

Or maybe you just mistyped it 🙂

Fascism. Queer-Trans fascism being forced unto a society. Violence, coercion, threats, terror. And to think this intolerant Nazism started out in the 1980s as ‘we want to get married because we love each other’. Yeah arselings. Now a girl is a boy. Child porn is everywhere and soon Men will be able to have sex with pre-teenage boys.

By chance I visited the primary school premises where my children were educated some thirty years ago. There were changes. There used to be corridor and classroom decoration about “Global Warming” and Operating Noah to “Save The Planet” (especially the animals) from rising sea levels. The rainbow was symbolic, paradoxically, of “No Floods Ever Again”. Thirty years on the same corridor proudly displays the rainbow flag, but it is clearly the LBGT+ symbol and exhortations to “be kind” to the gender-confused. Also the “reading material” has changed in the syllabus. Although the objective, reasonably, is to develop language skills, the material is all DEI. The year 6 required reading was “The Rosa Parks Story. The history lessons even in Year six were about the evils of Nazism and is the Slave Trade. No mention of Stalin or Pol Pot or Mao Tse Tung! It’s even worse if you are a teacher rather than a parent: you are grilled on what you think not on what you teach.

And this is the problem. Children, especially those of primary school age, are not ‘gender confused’ unless they’re told they are. They don’t need to be told this stuff as they cannot understand it. Schools have no business teaching/indoctrinating like this, none whatsoever.

But how did all of this gender identity nonsense begin? What are its roots and who is responsible? The psychiatrists, sexologists, physicians, surgeons: Magnus Hirschfield, Havelock Ellis, Alfred Kinsey, John Money et al

What is the common denominator?

Kinsey too. I think there’s a lot of messed up minds and perversion behind much of this. Then those original perverts/child mutilators have paved the way and enabled more perverts/unethical doctors to jump aboard. There’s a fair amount of crossover between paedophilia/paraphilias/sexual deviancy and the trans agenda. That’s not to say that regular trans people are not fully capable of being decent human beings that just want to be left alone to get on with their lives. They’re just not the ones exploiting the woke agenda in order to indulge their fetishes or carry out their crimes that we read about in the papers.

Meanwhile back in the quaint unsophisticated world of six decades ago, if memory serves right teachers of 11-year olds focussed on preparation for the eleven-plus and taking a break morning and afternoon while we did our thing unsupervised at playtime.

That’s all there was to it. The first inklings of adult life were picked up the following year from the higher years at the Big School. By the sixth form, the more advanced students had begun pairing off – all with the opposite sex, bar two outliers who in hindsight were two of a kind.

The absurdities of gender identity lay decades into the future. Bring back childhood and just let nature take its course.

Assuming acceptance of transgender identity matters is considered by its advocates to be ‘politically correct thinking’ and others are opposed to the use of law and politics to introduce this matter to our society, schools may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination:

406
Political indoctrination.
(1)
The [F1local authority], governing body and head teacher shall forbid—

(a)
the pursuit of partisan political activities by any of those registered pupils at a maintained school who are junior pupils, and

(b)
the promotion of partisan political views—

[F2(i)]
in the teaching of any subject in the school [F3(in the case of a school in England), or]

[F4(ii)
in the teaching of any aspect of a curriculum provided in the school under the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act 2021 (in the case of a school in Wales)]

(2)
In the case of activities which take place otherwise than on the school premises, subsection (1)(a) applies only where arrangements for junior pupils to take part in the activities are made by—

(a)
any member of the school’s staff (in his capacity as such), or

(b)
anyone acting on behalf of the school or of a member of the school’s staff (in his capacity as such).

The school say she has “transphobic views” but from what I read all she has said is that her children shouldn’t be taught about “transgender identity”. How is that anything “phobic”? It’s not hatred, it’s merely concern.

Since when has  “smirking” at a teacher been an excuse to persecute someone? Utter, utter insanity; even Orwell couldn’t conceive of this.

Banning people and banning things seems like a crutch for the insecure, half baked nit picking nonentities and drivelling miserable puritans. A True, well founded, confident and assured approach to life has no need of banning anything its values and virtues will speak for themselves and push aside all the grovelling ridiculous platitudes of the people lost in the devious mists of so called modern thinking.
This week my wife and myself have walked around Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor and we have just got back from a cycling trip on the Tarka trail, otherwise we have been gardening in our North Devon Plot, if you immerse yourself in the natural world and base your life on nature you can soon see where the ridiculous nonsense lies in our modern World.

It is a parent’s responsibility and right to evaluate what is being taught to their children and equally their right to raise concerns when they have them. To try to suggest otherwise is simply immoral. Parents are the people responsible for the upbringing of their children and not some half-educated graduate teacher who in most cases knows only the school, college, school trackway; hardly the best people to teach are they with no real world experience?

As ever, the British ‘education’ system is open to all views as long as they align with the narrow narrative being pushed by the said ‘education’ system and British establishment.

I started watching Pulse, a new medical drama on Netflix. Within minutes an actor playing a doctor referred to ‘pregnant people’ and I switched it off. If only it were always that easy…
